    Re: Thoughts on the M95

[QUOTE=Kayback]Actually the rounds are completely different as well.

In terms of out and out power, the SVD's round is the biggest. It's 7.62x54mm round fires the heaviest round the fastest. It launches a 185grain bullet at 2700fps, which gives around 300ft/lbs of energy. IRL it's closer to the .30-06 than the .308. But it's still a 2 hit to kill in game terms.

The M24's round is in the middle, it's 7.62x51mm NATO. It launches a 175 grain bullet at around 2500fps for a total of around 2500ft/lbs. Incidently it's the same round the G3 , L96A1, and the SCAR-H fires. Game terms it's also a 2 hit to kill round.

Then you get the AK's 7.62x39mm round. It's much less powerful than the other two. It launches a 123grain round at 2300fps to produce a measly 1500ft/lbs of energy. It's an assault rifle round instead of a higher powered battle rifle round like the other two. It's like the M16's round.

do you honestly believe any of those differences would be the difference between a fatal wound and a non fatal one, at a certain point it doesnt matter anymore. my point was, they are close enough in fact so that some one getting shot in the chest would be done. unless from some rediculous range.

I dont think the barret would be over kill in BF2 if they got rid of the fog and made the bullet drop and acuracey a bit more realistic but as it stands right now your right its just pointless you might as well just use the m24 or svd
because after all, they all drop some one in one shot to the head.

yer, being a .50 cal, thats half an inch in diameter or around 13mm, it should not only kill with one shot but have no bullet drop over distance. It should also disable a small land vehicle, helecopter engine and the bullet should go through 2 people if they are in line. It would help if the crosshairs were a bit finer too and the bang it makes should sound like the gates of hell opening up, not a mouse fart. lol

          Re: Thoughts on the M95

I think everything is fine like it is.
If you want to have it realistic then they should add more factors like wind. That would make sniping a lot more realistic. Sure, the M95 should have a 1 shot kill as it is 50cal. But as it is a really heavy gun you shouldn't be able to sprint with it.
Coming to that point where I always complain about the knife power. It's a one stab kill! Except for the sniper rifles with every other weapon you'll need at least two headshots to get the kill! Not realistic!

The unlock topic. Who said that the unlocks would be better than the default weapons. They are just different, with different features. If I play MEC medic I always choose the AK! Personally I think the L85 is crap. But that may be just me. If I play US medic I choose the G36E. Every weapon has it's point. Except for the default US and PLA AT weapons. These are really bad.
Just look at the pro and cons for each weapon and you'll see that no weapon is really that bad. I depends on the way you use them.

The M95 is there to take out pilots in choppers. That is it's feature, shoot through the cockpit. M24 is quite accurate, SVD is semi-auto L95A1 is a great rifle (good damage and accuracy at long range).
You should choose your weapon depending on how you play the game.

Choose the weapon and don't allow the weapon choose you!

if it were realistic it would have alot of bullet drop and go through at least five people if they were standing in a line hehe

BF2 is such a different game though, you couldn't have a perfectly accurate 1-shot-kill sniper rifle in BF2. It'd be even more overpowered. The only thing that keeps the AWP in check in CS is that all the maps are small and confined (by BF2 standards at least). You can play angles, and use smokes and flashes to get around somebody with an AWP. Also, there's the fact that not everybody can afford an AWP every round - in BF2 you don't have to buy guns... Everyone and their brother would be running around with them.

An AWP in BF2 would just be bad news :p

I do wish they would change the M95 to make it better/useful, but I already posted what I think they should do to it.

                Re: Thoughts on the M95

M95 could work as a 1 shot kill if it was only able to fire in the prone like in PoE2 but really BF2 is not at all realistic so bitching about non realism is pretty dumb

the weapon is available to anyone with 250 global points, therefore it should NEVER be one-shot-one kill.

                  this isn't battlesnipe.

besides, you try firing an m95 accurately while simply crouching.

All though it is under powered it is neccesary to keep the game fair. If they made it as strong as it is in real life it would make a huge unbalance

True, but it'd be nice if it at least had something to separate it from the other rifles. The L96, M24 and M95 are all essentially the exact same, except that the M95 is less accurate and can go through glass... Would be cool if they had bigger differences than crosshair size and sound.

The M95 will always reduce a full health infantry soldier to 2 bars of health. Even if he is wearing bodyarmor like the Assault/AT/Support. The M24 & L96 get a penalty, full health will become 40% I think. Although I am not sure on the exact number, maybe somebody reading this can confirm it.

I don't disagree with that, but you said they are the same round, when all they have in common is the bullet diameter. There are plenty of differences asides from that.

The SVD's 7.62x54 and the M24's 7.62x51mm are close enough to be considered the same round in game terms, but the AK's 7.62x39mm is not even close to the same power category.

For the SVD and the M24, a solid torso shot out to around 800m will drop the target. While it might not kill him outright it will require an immediate casvak and he'd be "dead" in terms of not capable of being in combat any more. The AK's round won't have the same effect outside of around 400m, if you could get an AK to shoot accurately that far. There are plenty of maps with ranges bigger than that.

I dont think the barret would be over kill in BF2 if they got rid of the fog and made the bullet drop and acuracey a bit more realistic but as it stands right now your right its just pointless you might as well just use the m24 or svd because after all, they all drop some one in one shot to the head.
I dunnoe. Unrestricted viewdistances and one shot kill weapons would be annoying. Add in bullet drop (realistic) and wind (a realistic ammount) and it could be conceivable. Otherwise imagine the spawn camping going on things like Dragon Valley :)

Like I said, for it's use in BF2 at the moment, the M-95 is overkill, and has actually been nerfed way down from how it should be.

ElFipso, don't even get me started on the knife issue. Personally I HATE the fact you can charge at a guy shooting you wit a belt fed machinegun, absorb 3 hits, and dispatch him with a pathetic little limp wrist slash like you do in the game.

I'd like to see the knife either thrown away completely, or as you said, make it at least a 2 hit to kill weapon

This is a .50cal. It shoots a 700 grain FMJ at 2900feet per second.
                              This is a knife.

Ill ask [DUCKS]Black_Duck_1 if he can clarify this table ...

... its from his BF2 Weapons Chart

EDIT: nvm I already see what he is trying to convey here. The table is meant to be a summary of factors to be used in calculating the damage in conjunction with his damage chart.

                                So the M24 & L96 have a base damage of 95, which is reduced by bodyarmor to 62.7 (0.66 x 95).
The M95 has a base damage of 190. It always does 0.5 damage regardless of bodyarmor. Or in other words 95 damage (0.5 x 190).
