IRL I know adults who could make a Docker blush with their language, however when around children they watch their P's and Q's - if you were playing a game of football with a 14 year old and they made a mistake, would you call them an F'ing idiot to their faces? no I would doubt so, and if you did I would imagine that you would probaly get a slap from an irate parent.. end of discussion I think..

However I do understand banter and don't mind taking abuse myself as I sure can give it too, however in real life I can see who i'm having banter with, in a computer game I can't - would over 18's servers break the EULA?

That very same attitude was apparent in BF1942. "You suck at flying planes, let somebody who can use them, use them". The ONLY way you're going to get good at something is to practice. You can't just produce skill out of thin air, things take a bit of time.

So next time you scream til you're red in the face at somebody who keeps losing control of their planes or helicopters, performs badly in the commander seat or whatever - just think back to the time when you couldn't do it. You wanted to practice, give them the same luxury and don't be so arrogant.

Well, I agree. You never get good without practice, which is fine. But you should be practicing the basics of flight in singleplayer, it gives those that actually feel like winning a chance to do so. As for commander mode, you can do the same in single player, or LAN with bots. It took me almost 2 weeks to get the hang of being commander, usually, instead of complaining, I normally give them hints on being a better commander, tell them to drop supplies on their things to fix it, etc.

Good point, but not for all aspects of the game.

Plenty of servers have a bad language rule, and I'm glad they do. I dont want to listen to pre-pubescent potty mouths thinking they're clever by cussing at people. I used to work on a building site, so I know plenty of language that even you might be shocked by, I just think its not needed when your game is not going great. Get over it.

Even if they did not, calling an admin a f*cking idiot is just asking to be kicked..... Doh!

Oh man he said f*ck once, no it's called a warning buddy. Expessially if they don't have it on before you join the game. I don't expect to be kicked for saying one curse word in a game i shoot and kill other people... i would though, expect this from somthing nintendo has put online.

Keed, I agree about the ESRB ratings. Like I mentioned previously, it's a bias commitee making rules. Run by a large amount of conservatives, it is bent on ruling out anything that includes nudity, cussing as being "bad".

Although, when you add blood, gore, killing, explosions, essentially anything that requires death and killing, it gets a "teen" rating. They wouldn't want people thinking that war is bad, would they?

I agree, a heaving server isn't exactly the best place to start learning. However, some people like to be thrown into the deep end. Where you're opponents can think for themselves, and do unexpected things.

What a gay loser admin. I was on a really decent spec ops team. We were under heavy fire for about 5 mins. I kept calling in artillery on our position (we were under a shed while the enemy was in APCs and stuff on the road). Over and over I kept calling in the artillery. The stupid loser commander ignored it or didn't know how.

Finally after getting no response I wrote him a message asking him why he didn't send us the artillery. He said "you didn't need it!" I called him a f*cking idiot. That's when I got kicked for bad language.

Look, what kind of moron would set up a server where curse words are kickable offenses? I don't know, I'm just don't get the reason for being so sensitive to a stinking curse word. Racism, yes, xenophobia, yes, but cursing? LAME!

It was like a double whammy. A loser commander and a silly no cursing server.

Feel free to disagree. I couldn't care less. It's my personal opinion, and I think it's stupid.

Kinda like the real military. The troops on the ground pinned down by enemy fire are the only ones that think they need help. The "commander" sitting on the other side of the map knows it all! What a f**kstick! I wonder what kind of guy spends money on a ranked server just to play commander and have the ability to kick people. He must get beat down by his wife or mother every day when he gets home from work for not doing the household chores or something. :)

But when he gets on BF2 and plays commander, he's in charge! Woot!

some filters are to strong some to weak, words they can say on TV shouldnt be bannable. Ive been banned for saying ass or damn even b4. Still some only ban for racial slurs and F word leaving other bad words. Doesnt really matter tho, theres always going to be that admin that if you call him a retard or idiot or just say he should have done it a different way you will be banned. Dont forget killing the admin multiple times gets you a ban on many servers as well.

I'm truely amazed that this thread went on for so long.

I figured it would end with the following three statements;

1.) Admins have rules; follow them, or be banned. If you don't like them leave.

2.) Freedom of speech does not apply in all domains, you have no freedom of speech when you join a server paid for and operated by other individuals.

3.) It takes actual effort to type out profanity. So, you're actually putting effort into typing somthing out when you could vent in more productive manners that every individual doesn't have to be exposed to, you run the risk of being banned. I repeat! If you choose to expose everyone else to the none-sense.. you get banned.

Personally, my server bans on assumptions. We don't like children playing on our server, and if you even hint at a sign of being under the age of 18 we ban you. Simple as that. Profanity, CS/UT2004 type tactics... or whatever he heck we feel like are all grounds for getting banned on my server. Know why?... because we paid for it and the public frankly has NO SAY on our server. I'm sure there are times we have been wrong and have eleminated legit and honest players; but, we really don't care. Better to remove all possible annoyances than have to put up with one.

I think that about sums this up... so how about the win over Philly by the good ol' ATL?

In the realm of public speaking, if you wouldn't say it infront of your mother, you shouldn't say it at all. Using foul language does nothing but make you look like a fool. I understand it's your right to say anything you want, but it's also the admins right to kick and ban for not following their rules. As was posted earlier, you can curse your head off in your own room where no one can hear you, the last thing you need to do is text profanity.

I sure get a good laugh at some peoples' way of thinking on this matter. Why would anybody want to read chat of somebody name calling or cussing? I like to read chat that might be important to me, such as team chat & such. Some of the things said are hilarious & make the game that much more enjoyable. Exactly HOW MANY brain cells does it take to NOT type in messages that are offensive or swearing? Not many, but apparantly MORE than some people have. Nothing worse than having to read all the noob this...noob that...^$%#&& this ^%*#^*# that crap that comes on the screen. Nothing wrong with sick humor. Thats what makes online playing & chatting ability so great. You get talk to people 1000's of miles away.

As for the one's who said it your Freedom of Speech? ROFLMAO!! Go to a public place like the mall or somewhere with a crowd of people & yell out expletives & see what happens. I suppose next you will say that verbally threatening someone is your Freedom of speech also. Bahahahhaha!!

Why would you want to yell out bad words in a mall? That is just asking for trouble. You DO have the freedom to do just that. Just dont expect the Mall which is... private property BTW... to react in a supportive manner. being banned from a mall has to be worse than being banned from a game server LOL.
