XFX 6600 LE NVIDIA Video Card

AMD 64 3200+ CPU

2 Kingston 512 DDR 128 PC3200 sticks of ram

i have all the latest driver acording to the MSI live update.

I got the same error with 1.02.

do this:

start the patch and choose language. the patch will unpack it self to a temp dir in your documents and settings/user/local settings/temp dir. copy the whole dir to desktop. go to start>run and type cmd. then type cd C:\path\to\the\temp\dir\on\desktop\ then hit enter.
type patch.exe "C:\path\to\battlefield2\install\dir\" and hit enter
patch should now start.

ok try copying the temp dir to install dir of bf2 and run it from there, or try copying the patch file to bf2 install dir and run from there. also have u checked how space u have left where bf2 is installed? I remember alot had that prob with 1.02. if they had about 5GB free it would work. below that it didnt.

delete the bf2 dir in my documents, u can save the controls file if u dont wana redo them. worked for others who had the same prob

i deleted it but it still crashes... is it possable that the patch didnt fully load, or loaded incorrectly? i also notaced that there was no patchlog.txt.

a little off topic are we?

so back to the problem, do you think i should reinstall BF2 and start a square one... again?

i haven't been able to play since the patch came out. i was waiting and waiting for this game to come out, then i got sent to Iraq and the game was released while i was there. i finally came home and got the game, plaid it for a week, then the patch came out and now I've been spending most of my free time trying to fix it.... AAAAAAHHHH!!! this is so frustrating!

I had to redo my system becuase i unloaded something from BF1942 and Vietnam and it just messed everything up, but everything worked out.

so here is what i did, i installed BF2 on my laptop and installed patch 1.03 with no problems, then i copied all the installed files to my desktop. now i run into a new problem...

when i try to play a single player game the game crashes to desktop! has anyone run into this? do you know of a fix?

okay... i got it to work... this is what i did...

1) i installed BF2 on my desktop and on my laptop
2) i installed the patch (1.03) on my laptop and it took with no problems.
3) i deleted the battlefied 2 folder on my desktop ($:/ea games/battelfield 2)
4)i copied the Battlefield 2 folder from my laptop and put it on my desctop ($:/ea games/battelfield 2)

single player works! i can also see all te servers!!

but when i try to join a server on line i get an invalid CD Key error(?)

anyone know of a fix for this?

in the files the patch extrats in that temp dir there is a file called BF2CDKeyCheck.exe
copy that to the install dir of bf2 and then start the game. should be alright. also try to re-enter the code with the file Battlefield 2_code.exe that's in the support dir of your install dir.

it amazes me how retarded ea are. are they trying to make the game unplayable for 50% of the game owners on purpose, or are they just plain retarded? beats me...

Tea, EA is very unrealistic in thier testing and using uber machine in doing thier testing. A company such as EA should take testing more seriously but i guess they are just moreless chumps.
