I always thought it was funny you are playing a game where you are running around trying to kill other people, but do not dare cuss while trying to blow someone's head off.

I know that I have been kicked for saying a bad word. What can I say it happens after you have had a 12 pack.Oh well guess some people get tired of hearing bad words on cable tv.What can you say their sever their rules.Just my 2cents

Look, what kind of moron would set up a server where curse words are kickable offenses? I don't know, I'm just don't get the reason for being so sensitive to a stinking curse word. Racism, yes, xenophobia, yes, but cursing? LAME!

It was like a double whammy. A loser commander and a silly no cursing server.

Feel free to disagree. I couldn't care less. It's my personal opinion, and I think it's stupid.

        Again, what was your point?
Easily stated. If you came into a server and sprouted the bad words all over the room and offended the admin and got kicked... no one knows what a class act you are.. only that you like to swear in a game.

No one will understand that you are a man who is a homeowner and perhaps a family man as well. Swearing and using bad words in a game makes one look like any of the thousands of high-pitched teenies who are trying out the words as if they are a novelty early in thier lives.

FYI I am also a home owner myself but if I swore too much into the game (Ventrillo.. rarely chat) my spouse comes into my computer room with a iron skillet and administers just punishment.

Just because the world has swearing and other bad things ... we just choose not to be around it. The servers that enforce rules and focuses the on good quaility gaming without the trash are the ones we choose to play in.

          for motorboatjones:

this isn't a choice to "shelter" the children, it's a choice not to have to read people complaining or swearing at each other over a game. While we know that children will hear more every day than in an hour on the server, we still don't see the need for it to be in the server chat at all. Think of the server as someone's house. They invite you into their house and all you do is swear at someone repeatedly while most of the people are trying to have fun. Do you not expect to be asked to leave?

I have no issue with you personally, however if you visit someone's server try to keep that in mind. I'm not saying I've never gotten frustrated by someone, far from it. The one thing I can guarantee you is that I do not type it in the server chat on our server, or anyone else's. Just do whatever you have to do in your room, behind your desk. If it means you swear a blue streak up and down then that's fine, but typing it in chat for everyone to have to look at is going to get you kicked or banned from some servers.

Well, those servers which enforce rules such as no swearing don't exactly fall into my standards of "quality gaming".

My idea of a quality game hasn't been realized, therefore I turn to swearing, which in turn makes me happy while playing.

A good set of players is what qualifies a server as being "fun". Whether the people are swearing or not, it really doesn't matter. As long as the players play correctly, the game becomes fun. When an admin or clan member kicks someone for swearing, and doesn't kick the TKer or the guy that purposely gets TKed so he can kick you from server, then that server becomes dull and boring.

Swearing is a way of venting, and half the time, I don't even read what it says.

As for following my "class" online? Well..personally, I could give a crap what people think of me on the net. For all I care, they can think whatever they want of me, I always think the worst of them, because quite frankly, that's all I see playing... To them, I am "machstem", the guy that gets p!ssed when he is annoyed by idiot gamers, not the guy that owns a home, has a wife/girlfriend, kids, etc.

I really can't agree on your statement of carrying your class with you on the net. It's not feasible. You're not there to make friends, and if you are....well, maybe you should re-evaluate your life. I'm not saying that specifically to you, just in general.

When you join a server that does not allow swearing, there are two options: swear and be kicked/banned, or not swear and continue with the game. Sometimes I figure I'm having fun, so I don't swear, and sometimes I swear for the hell of it. Whichever I do though, has no reflection on my actual self, whether I live like trash, live in riches, have class, no class, etc. There is just no way to carry it along with you..online playing videogames.

Re: OMG, I just got kicked for saying a bad word!

Someone already posted this but The server control that nearly every server uses now called bf2cc from bf2cc.com has an auto kick feature for swearing. basically a server admin types in all of the words that they find offensive and that they do not want on thier server and the server control filters them out and sends a warning. the server admin sets the numbers of swear that a player can say per round before that player is kicked. This is new feature as of a month ago and that why the problem is coming up.I think the default on bf2cc is set to three swears before kicking where something like five or six is probably more appropriate. just watch for the warning message in the top left if you type a swear and then if you're having fun don't swear again and you won't get kicked.

Here's the problem with it. You're allowed to shoot people, but you can't cuss. You can do something that would be considered a crime, but you can't practice free speech. Do you server admins think that there is no cussing in the military? I can't get on a server that allows it anymore; none of them do. It's ******** to say the least.

                      What a great post.

I think back to games that I particpate in outside in real life and am very competitive in spirit. If the people on the game start to swear and trash talk as a sorta of spirit of friendly comptetition Im right there with them.

Online gaming, has I think, the good bad and the ugly and those who are able to deal with it succeed. The rest I guess get angry or stressed and make it personal somehow.. then you have the hate and destructive feelings.

I dont direct anything I have written at you personally. I think that there is Freedom in this country. Freedom to do what one pleases and the internet is one of the great things in our life time. I mean.. 15 years ago no one heard of online gaming. (They did but thought similar to arcade addicts of the 80's)

In a server like that I said FUK U at a guy 4 running me over and everyone must of had something against it caz they were all like oh no! u swore! Oh no!

                        My reply?
                        Shut the FK UP

Some people get angry on servers caz they care so much about their stats so they hav 2 express their feelings through words,

                        Thats just wat I think

BTW if u think I am just 1 of those people who I just talked about Im not caz he was a TKer and kept on running me over 2 **** me off and it worked :|:

I normally don't swear on servers, BUT if someone runs into my artillery strike and then punish me for tk I will tell him where the sun doesn't shine. It's that simple. I can live with most of the stupidity on public servers but I have limits. I have played on lots of servers but to this day I can't think of anyone where I got kicked for this.

People's priorities are jacked up. You clowns wonder why the world is getting worse and worse.
FYI, before you start in on me, I'm a grown adult, also served in the military for 4 1/2 years until I got out medically, I'm married and I have a little girl.
Exactly! In the UK, you have to be 16 just to buy the game. You tell me if you know a 16 year old whose never told someone to f- off and worse! You really think anyone over the age of 10 is going to be shocked at swearing? Most kids swear more than adults cos it's new and makes them look cool (in their eyes).

I thought we were supposed to have freedom of speech? Banning swearing is ridiculous in a game you have to legally be an adult to play and which involves killing people in a variety of interesting and violent ways.

The difference is when you go into a server and give people abuse. Whether there is swearing involved or not, abusing someone should clearly result in a kick, but typing a random swear word to express frustration, come on! Who doesn't do that in real life?

Having said all that, if someone pays for a server, they can make whatever rules they like, even if they are pretty ott. If you don't like them, go elsewhere i suppose.
