3 Medics should be referred to as Corpsmen!

4 Support should have the 240G (give assault option of M203 or SAW)
Hehehe you got it Marine... 8541 Corpsman right here HM3... was anyways :)

I was good friends with my first Corpsman my first year in the fleet and we would party hard out in Okinawa (this was 99 before there were any liberty restrictions on the island and us non-rates could stay out as late as we wanted and go anywhere-with the exception of Whisper Alley and The Stage:laugh: ) Anyhow, he would hook us up with an IV bag almost every Saturday morning and the party would start all over again IV bags are the BEST remedy for a hang over:laugh:

        Re: Unforgivable for Marines

Normally I would agree with anything protesting the arcadish' nature of BF2, but, EA didn't tell any lies or mislead on this one.

Well before the same was released EA stated that they were going to focus on the Arcade aspects of a FPS; leaving the realism to the modders who enjoy that type of gameplay. Which, in turn, means they were NEVER trying to in ANY way portray realism... EA kinda' covered its own ass from feedback like this before the game even hit shelves.

...now, on another note. They could have AT LEAST made the weapons hit what you aim them at in some logical order (Instead of a Carbine being the End-All of sniping, vs. and SVD) but, once again, EA said that this was going to be an Arcade style game.

They didn't lie... and you still bought it, what the heck did you expect!?

And as a btw... this is NOT an Arcade Game. It is a FPS... First Person Shooter. Whether EA mislabeled the game... not my fault. But this is a FPS.
Did anyone else find this funny? I mean, this is like THE most ignorant line of have EVER read in a forum. This is worse than the world blaming one man (George W.) for all of its problems...

Just a tad bit of information for the producer of this comedy; THERE ARE MULTIPLE CATAGORIES OF FIRST PERSON SHOOTERS! (Arcade happens to be one of them)...that's all.

You can also do this in Splinter Cell.

Dear God, not another "zOMG! DAT'S INNACCURATE!11" thread...
                  • Why do they pull the slides on the pistol when inserting a new magazine?
                  • Why doesn't the slide lock back on the last round?
                  • Why do they always pull the charging handle on the M16A2, regardless of it being the first magazine or not?
                  • Why don't most weapons have +1 bullet, for the chambered one?
                  • Why don't they use the bolt closure device instead?
                  • Why is an SRAW guided?
                  • Why does the MEC use RIBs, and on top, why does the said RIB have an M60, when the MEC is using AKs and Russian material?
                  • Why is the USMC using the F15E?
                  • Why is an F18 on land-based strips?
                  • Why do the Chinese look Korean?
                  • Why don't the Seahawks have the correct USMC/NAVY painting?
                  • Why does the Seahawk design variate from the real thing?
                  • Why does the M203's 40mm rounds explode on close impact, when they have a minimum range/time?
                  • Why do people miraculously fix the Seahawk/Black Hawk in mid air?
                  • Why can you heal someone by throwing a pack at them?

The list can go on and on only with one answer -- It's a game. Many things were factored out because DICE didn't bother to fully research. Not only that, but many things that work in real life would make a game boring, unbalanced and so forth. Such as the M95's damage. The accuracy should be definetely toned up, but a one-hit-kill would mean sniper-fest. It's all for the gameplay.

Minus a few annoyances such as the Seahawk/Black Hawk, M95 and G3 accuracy being appalling, the in-team autoswitching (regardless of rank) the bugs and all that, I think the game works just fine as is. :p

I like things realistic myself, but simple fact is, they should've simply slapped it as a "U.S. Force" rather than the USMC. Would've saved a lot of trouble. I mean, the MEC is fictional, right? So why not make the U.S. one a fictional one? Or are you going to tell me Middle East countries dropped their AK-47s/AKMs and traded them in for 5.56 x 45mm chambered AK-101s? :p

lol, yah, its a game, not RL

As far as peeking around corners - used by MOHAA and other games, there were numerous "lean hacks" where u would see guys running around with their head permanently tilted to one side.....I wouldnt suggest using this feature in any game..

This is why I miss the dev's from Desert Combat. You knew they were reading the message boards, and taking peoples advice on the game. Some of this stuff can be put off as "being a game" and some of it is them not caring. I mean, I definately think the m95 should be 1 shot 1 kill, and little things like calling the medics a corpsman DO make a difference. Same thing with special forces, and recon. How long could it possibly take for them to change simple stuff like this? 10 minutes?

I agree with you about changing the details. They shouldn't be that hard to do.
If you have ever play CS 1.6 you would not like a one shot-one kill sniper rifle. Just too damn annoying. Everyone would use it

                            Re: Unforgivable for Marines

Hulka, I agree, but you've got to face this: it's a retail game, it's not DC. Now, in DC or any other mod, they mostly would change smaller things and release a patch. Seeing it as the developers visited the forums and all that, it was easy. If people liked it, they added/changed it.

EA/DICE have launched a retail, paid-for game. It's different. Don't ask me how, but it is. For starters, developers very rarely ever pop up. Second, these minor things, while considered small "luxuries" in a game such as DC, would be out of the question in BF2. I mean, most people know Spec Ops as Spec Ops and as many would ask "Why are they called Force Recon now?!". It's set up, they won't change that. Just as they won't change any of the weapons, nor planes. If it's "final", it's "final" for them. They might change a thing or two in the expansion, but not in this version. All they'll do from now on is change what's causing problems, such as bugs. Don't expect new features, other than basic things that should've been put in at launch (Favourites, etc.).

It's that simple: DC was free from the start, the devs did it for fun, themselves and the community. BF2 is paid for, and patches mean not gaining any money, so they won't add features. If you want new features, you pay for them in the expansion. That's the way it works. :p

I'm not referring to hacks, but if you have any basic idea of game design you should understand that every aspect within the game can be used against it...

CS 1.6 had a 'team radar'. Programmers used that same code to allow that radar to show everyone, not just their teammates. This has been done time and time again with various features from various games. Including 'lean' as a function opens it up to haxors..I'm happy knowing the game seems clean for the most part...

I have an idea that would really affect gameplay too and add realism.
I'm ****ed of coz i have to shoot the same guy round after round.. I think when you're killed, that should lock your CD-key so that you have to buy a new game before you can play again(i'm sure we'd get EA to agree to this )

This would really make it more real.. actually so real that everyone would just camp for weeks and months like in real war. This would be so cool. And also you'd have to be at least a lieutenant to fly planes like here in Finland (so that would propably be at around 10,000,000 global points).

And what i miss the most is the basic infantry training and drilling... marching in lines and crawling around before you can even have a gun of your own. They really shoul've implemented that in the game .
