Fanboy? This is the 1st EA game I've played outside of Madden and Need For Speed.. there goes that arguement. I had no bias either way on the subject of EA when I started playing Battlefied, the fact is that I just ENJOY IT. I like playing this game, it is extremely fun and addictive. I have yet to have a displeasing experience on this game outside of just not doing well for a few rounds. It seems you people have some outside vendetta against EA that has nothing to do with this game, and want to try and 'convert' people into EA haters. How about you stop trying to force your opinions on people, and let them form their own? It's not your job to tell people to not buy the expansion pack. If they don't like BF2, they won't buy the expansion. If they like it, they will buy it. Have a nice day.

I don't think I will be interest in Special Forces expansion pack if:

      1. They don't release a patch fixing major bugs with the existing game first.

      2. Add different types of games, getting sick of capture control point default style, needs more objective based ones, expecially considering Special Forces.

EA loves to milk franchises for all the cash they can get. Just take a look at Medal of Honor. Three (or more) expansion packs, console-versions of the game, console expansion packs etc.

You dont understand what hes trying to say. Hes saying that if u continue to buy any expanison because it has EA on it, EA will continue to do this and they will never try to create a game thats unbeatable, i mean i like bf2 but theres so many bugs in bf2 and ea is already starting to make an expansion but the bugs in bf2 arent even fixed yet, hes trying to say that if u dont get into there hands, they will take there time an make a 10 times better game, i dont know about u but i would like that alot..

I assume you mean "unbeatable" as in an awesome game. Well, to me, and most others than the 1% of complainers that play this game, think it's a pretty awesome game so I would think EA has succeeded.

Also I'm not buying an expansion pack all because it has EA stamped on it, I'm buying it because it's going to have many things that suit my preference. It's focusing more on infantry combat and that's my primary joy with FPS, not tanks or airplanes although it's cool to have all that integraded into one game. It doesn't matter if EA made the expansion pack or someone else. If another company or even an amateur modder made an expansion pack/mod I liked, I'd pay or donate to them as well. I can guarantee you 99% of the people complaining here don't even help donate to modders either. Most people are complaining all because they can't afford the expansion pack because those same type of people complain about EVERY expansion pack that comes out for every game since they don't have the cash.

It's all what this game to you is worth. To me, this game is worth more than $100 without the expansion pack. I get so much recreational funtime from this game for practically nothing. I could be doing all sorts of other hobby activities or going out partying and spending 10x the amount in one month than it takes to get $50 for one game that provides darned near unlimited play time. So another mere $30 for the expansion pack which is tailored to my style of play is nothing. $80 for the combination. Heck, I spent more money than that today on dinner for me and a friend and a couple CDs that I could have gotten for free on the internet. What do you think I'll be doing more? Listening to those CDs or playing BF2?

The title of this thread should be more like "EA.. Are you guys broke enough not to play into their hands".

Re: EA... Are you guys foolish enough to play into their hands?

Personally I hope this expansion ends up like Road to Rome for 1942. Hardly anyone fooled with it and played vanilla or a mod.

I'm not buying the game, and I don't give a darn about the price. It's not that I don't have $30, it's not that I don't have a problem spending the said $30. My problem is spending $30 on something that's not worth $30. And the "I spent more on that tonight for dinner" and all that stuff, good for you, you have lots of money and spend it. No one cares. The point is the price and how it fits into the industry standard and the consumers preference, not everyone elses lives (although by the leaderboards in BFHQ we can tell lots of people don't have much of one).

I don't see how anyone even TRUSTS this expansion to work even half decent after the way BF2 was released. And obviously they haven't gotten the message that we're unhappy because we can't even get ONE fix to the game either on-time or even working correctly that doesn't need a fix to require a fix. Their ears don't listen to us, but their wallets do, and that's exactly why I'm not buying this expansion pack. They don't deserve another $30 of my money, nor yours, for the performance they've shown us with BF2.

The expansion pack is a bunch of stuff stolen from the stereotypical view of a spy-style movie of some sort, and while you're saying it focuses on infantry, those helicopter gunships are going to mow you down or you'll be ran over by a civilian vehicle of some sort. Adding new armies is hardly a focus on infantry to me, as there will still just be one army against another in each map, the gameplay is going to be the same, and you'll hardly notice a difference about 2 weeks after the release because you're too worried about an arty strike or a helicopter finding you than "Wow, my squad looks danged awesome!"

