    The "Bunny Hopping"

    Hey folks,

For me, I really dislike seeing players Bunny Hop in FPS Tactical Military type games. It looks so cheap and arcade like. It always reminds me of Quake or CS or some other unrealistic arcade shooter.
Not that I want BF2 to be TOTAL realism, no, I didn't say that. I want it to be believable. But seeing players continuously jump up and down andup and down 10 feet in the air while shooting their rifle or grenade launcher or hand grenade makes me want to vomit. It is perfectly acceptable in Quake /Unreal arcade type games that have no basis on Modern Military style games ,unlike BF2.

You may say: Yeah, but they PUT that in there!"

To that I say: "It's cheap. It's low class. It works, but it makes you look like a no skill dork".

The only way I can see this changing is if EA/DICE lowered the HEIGHT of the jump. Currently the player can jump 8 to 10 feet in the air! Straight up and down! He jumps so high he disappears from the screen! He's using it to gain an advantage tha would NEVER be there in the first place.
I mean, if we can do that in this type of game, how come I can't have Jump Boots and Powered Armor and Heat Seeking bullets?

SO I ask you, dear Gamer, fellow player.........do YOU want to see this "bunny hopping" madness end or stay AS IS? If so, please post your thoughts here and let (hopefully) EA/DICE hear your voice.

All I would ask is to REDUCE the HEIGHT of the jump, and perhaps add a little more drain to the Stamina Bar so you can't keep going up and down and up and down and up and down..............forever. That's it. I don't want to completely remove the jump, AND I don't want to create a total REALISM game. Just tone this stuff down, it's lame, and a cheap way to fight your enemy.

Call of Duty had a similar problem before it was patched. Now when you jump in CoD, when you come down for a moment you're at walk speed, and you can't jump again until that moment is over.

But you can't lessen the height of the jump in BF2, we'd never be able to jump over most of the guardrails or get up some of those inclines.

I must admit that I don't see this as often as I used to. I play mainly on Australian servers and the thing most seem to do is the insta-prone in mid-air trick, which I think is even more annoying than the bunny hoppers.

If someone bunny hops you have at least a chance to kill them or give their head an extra air conditioning hole, but try and hit some lamer who insta-prones in mid-air and kills you with one shot before you can even hit your mouse button. That's the most annoying thing is combat against.

Who cares if it is. Its not arcade to the extent of other games where it should have michael jordans dunking with nade launchers.

Bunny hopping needs to go. I see a lot of high rank players doing, and it lowers the gameplay of the game.

What they really should do is when you come to a low wall, you just press forward and it'll play an animation of you climbing over the low wall instead of you jumping 6 feet into the air, but that's neither here nor there.

A possible solution to bunny hopping is:
                        1. When you jump you use up 1/3 of a full stamina bar
                        2. If you don't have enough stamina, you don't jump
                        3. While jumping you are considered "sprinting" for purposes of using your kit

                          Re: The "Bunny Hopping"

I bunny hop when I come face-to-face with a tank or APC. I've counted now 5 tanks and one APC that I've single-handedly brought down from full health to destroyed simply by bunny hopping away from the bullets whilst reloading my AT rockets. Unrealistic? Yeah, maybe. Funny? HELL yeah. I play AT a lot and when I take down vehicles I do my best to remain hidden so they don't blow me into next week, but when you're out in the open and a tank rolls up, what are you going to do? Plus, if the drivers were smart and noticing that their bullets weren't hitting me, they could easily have just run me over with no problem. But they instead go wild with their cannon rounds while I hop my way to victory! Besides, I think since a tank vs. one non-C4 powered infantry is a bit of an unfair fight, so I'm gonna even it up anyway I can.

But bunnyhopping during a gunfight, no. I'll admit, I usually drop down prone if the person I'm shooting at is a distance away, but not bunnyhop. The only time I bunnyhop with a gun is if I have a shotgun and I'm facing someone who's prone. It gives a bit better angle of attack.

LOL no doubt! Yet another thing they could do that they don't (although if I'm close enough to a wall they will, but most of them don't think to shoot at the ground). It's amazing that they let me get away with such a tactic, to be honest. I guess I must just be playing against some really stupid tank drivers sometimes.
