I dont sit in my mothers basement complaining, I'm sitting in an office thats undermanned and making me do overtime because of the problems the game industry is causing. Its a well known fact that 50% of the problems in the game industry stem from EA, and from there 80% of the problems come from their practices. The fact is if Valve, EA, Dice, and Atari supported the same type of treatment EPIC gives, then you wouldn't see such a big inflation in the industry.

If you plan on being anything to do with IT, and your about to graduate highschool, college, or University, I'm going to say good luck. With the state things are in now because of the state of the industry, you'll probably get turned down from 9 out of 10 jobs. Most employers look for experience to handle the overwhelming workload. A freshie from a textbook doesn't cut it.
What a load of gibberish. 50% of this, 80% of that, "demographics," destabilization of the world economy (for that you earned a tin-foil hat).

Dude, if you're sitting at work writing up this crap, you're ripping off your employer and screwing your industry much worse than even you can claim EA is doing. At least their products are entertaining. Yours is just weird and sort of pitiful.

    Here's your hat.

I personaly won't be buying the expansion, for the simple reason BF2 isn't fixed, yes theres a patch due but until it's release we are stuck with a buggy game, then after (as most patches do) we could be stuck with a more buggy game then before, so EA release the expansion, now they have 2 games to patch, which are they going to concentrate on, will this mean more delays in patches. In my opinion they should concentrate on BF2's problems first, before even thinking about a expansion.

We may have already seen this in the delay in the BF2 patch, as most people think it was or is being delayed to make it more compatable with the expansion, If they was not working on the expansion we could have already had a working patch for BF2.

Yes it is, pushing for new innovations to fast leads to the destabilization of other industry's. Remember the companies are expanding as well, by taking over other companies, or by partnerships, etc. When take-overs occur you must realize that the employee's of the old company arent considered into any of the plans.

Most of the Plans the VPs and the Presidents, and CEO's come up with are to stretch the human resources along the board. This creates overwhelming work conditions and creates undermanned offices thus creating in final terms a destabilization or internal problems within the company.

The gaming industry is already one of the worst places to work with 12 hour work shifts, and 7 days a week thanks to your money.

Next worse place to work would be the companies responsible for creating the next generation hardware. The shear amount of problems they are faced with creating advanced calculations to make pieces of metal and chemicals work on a board work is overwhelming to do on a daily basis.

Though its hard for many people to understand or appreciate how difficult it is making that graphics card you like to use.

Give this guy credit, though, he doesn't have tunnel vision. A bad case of melodrama perhaps, but not tunnel vision.

Besides, the economy is ****ed is when people aren't spending money. Buying the expansion - since you want to use it as a basis of world economy - will mean more demand for CDs/DVDs, cases, manuals (printing industry and paper industry), and shipping (good for UPS/FedEx), among other things. Now that the people who print the manuals have more work to do, they can hire more people. Shipping requires boxes and tape, so more work for box makers and printers, more for 3M (or whoever else makes the shipping tape), more shipping paper/packing material. Then the extra people who have been hired by those companies to fill the needs can then start buying things themselves, which brings us back to the beginning of the cycle. It's when people just cinch up their purse strings and don't buy anything that recessions happen.

So us spending money on the BF2 expansion will 'cause the destabilisation of the world economy'? By giving our money to a company, who gives jobs to others, etc. who will perpetuate the business cycle - that will destabilise the world economy. As opposed to everyone just sitting on their cash?
My friend, its cause and effect. Not everything is directly related, thus making it difficult for people to see the changes that occur. But believe it or not the entire IT industry is linked somehow, and because of that link the smallest things force change.

Much in the same way as a new full 64 bit system will force all software engineers to rebuild into a 64 bit format. Much in the same way new engines push new hardware innovations in memory, video cards, motherboards, bus speeds, and banwidth.

Much in the same way the new graphics cards will have a direct influence over operating systems when picking your rendering device such as OGL, or D3D.

Much in the same way your operatiing system will determin all other applications such as firewalls, virus scanners, spyware scanners, and a whole crapload of other things.

Believe it or not your 30 dollars when combined with the 30 from other people lead to millions, which leads to change accross the entire spectrum.

Schooling's good, knowhow is better.

Exactly my point. So when all the so-to-be retiree's come around all your going to have are textbook freshies, who dont know the know-how. Its already a common problem in the industry of today and its only going to get worse. You realize when one generation go's all you have is the new, thats straight out of school. You get the interchange where you can see the problems, and its happening at this moment.

To cope with this they try and shove peoples experience into textbooks, yet the application of such experience is still alien to the students.

You should come to my office where I have a veteran yelling at this new guy from university because he's not listening to what he says.

Demographics is the study of people and jobs as well as the world economy if you link it to it. In the population chart its a well known fact in North America as a whole less children exist, then that of the generation before (1900's to 1960's.) Due to this fact you have a small base on a population pyramid and charts, and a wider middle. Most of the population is in the workforce.

However, with them retiring, and soon to be on pensions, etc, it means the new generation will be in the workforce with a huge overload, due to the fact that businesses expand, and eventually they will be undermanned and underpowered, possibly causing a huge distabilization in the economy of North America, which will have reprocussions on the world in total.

Remember 9/11, the 5 trillion dollars lost with the Twin Towers was 5 trillion lost from the world economy.

Re: EA... Are you guys foolish enough to play into their hands?

I don't care what one other company has done, there are too many out there. Everyone is vocal about how much they want to cut off the heads of every EA employee and put them on their wall because they "have gotten ripped off by getting the game in beta stage", but not a single person ever says thanks when they get a patch, or a new map, or see a stat padder get their stats reset, or get their stats back after they were sure they'd lost them because they made a phone call. There's no doubt in my mind if EA didn't do this stuff, people would complain and make death threats until their voice boxes had fallen off.

Honestly, dude, I appreciate you trying to help and I like your spirit, but this whole "I hate EA thing" has gotten way out of hand. It's so much easier to complain than praise.

Someone should tell him that his employer has been watching him for a while. They know he knows the horrible truth.
