Its funny how in all the forums I have been on with threads like this; everyone says they dont punish, but once in game 99% of the time you are punished for a TK...accidental or not:hmm:??
thats why i'm urging you guys to do a sayall in game. Actually could someone tell how i could define a function key to do the job for me?
i usually punish claymores at the top of ladders when the situation otherwise doesn't warrant them (and usually revisit the ladder for punish++), stupid artys and some other cases in order to get the guy to stop doing it.
This is why the game is so frustrating sometimes. When in a sniping position on top of a building, you are ALWAYS vulnerable, hence placing a mine at the top of the ladder to protect your six. Now along comes someone like this dork who, even though can clearly see that there is a friendly mine at the top of the ladder, chooses to climb it anyway, set off the claymore, then punish for a TK. Then he proudly states he will do it again. He, and those like him, are the reason why I don't snipe off of the top of buidings anymore and nor do I place AT mines, because the same thing happens there too.
I waited a few seconds for a vehicle to spawn so I could get back into the action amused by a team mate hopping around the place randomly firing his weapon into the floor. He stopped and shot me and that got a punish.
RED FLAG for someone who will most likely TK.
I never Punish, no matter how I am killed. All it does is take points away and usually the ones who intentionally do it have a low score anyways....The BF1942 Punish where it increased your respawn time was more effective in my opinion.
As for mishaps during combat, Bad Frag, Landmines, shot, blown up, ect....I have done it all to others and I know I didn't mean to...so I just Forgive those who did it to me.
It is frustrating to Forgive someone and they turn around and punish you for a mistake moments later.

True. It seems that only people who don't punish are those visiting this forum. Why can't I run into them on BF2 servers?
I made the decision that I won't punish, unless someone TKs me on purpose (or stupid jet pilot bombs our own base and TKs more people).
But I can NOT remember when was the last time I WASN'T punished...
I mean, the worst kind of punishing was when I played USMC on Dragon Valley and confronted an enemy APC. We both shoot at each other, and we kill each other. At that very moment (when I died), I am switched to China team, and I get punished for a teamkill. Do these people have a hole in their heads?
I've heard about such stories before (being switched to other team, and then getting punished for teamkill), but I didn't beleive it. Now it happened to me, and it is real.
And it's not the issue of score/points. It's the issue of "F*ck, and I am playing with guys like this, in the same team?".
I try not too punish but if someone does not even have the manners to say sorry after an accident then I will. Obviously if its in the middle of a firefight and I get hit by a friendly I will not punish. But there are some occasions when they deserve the punish!!
I use something called common sense, something a lot of players don't use when deciding to punish.
If I get run over by a friendly tank, I blame myself for not looking both ways before crossing the street. If I get shot by running into a gunfight, right in front of a friendly, I blame myself for being stupid enough for jumping in front of someone elses weapon. If I am running across the carrier deck, and I get nailed by a plane taking off, I forgive, because the flight deck is the one place I would think you would want to look to see if there is a F35 taking off, doing 200+ knots, and if they see you, not a damn thing they can do about it.
But, when I am taking off from an aircraft carrier, and a friendly sticks C4 on my plane as I take off, and then blows me up once I get off the deck because he wanted the plane, that gets a punish, plus a "you stupid simple ****" remark as well.
As long as its not intentional, I forgive, unless its for something really stupid. And then, I wait for about 10 seconds or so, and wait to see if I see an apology come across, if so, I will forgive, and the laugh about it with the guy :)
I have almost decided to let some ppl die instead of trying to save them in the game. I don't know how many times I come up with a tank or APC to confront an enemy vehicle reaping havok on friendlies. I take out the vehicle and the secondary explosion kills a friendly and they TK....I tell them next time I will let you die by the enemy first.
Also have had this happen with a Blackhawk...they were spawn raping a flag (Not trying to take it at all) I take out the helo that falls on a filled APC and I received 6 Punishes and a bunch of foul language.
Someone delibretly TKs me (e.g. C4 on my car, or is on a killing spree shooting all his team mates) then I will punish.
If I run in front of a vehicle, I will not punish, as it is my fault, and I will often apologise for lowering the other guy's score.
If I am running by the side of the road, and there is plenty of room to get around me, and I am run over, I will punish.
If someone shoots me as a reflex and I die, i generally don't punish as they generally apologise. If they shoot me, stop, aim better, shoot me agian, reload, and shoot me again, then damn right I will punish.
Well said. Once I flew with a fully loaded BH, the pilot got lag and an enemy plane flew into us. He got 6 teamkills and 5 punishes. I were the only one not to punish, and the Pilot and I got together and did a LOT of foul language at the punishers. I mean, he apopogizes and eveything for something he could'n control, then the ***** punished him anyway.
I never punish unless its a "That was my plane, so you deserve the c4" after i've waited looooong for a plane and a noob shows up with his c4 when the plane arrives.
I rarely punish, but get punished often. By the people who think a tank can see all around it. By the splash damage from secondary explosions after I kill an enemy tank. By people who get taken out by missiles which lock on to friendly aircraft and heli's better than on to enemies.
I still think that the primary reason people punish is because the game doesn't say how they got killed, just teamkilled. If it said roadkilled, or ak101 or something, you would have a better idea on how to judge the tk.
I do think that it has gotten better, but there will always be people out there that punish without even an ounce of thought. They are the people that ruin the game for others, with their lack of thought.
i'm sure i'm like the rest of you and get sick of punisher noobs. I found a lot of my anger left me when i decided for myself that i wouldn't punish anyone ever no more. After playing for a few days like this I received a new higher inner calm. I'm almost not joking. I mean, there really isn't the amount of purposeful tk-ing anymore, unlike bf1942 so most of these teamkills are just stupid, accidental actions in the height of battle so let them go.
Now each time i enter a server i'll act like a parent and sayall 'I never punish and i urge you to do the same'. I thought i'd be flamed but all i've had is positive comment and likewise actions.
Great.. so I can join a server and find you and knife you in the face ON PURPOSE and you wont punish me... cool
Sorry I do not have that kind of control. If there is a battle raging on and I get Tk'd then I ALWAYS forgive. Doesn't matter whats going on... 99.4% of the time your teammate didn't do it on purpose. Should he have paused and looked for teammates after he threw that nade.. yes.. however, he didn't so it was a stupid mistake.. so I always forgive that. BUT on the other hand... If I am walking up stairs or there is absolutely no enemy around and some dumb a$$ tags me from behind cuz he thought it would be funny. His a$$ is getting punished. Plain and simple!
I used to only punish when I thought it was intentional. However I get punished just about every time for the stupidest things (ie. claymores or mines out in the open and visible). When I run into a mine and find myself doing something dumb, I don't punish. In fact, I feel bad for being an idiot and costing the guy points. However if I get shot, grenaded or arty'ed, I now have a policy that if I don't get a 'Sorry' within a few seconds, I punish. Screw you. Me angry. Me punish. Me feel better. Now where's my pills?