The only way to show EA/DICE/who-the-heck-ever-you-want-to-blame that we're upset is hit their wallets, not continue telling them, because the only language they understand is money.

Ok. Don't get the friggin expansion. This goes for all of you who are going "OMFG BF2 IS T3H sUx0Rrr WTF WHEER ISMAH PACTH!? I WONT' BYU CAUES EA RIPS US 4LL OFF K3KEK3KE!" Get other games then. Sit in your chair waiting for Steam to update and try to connect. Watch, someone will beat you for the spot that you wanted! Get Need For Speed, just don't come back whining that "1T W45N'T 45 GR34T 45 I THUOHGT 1t w0lud b3." Get the game you want, dammit. No-one should be whining about one game they bought - if you're not satisfied with what you got, either return the game from where you bought it from, sell it to EB or Game Stop or on EBAY or LIVE WITH IT. That isn't that hard to grasp.

Most of those mods will probably begin work on integrating the expansion soon after it's release - would be nice to see a zipline or the nightvision in Hostile Takeover or WDW.

I wouldn't be suprised if all of that wasn't already possible in the vanilla version and doable by mods anyway. Of course EA would probably just throw down the hammer on'em and say it's one of those things they aren't supposed to change or add in or something.

Did you guys know that EA/DICE is raping the money out of you? An expansion pack thats 30 USD for not soo many new features is what it takes to make you go waste your money?

Well did you know you guys are playing right into EA's/DICE's hands. I will probably not buy the SF expansion pack, but all with good reason. I did not pay 60 bucks to get a game thats still BETA, and with a handful of maps and exploits. Not to mention a **** AntiCheat protection called PunkBuster that totally ****s over good programs such as Diamond CS ProcessGuard!

On top of that they believe they can charge 30 bucks more and rip apart another 2-8 million dollars in sales because of fanboys who are willing to buy anything instead of standing up.

You guys have to show EA/DICE a lesson! Show them you cant be pushed around and raped of your money! The fact is if you dont start now, they'll keep doing it in the future, which could get much worse by god knows how much... You realize if they dont make good sales on an expansion pack it means they'll rethink about the quality and time they put into building the game! It'll push for a BETTER game.

The fact is by buying the SF expansion pack you guys just show EA/DICE that they can pick your pockets clean for doing absolutely no work. Make them earn their money instead of slapping on a few extra stuff, stamping it with their copyright and trademark and shipping it out.

Glad I'll never see ya ina SF battlefield!

And making people develop new and innovate hardware is...bad??? So you'd just as soon be playing your Commodore 64 right now rather than having software developers make hardware developers manufacter higher-end/higher-tech products? Stasis is better than growth?

You dont seem to realize that your money is not being put to into good use. The fact is your money is causing the destabilization of the world economy, exspecially in the poor state it is right now with Oil, and the fact that pretty soon the continent of North america is being faced with a crisis shown in the study of demographics.
Translation: If you buy the BF2 expansion you will be solely responsible for the downfall of capitalism. mirite?

Give this guy credit, though, he doesn't have tunnel vision. A bad case of melodrama perhaps, but not tunnel vision.

Besides, the economy is ****ed is when people aren't spending money. Buying the expansion - since you want to use it as a basis of world economy - will mean more demand for CDs/DVDs, cases, manuals (printing industry and paper industry), and shipping (good for UPS/FedEx), among other things. Now that the people who print the manuals have more work to do, they can hire more people. Shipping requires boxes and tape, so more work for box makers and printers, more for 3M (or whoever else makes the shipping tape), more shipping paper/packing material. Then the extra people who have been hired by those companies to fill the needs can then start buying things themselves, which brings us back to the beginning of the cycle. It's when people just cinch up their purse strings and don't buy anything that recessions happen.

So us spending money on the BF2 expansion will 'cause the destabilisation of the world economy'? By giving our money to a company, who gives jobs to others, etc. who will perpetuate the business cycle - that will destabilise the world economy. As opposed to everyone just sitting on their cash?

If you plan on being anything to do with IT, and your about to graduate highschool, college, or University, I'm going to say good luck. With the state things are in now because of the state of the industry, you'll probably get turned down from 9 out of 10 jobs. Most employers look for experience to handle the overwhelming workload. A freshie from a textbook doesn't cut it.
And much the same can be said for any position that requires education. You look through the job app pages for anything, from IT to Accounting, and how often will it say, "Degree, no experience required."? Not too often. That's just the way the job market works. Schooling's good, knowhow is better.
