EXACTLY. You pretty much nailed it there. I would have gladdly waited till this winter or spring to buy a BF2 with all the promised features, instead of having to buy the game in halves (or 2/3 and 1/3 or whatever).

What promised features are missing now in BF2?
edit: I hate to brake it to you, no game won't be delayed months because some forum fan boy(s) wants to have more features in it. There's are a whole bunch of financial thingies that affects the games release date/delay. And I'm talking about MORE than your ~60 bucks..

you can pay absolutely nothing for literally 10's of mods that will not have these problems. BF:A, FH2, POE2, Shattered Faith, PR, BF1918, and a host of gulf war mods just for starters, are all going to have an equilivant of content of the expansion pack, not to mention, with thier diversified gamer poplation, much less stupid statpadding, cheating, hacking (because only fans and enthusiasts of the mods play them), and im sure all of these mods will have much more complex and interseting gameplay than BF2.

Most of the BF/BF2 mods are/will most likely be crap and many of the mods don't even have players after a while. I remember trying the PoE mod for V and the maps were just lots of tanks, bunch of tents and more tanks on a desert. FH will most likely be lots-and-lots-of-tanks type of gameplay too. As I remember from FH, the balance between teams was constantly pretty bad. There was always another team taking up to ass the whole round while in regular-bf there were a lot more interesting battles.

How is the "gamer population" much more diversified with mods?

If you're so worried about stat padding, why don't you play in non-ranked servers? So far I've only noticed stat padding maybe 3 or 4 times and it didn't really bother ME at all. Why do you think that hacking and cheating won't occure in mods too? Same engine -> same cheats and hacks. But on the otherhand, I've NEVER noticed anybody cheating in BF2, or at least I don't remember ever seen anybody use hacks so far..

Not to mention the whole if you pay them 30 bucks, they'll just keep shoveling out unfinished products on us. Even if you do think you'll like the content, don't buy it, at least at first, show them that we won't stand for an unfinished product. People don't reallize the power they have, they just need to get more organized... (lol we should make a gamers union somehow)

I've bought BF2 (so have you?). No matter how "unfinished" it is, I've still had lots of fun playing it (you haven't?). I'm not really sure if I'll buy the first exp.pack, though. I think I'll have to discuss with my bank manager about taking a 30$ loan to cover all the costs from that expensive, exp.pack that I'm forced buy. Not to mention it's so unfinished and buggy.. at least according to all of you who've played it so far..

Because you dont seem to understand that EA's having reprocussions in all aspects of employment. Your crappy dollars are being put to a crappy game which is being put to develop a crappy engine, which is making other parts of the industry work on new innovative hardware and software.

You dont seem to realize that your money is not being put to into good use. The fact is your money is causing the destabilization of the world economy, exspecially in the poor state it is right now with Oil, and the fact that pretty soon the continent of North america is being faced with a crisis shown in the study of demographics.

I dont sit in my mothers basement complaining, I'm sitting in an office thats undermanned and making me do overtime because of the problems the game industry is causing. Its a well known fact that 50% of the problems in the game industry stem from EA, and from there 80% of the problems come from their practices. The fact is if Valve, EA, Dice, and Atari supported the same type of treatment EPIC gives, then you wouldn't see such a big inflation in the industry.

If you plan on being anything to do with IT, and your about to graduate highschool, college, or University, I'm going to say good luck. With the state things are in now because of the state of the industry, you'll probably get turned down from 9 out of 10 jobs. Most employers look for experience to handle the overwhelming workload. A freshie from a textbook doesn't cut it.

I just took one look at the soldier in the screenshot with an AK-101 and a GP30 and realised I wouldn't touch that expansion with a 10 foot pole. Pay more money to whatch Kermit jump around popping people with his noob tube?

I've read some arguments here that mods wont be any good. I'm shure that's why DICE bought Trauma Studios who made the Desert Combat mod. I have played mods who surpass the original game in most areas. And I didn't even have to pay for it. Not that it's all that important. I will gladly contribute money to mod devs that make a good mod or conversion.

