yep hate bunny hopping too. a good way to get rid of it is to add a time delay between hops eg if you want the jump over a wall you should have to wait say 10 seconds before you can use the jump ability again. that'll stop it. jumping then is only used to get over obstacles and not in shoot outs.
I don't think much of it as a tactic, myself. I like to fire a few bursts and then stand there as though I'm out of ammo. Then when they (finally) stop jumping around, and try to shoot me while I'm "reloading," I just blow them away because even I'm a better shot than most people that use it for a serious tactic all the time. The best players I've seen don't hop.
It takes away from the depth of the game to see people doing this, though, and I would like it a lot if this was fixed.
For me, I really dislike seeing players Bunny Hop in FPS Tactical Military type games. It looks so cheap and arcade like. It always reminds me of Quake or CS or some other unrealistic arcade shooter.
Not that I want BF2 to be TOTAL realism, no, I didn't say that. I want it to be believable. But seeing players continuously jump up and down andup and down 10 feet in the air while shooting their rifle or grenade launcher or hand grenade makes me want to vomit. It is perfectly acceptable in Quake /Unreal arcade type games that have no basis on Modern Military style games ,unlike BF2.
You may say: Yeah, but they PUT that in there!"
To that I say: "It's cheap. It's low class. It works, but it makes you look like a no skill dork".
The only way I can see this changing is if EA/DICE lowered the HEIGHT of the jump. Currently the player can jump 8 to 10 feet in the air! Straight up and down! He jumps so high he disappears from the screen! He's using it to gain an advantage tha would NEVER be there in the first place.
I mean, if we can do that in this type of game, how come I can't have Jump Boots and Powered Armor and Heat Seeking bullets?
SO I ask you, dear Gamer, fellow player.........do YOU want to see this "bunny hopping" madness end or stay AS IS? If so, please post your thoughts here and let (hopefully) EA/DICE hear your voice.
All I would ask is to REDUCE the HEIGHT of the jump, and perhaps add a little more drain to the Stamina Bar so you can't keep going up and down and up and down and up and down..............forever. That's it. I don't want to completely remove the jump, AND I don't want to create a total REALISM game. Just tone this stuff down, it's lame, and a cheap way to fight your enemy.
What they really should do is when you come to a low wall, you just press forward and it'll play an animation of you climbing over the low wall instead of you jumping 6 feet into the air, but that's neither here nor there.
A possible solution to bunny hopping is:
When you jump you use up 1/3 of a full stamina bar
If you don't have enough stamina, you don't jump
While jumping you are considered "sprinting" for purposes of using your kit
My solution: back away and shoot the bastard bunny till he's dead. It works every time because bunny hopping isn't really a good defensive or offensive tactic. Bunny hopping might trick a n00b but the veteran player (six or more hours at BF2) needs only to gather his wits about him, take his time and blow that bunny away.

sooo ... this doesnt happen to you ... ever ... right?
There is no way they will mess with the height of jumps. They would need to redesign the maps. I hope they don't mess with the possible frequency of jumps because there are plenty of perfectly legit uses for jumping (can't count the number of times I have needed to hop from one side of a low wall to the other repeatedly to avoid tank fire while reloading my AT).
I think that what they should do is make people take double damage when jumping. That way the jump would remain useful if you wanted to, you know, jump over something, but it would not be a useful CQC defensive tactic.
the best tactic is just too take a page out of their book and noob tube them in mid air just aim at the ground over where they are jumping and boom they fly higher and you walk away laughing at how noob he is

duh yeah ... great idea ... jumping over a wall to evade a tank-shell just to get killed by its 51% x 2 splash damage deadlyness? I dont think so
btw: ive never encounterd a situation where I had to jump more than 2 times in a row to get somewhere/to get away from something ... lets say: make it a max of 3 jumps in a row (instead of 5...6 or whatever it is atm) and Im fine ...
Edit: ah the heck .. just dont let them shoot for (0.5sec x jumpNo)
