I don't really think a screenshot will show the smoothness of gameplay and even if it has the fps on it it's irrelevant because again fps can be high 1 second and in the toilet the next.

Personally I couldn't run high textures even with 1GB of RAM without getting stuttering. Go figure.

ok matey choose a spot in which to take a screenshot ingame (somewhere with a large open area kurba dam maybe) and we will compare my 2gb result to your 512mb, screenie your ingame settings aswell

it wont prove that its 'smooth as silk' but it will prove you are running high settings

If he is happy with 40fps and load stuttering what is the point?

No one can tell me that the game doesn't load stutter, even 1GB. I have a pretty high end machine and i still got that on 1GB. 2GB is the only thing that cures the load stutter, period. Well, that and low settings i imagine.

Can you recite what settings you have on high/med/low, your AA settings and also the performance settings in the display control panel of the graphics card. i.e performance - quality and the AA/AF settings.

I have 512 RAM, P4 2.4 ghz and a 9800 Pro. I run overall pretty good but the downside is joining a game. I have to load all the textures and I sometimes don't even get 1 FPS. Again, I only have 512 RDRAM so that might be the problem...

*sigh* Stalin is 15. Factually incorrect in his assertions. RAM and mobos depend on many factors like ECC will not run on Non ECC but Non-ECC Is backward compatible. Buffers, speed, channels etc all need to be considered.

I beleive from extensive building that there is not a cfig that will run BF2 on less than 1gb on high. 2 is optimal and 8xAGP with a 256 GFX card.

1gb is *the* standard now. Only BF2 broke the standard, but so far, 1gb for games is becoming the mainstream standard, with 1.5 and 2.0 being the high end level. 512mb is good for non-gamers...

Sides, why not go 1gb? Ram is still dirt cheap (until AMD goes to DDR2 with the M2 socket).