Ofcourse the mods and expansions in BF1942 suffered from the problems of the game engine and the netcode and this will repeat itself in BF2 unless it's patched. Going by my experience with BF1942 I can almost guarantee it wont happen.

The title pretty much sums what I'm about to say. I know many people here are a big fan of BF2 and knowing you, you will play right into EA's hands. Did you guys know that EA/DICE is raping the money out of you? An expansion pack thats 30 USD for not soo many new features is what it takes to make you go waste your money?

Well did you know you guys are playing right into EA's/DICE's hands. I will probably not buy the SF expansion pack, but all with good reason. I did not pay 60 bucks to get a game thats still BETA, and with a handful of maps and exploits. Not to mention a **** AntiCheat protection called PunkBuster that totally ****s over good programs such as Diamond CS ProcessGuard!

On top of that they believe they can charge 30 bucks more and rip apart another 2-8 million dollars in sales because of fanboys who are willing to buy anything instead of standing up.

You guys have to show EA/DICE a lesson! Show them you cant be pushed around and raped of your money! The fact is if you dont start now, they'll keep doing it in the future, which could get much worse by god knows how much... You realize if they dont make good sales on an expansion pack it means they'll rethink about the quality and time they put into building the game! It'll push for a BETTER game.

The fact is by buying the SF expansion pack you guys just show EA/DICE that they can pick your pockets clean for doing absolutely no work. Make them earn their money instead of slapping on a few extra stuff, stamping it with their copyright and trademark and shipping it out.

I wont be buying any expansion packs.. nor will I be buying ANY EA
products for a looooooong time....

Battlefield 2 is the worst piece of code to hit the market imo, in a long
while.. 3 months after release and its still in BETA form, and we still
wait for this 'ultimate patch' that seems to never come..

SORRY EA, its a little late now... 3 months to fix your crap is too long
for me to wait.... I have moved on...rarely play BF2 anymore.. too many
bugs, too many exploits, too many unfinished subroutines, i.e. your
worthless server browser.

EA/DICE is the worst possible combination of Creator/Publisher that you
can have..

To make all this worse, you got a bunch of EA brown nosers here
in this forum that are just eager to knock you down should you say
anything about their precious game.. These are the same types that
get boners for getting imaginary badges, awards, ranks, etc.. which
is the funniest thing Ive seen in a long time.. I bet they doodle little
BF2 logos and cute little pics of their unlocked weopons in their H.S.

This game is still in BETA form 3 months AFTER I paid for it.. Octoboer 3rd

Well i just went to WoW because BF2 started to annoy with too many bugs. There has to be some major patching before BF2 will be playable and fun. Don't take me wrong. It doesn't suck. Game mode is just perfect and teamplay has never been more fun and supportive. Too bad 1.03 patch is taking so long.

If I knew how much fun I would have with this game - EVEN IN ITS CURRENT STATE...I would have paid double for it.

$30 for an expansion...a bit steep. But I know I will play the crap out of it and get my money's worth. As long as it still feels and plays like I know BF series to be...here's my cash.

for example, for a study, they putted pple in a movietheatre and let some subliminal messaging in the movie... the result was shokking, they advertised for popcorn, and cola, and strangely enough, like 30 % went to the shop to buy popcorn, and another 45! % went up to get cola.
now u may think, cola is what everyone want, but can u make pple buy another cola not from coke? guess what they bought...

Well with Quake 4 coming out soon youd think they'd not charge for the xpac anyway. I know these are 2 completely different games and I dont wanna get into a fight about which game is better. But there are some of us that were quake 3 players and got BF2 because they thought it would be something that they could play for a good while. But with all the crap thats been going on i'm gonna spend my $$ on Q4 instead of an xpac that should be free. Hopefully id and raven will treat its fans better.
