Re: Its official, the Staff Officer ribbon is impossible

The Staff Officer Ribbon is actually one of the easiest ribbons to get. I think it was my third ribbon, with only 5 days of playing(non-continuous, not more than 8 hrs(only on 2 days)). Have you read/checked the pre-requisites correctly? Maybe you misread something, or maybe you are trying to apply the pre-requisites for another ribbon accidentally, one that you already have but had a hard time getting?

      · 28 Minutes as Commander in 1 round
      · Commander Score of 50 in 1 round

Also, remember that the minimum score of 50 is ONLY for your Commander Score, which is usually not very high per round(this is not a stat normally showed by BF2 or BF2S, but I would be very surprised to hear if anybody normally made over 100 in just the Commander score alone). If you scored 146 points that round, I'm willing to bet that was a combined score for the map, assists(capture/damage/kill) AND Commander points.

Commander points can be earned just by right clicking on requests for supply/arty/orders, issuing orders, etc. Concentrate on taking care of your WHOLE team and making sure they have what they need to win each map and you will easily get the Staff Officer Ribbon. Trust me, it's not all that hard.

If you have any questions or want to join me in a game so I can show you, let me know and we'll coordinate something.

It's not the long fall that kills you, but rather the sudden violent stop at the end that does the trick...

      PS-

I noticed this after I attached my SIG, on the right of my SIG are a few of the ribbons I earned(I currently have nine ribbons, the Staff Officer Ribbon would be shown 2nd or 3rd to last of what I have). They are shown in, what is known as, their "Order of Precedence". This means, the most coveted/valorous awards are at the top(top-left when worn on a uniform and there are more than one on the top row) and "lesser" awards towards the bottom. Along with the precedence, is the(unspoken) how-hard-was-it-to-get criteria. Typically, the easier something is to get(the more people of any skill level who can get it) the lower the precedence. Make sense? That's why everybody is saying it's easy to get, because it is. So relax, when you start taking good care of your troops, and your troops don't screw you over by running into an artillery drop that you make(which you can warn each squad about by right clicking on the squad number in the commanders screen during a game), you'll get it.

      Until then, good luck!
