I just put a router into the mix (D-Link), still have problems. Called them, they said it could be something to do with the allotted 24hr bandwith. Apparently I get 500MB per 24 hours. So after only transferring about 80MB or so (checked the bytes transferred on my network properties), started playing and got disconnected again. So I really dont think its that.
Ill try this port forwarding thing I guess, I dont think it can hurt, so if you would explain what I need to do, it will be done :) (BTW, Computer is hardwired to the router, while my laptop is using the WiFi only when its on, dont know if that will make a difference)
Problem with me is, I dont even use a router, so any of this port forwarding or MAC Cloning won't work. I also dont have high hopes for those of you who are using routers combined with Fusion. Odds are the changes won't work anyway. I'm curious to take my computer to one of my friend's places (not on Fusion network) to see if it is definitely localized to Fusion's service. Of course i'd have to set up my whole computer and play for a little bit to see if i get booted...

Thats what Im thinking as well.....kinda irritating, I guess the BF2 networks shouldnt be so sensitive, but im not sure how you would adjust that.
You need to determine exactly where the packets are being lost. A shareware program at www.PingPlotter.com will assist you with this. I have had to use it to log and graph troubled routers in order to prove to my ISP that it was their router.
In short, you will launch Ping Plotter and enter the IP address of the game server you are about to join. It will trace it and monitor all the nodes and when packet loss happens, you will be able to see where, when, how long and how much.
This may help you determine if it is your PC or not. But showing the ISP that their router is broken or over-sold is priceless.

I got the same probbs and tried it out, i dont have any packetloss yet
but have some latency showing in the timeline graph..
Dont know how to locate (hop) the latency though..

Well I ran it a few times...took me awhile to figure it all out. I noticed there are a slew of nearly identical IP addresses which I am assuming are a lot things Fusion are throwing my connection around with. But for the most part, there was extremely little to 0 packet loss (Err). Argh....WHY ME!!
I have used something like in the far past, but dont remember the name. Does any one know a good ping tracer that actually "maps" all the points your ping goes through, so I can see if it really is like 8 different things right here @ my apt's or nearby or what the deal is.
I hate to burst our bubble, but I was reading another post where a guy had similar problems while living in an aparment with Fusion's service. Only problem is, his friend, who lived in another building (also in fusion's network) has ZERO problems whatsoever. I dont remember the link to the post, but this guy was just as frustrated. So it seems it's NOT fusion, if his friend was able to play nonstop.
Regardless, i've decided to boycott playing BF2 until they fix all the problems. Day of Defeat:Source came out anyway, and it's awesome. Whatdoyaknow, DOD works 100% upon release...the guys at dice could learn a thing or two...

I've had this problem pop up out of nowhere three days ago. My ISP says everything is working correctly, so I'm going to wait for the next patch to see if that fixes whatever's going on.
Actually, I think something is up with the ranking servers because I too have noticed a great deal of lag in the past few days even with low pings. By watching ASE, I can see that server flux is all over the place and general packet loss is up across all servers.

You mention Melrose, are you here in Raleigh then? I am. I'd be interested to see what Fusion would have to say about that. They are pretty incompetent - I've had to call them several times. Perhaps we could get them to remove the monitoring system on one of our connections temporarily to see if we still had the problem.
