come on..the sniper class isnt that bad..if you hide well and see enemys near you, lets say 20-50 meters you are garanteed a 1 shot kill...i get them all the time i play sniper...its a good class..if you know how to play

I've had some pretty good rounds as a sniper with a "behind enemy lines" tactics in Karkand & Sharqi Penisula. Killing 20+ enemies and dying ~3 times in a round is pretty good teamplay since you're not wasting your teams tickets by dying so often as if you were an "assault" unit. Plus all the killassists & flag capture assists.. Sniper is pretty good as long as you don't use it from long distances.

On the otherhand, sniper is generally very useless in non-infantry maps wich are just tanks, jeeps and apc-rushing (=any other than Karkand, Sharqi, Oman, Mashtuur).

I dont know why everyone is arguing about this. The snipers will continue to snipe the way they please and the people that hate snipers will continue to run around the map, hating snipers. I personally will always fall back to the sniper when I get bored with other classes because it just feels satisfying to me when I make that headshot. Thats what I bought the game for, and thats what I will continue to use it for. Have fun.

A good sniper can fire so you walk in too the bullet ive done itmyself with headshots loads of times, so now your not safe if your moving.

I know good snipers can hit moving targets, but they prefer to go for easy kill that goes prone when fired on.

Well...||ass||variable...thankfully you don't make decisions with BF2. I play Sniper on certain maps, and usually when I'm tired after a hard days work. Sometimes I just don't have the energy to run/drive around kicking ass, and I'd rather just sit on a roof picking off people.

Last night the chopper boys capped the flag near me 3 times. But guess what.....they wouldn't have been able to do it without me, because all 3 times someone jumpped on the rocket launcher and was just ready to drive on up their ass when I capped them to protect the chopper.

So to say the sniper is no good, is a very ignorant statement. The sniper serves a role, maybe a small one but one none the less.

I understand your frustration when the snipers are the only one's left, and the enemy has capped all the flags. I was probably on that map with you last night, when there were 2 snipers on our team, they were the only ones alive, and all flags were capped. I was one of those snipers, and the 1st thing I did was jump off the roof and run over to a flag. I was just rather unlucky when 2 tanks drove up and blasted me out of the sky.

Just remember its all those so-called superior classes that lost all the flags in the 1st place

if someone has fun sniping and hiding and **** - good on them. they can do what they want, as long as they enjoy it - it IS only a game you know. remember?

Well i like to play sniper every now and then. Reason is that coz i like long range combat wich bf2 really lacks coz of the mainly inaccurate weapons. And when playing other classes you die all the time because it's close range combat and usually someone attacks you back, but when you're a sniper you can live way longer usually if you choose a good spot. I think that the spawnpoints are way too close in the maps of bf2. You can spawncamp enemy flag from your own flag which i think is silly. I'm really waiting for mods like fh2 and hope that they introduce long range combat to the bf2 engine.

I tend to play different classes all the time just for variety. Hell, if they had a class that played the drums in the USO band, I'd do that for a while.

It almost does'nt matter what class a person is using, it's there skill.

A noob sniper is going to be as useless as a noob anti-tanker, a noob pilot as as useless as a noob anti-tanker.

I myself, belive I am quite good. I think that depending on the map, I can help my team out alot regardless of if I choose to drive a tank, fly a plane, go sniper, anti-tank or helo gunner.

As long as the person has the skill to, any kit can become a game winner.

That said, I do not go sniper on MEC\CHI, and don't use the Unlock either. I only snipe if I feel like it on the USMC team, where it's accuraccy gives me headshots. I do not kill many team with claymore, and I do attack flags and cap them out.

Generalising and saying Snipers = Suck is plain wrong.

Snipers as Squad Leaders.. recipe for disaster for your squad members about half of the time.

They put themselves on a roof, and when you spawn on them you either spawn 'in thin air', taking the plunge unexpected to a cold, uncaring pavement OR you spawn behind them in which case his 'expertly' placed Claymores will finish you off..

I agree with the original post on the overall usefullness of the sniper.. heck, the AT is much better at the job anyway, only the stealth part doesn't come close.. then again with most snipers it's not hard to figure out where they are anyway..

As for spotting.. in case someone missed it.. every class can spot, and the visual range of snipers isn't much of an improvement over any other class anyway

As for the Art of War comment....that's precisely why sniper class is useless..it doesn't terrorize anyone. [this is where I come up with the perfect solution for the game...sparking more perfect solution posts]...

Sniper class should be improved. There should be more 1 shot 1 kills with this class...but to counter a bunch of people running around being sniper (or medic for that matter)...there should be a maximum number of snipers at any given moment.

I'm gonna have to agree with ||ass||variable 100% too.
Too many rounds I play where almost half the team are snipers and do **** all to help take flags or contribute effectively on the ground, instead they are sunbathing on top of cranes admiring the view through their rifle.

I had a SL who was a sniper once, and I spawned right in front of his claymore. I just laid there for a minute, going back over my life. Said my last goodbyes to my squad mates, then moved and took it in the face.

I've posted my love for the M95 but I have to agree with the assesment that the Sniper is the last contributor to the game or a team.

I'm actually a pretty good sniper but I will only snipe on a few maps/ spots where I can find a good number of reasonably close and reasonably stable targets [center of Sharki, Karkand on the MEC end and middle, maybe Dalian.] More importantly, I will only snipe if we're winning handily and I'm on the mood for a low score & less intense game; it does help prevent Carple-tunnel.

C'mon, sniper on the center crane on Oman, the only one your gonna kill is someone on your flag camped in the dumpster trying to convert the flag. The only benefit is that as a 1 spot wonder they actually see when someone is taking the flag their camped on [if they're smart enough to call the target.] You also have to love all the posts where sniper's are hoping for team points for correct spotting in the next patch.

Ditto as well on the commander comment, if the real battle is too tight to send Arty then you know you'll get at least 1 kill on the camper. someone said they are 'costing' a whole Arty round for the other team but they're actually just a sure thing.

Oh and the terrorize your enemy thing is just stupid. Last I checked, I get to respawn when I die and my goal is not zero deaths. Besides it works this way, sniper shoots and misses but you see the bullet hit the ground, begin to run and change direction a few times but still get to where you were going [or jump in any vehicle.] Sniper wounds you letting you know he's shooting and which direction he is, put building or object between you and sniper so you can safely decide and switch to knife or pistol then run zig zag straight at him for the kill.
