What the true story is is that aliens came to earth and said whoever is the strongest people can have all our technology for free. We dont care how you decide who is strongest, just as long as someone is. So then the US, china and MEC all fight to prove they're stronest, meanwhile the aliens are sitting up in their spaceship laughing their heads off, cos in the expansion when all the countries are really weak from fighting, they're gonna come on down blow everyone else to hell and take over, independence day style.

You're thinking of SEAL Team 6.
The different branches of the military have their own special forces with their own mission that supports their branch's doctrine. Much easier to google than for me to explain the differences. Generally, all SF units provide recon and counter intel functions. And what branch of service they are part of dictates their areas of operation, training, equipment, etc.

and for the USAF- there is a couple i believe, one being the pararecue jumpers, and Combat Controllers.
and from what i've read, the chinese can gather up to 10 million militiaman excluding their active duty military personel and reserves. and for the MEC, i dont think that'll happen, unless the US really ****ed off Saudi Arabia since Saudi Arabia is prolly the few if not the only Muslim country that is considerably close to the US.
BF2 obviously not taking place in the present days, since the chinese Z-10 attack choppers are still in its research and development phase i believe. dont be so sure that the US can beat China easily btw, look at the chinese history, they've dont many great things. as for carpet bombings that would be near impossible to do in china, considering they have 1.4B people in that little country, unless you can hit them with very high accuary (which i'm sure the US can do) you'll kill alot of innocent lives
as for the story, i think its EA's if not DICE's idea for us to start shooting the living hell out of each other.(in writing this, this makes me thing the government have something to do with the game, as a form of propaganda perhaps?? or recruiting methods??)

Once upon a time in quiet city of karkand a baby MEC soldier was making sand castles. "I have the prettiest castle ever!" he shouted in happiness. He build a town around the castle and called his friend Jon Shu to play with him.
While they were playing suddenly a USMC soldier came and pusshed them both down and ruined the whole sand world those poor kids had made. MEC soldier started crying. "Crybaby!!" US baby marine yelled, but PLA baby soldier was brave and stood up, and gave USMC baby a major wedgie. "BYYYAAHH!! Ill be back!! BYYAAAHH!!" cried USMC and ran away.
John, the USMC baby went to usmarines.com/forum and whined how two bad boys had teased him. "We have to payback this." one replied and whole army of USMC soldiers came to karkand and some went to china.
MEC and PLA childs went crying home and told their moms what happend. Moms then made their dads go to talk about this and make a agreement.When they were leaving with their voldaks, USMC troops started shooting all over the places and they went to local pub to get everyone to counter this assault.
Same happend in china expect pub was a temple and karkand was a local gas station in daging oilfields.
OK, this war could never happen, China and the US both know any war between eachother will never lead to anything more then mass casualties on both sides. Also, remember that China is a big-ass country and getting all those men from all those places will take time... Time our subs can use to launch Tomahawks at railways and roads.
But here's where it gets interesting... How many Chinese still think that Communism is the next wave of human evolution? When they look at their country, then ours, it becomes terribly obvious that defection will lead to a better, more comfortable life.
As for the 1.4 Billion Chinese and the hella lotta MEC guys, they'd over run us. Plain and simple. We have superior troops, but they'd just throw wave after wave of men at us untill we crumble. Does anyone remember the Korean war? The N. Koreans would send 500 men up a hill at an emplacement of 50 US soldiers... By the time they captured the hill, they were reduced to 200 men. They would await reinforcements and repeat. The lack of compassion for human life and the lack of faith for Glorious Communism would cause mass defections, weakening their forces and providing us with valuble info.
Also, the MEC and Chinese tanks are sh!t compared to the Abrams, the MEC/China Airforce would be obliterated, and their Navies would suffer the same. RL isn't balaced, and the second-rate Russian-made equitment that makes up a majority of their Airforce and Navies are decades old. The MiG-29 Fulcrum is dangerous, but no match for an F-22, and the Akula is quiet, but not quiet enough to evade a Seawolf.
Then theres our Allies... Briton would certantly help, and the Russians might help their Chinese buddies. Then NATO would be invoked, Briton would call on the Commonwealth, the N. Koreans would run to their Chinese brethren with aid, and S. Korea would join us. Japan would join us, and Israel would also join up as MEC rolled their tanks tward the Gaza Strip and West Jeruselm (Sorry for SP...). Cuba would watch and not do anything, being so close to us (Only 90 miles!). Eastern Europeans might join the Russkies, still feeling duty to their Cold War friends, and the world plummet into WW III. The crazy-ass North Koreans would launch nukes every Nuke-wielding nation on earth would respond in kind. We would all die.
In short, no story can explain away the lack of realism. Realism may not be the focus of the game, but it should be the focus of the story.
