I was thinking (again!), not about the defibrillator, but about the M95 sniper rifle.
It is seriously underpowered. lets have a look why.
This rifle fires 50.cal bullets. These are extremely powerful.
This rifle is also called an "Anti Material Rifle". It is designed to shoot through metal, at tanks. It is considered inhumane to fire it on infantry, because quite simply it utterly destroys the area it hits.
In comparison with the M24 Rifle, we can look at the size of rounds fired by the rifles.
M24 - 7.62mm round
M95 - 50.cal Round
Now, anyone who knows anything about the sizes of rounds (sorry about the different scales, just know that 50cal is much larger than 7.62mm) will know that there is a huge difference here.
So why not a damage increase? The M24 hits with 95 damage. So does the M95.
This must be changed so it is actually a good reward for snipers (it can shoot through glass. Big reward!), and is as powerful as it should be.
Note: if anything i have said above is completely untrue, please tell me.
50 cal is 12.7 mm for comparison, and while the 50 cal does devastating dammage the .338 Lapua (OMG AWP!!!11) does even more. Still both 1 shot kills no matter what but one just makes a bigger hole even though the diameter is smaller.
Not like it makes any difference but, it looks like you got no idea what AKs fire
most common AK variants
AK-47, AKM, AK-103.....................................7.62x39
AK-74, AKSU-74...........................................5.45x 39
AK-101 AK-102 (export).................................5.56x45 (NATO)
its also good to not bring a nearly 2 year old topic back to life unless your post has some extremely valuable info that we absolutely GOT TO HAVE!!!!!
and yeah i like chillin on the mountain on dalian and pikkin off the unsuspected pilot in the J10. bhaaaa
but yeah i dunno this game isn't perfect but yeah they shouldchange that ASAP
then we would have like a army of snipers and stuff
no one would use anything else. And also you would get complaints that the game isn't fair from all them winers and haters.
just a thought.......
well there has to be some balance in the game so it doesnt just owns the s*** out of everyone else so if you do increase the damage to a 1 hit kill, then i think it would have to be fair to decrease accuracy/mag size, increase reload time or something along the lines of that
also you cant have everything in the game be the same as in real life, i mean look at the parachutes, you can pull it 3ft from the ground and you'll still live without taking any damage

Its always good to know what you talking about
Thank you for bringing up a 2 year old thread for that wonderful info.
I'd call you an idiot, but that wouldn't be fair to people who can't help being stupid.
What we need is for the M95 to actually do some real damage to choppers, tanks, APCs, etc. Getting hit by one in real life wouldn't be a "rofl noob trying to snipe a tank", it would be "****, my engine's gone. Bye bye world".
I'd be extremely content with it if they made it have 0 deviation (perfectly accurate) from a prone position if you hadn't moved in the past 2 seconds or whatever. They could increase its deviation to make it utterly useless when standing and somewhat useless when crouching to compensate, which would also make sense from a realism point of view (honestly it should probably be utterly useless in any position other than prone, if not deal damage to you when fired while standing/crouching, but meh - it's a game).
The fat crosshair would keep it from being completely overpowered at long range compared to the L96 and M24.
It'd be ridiculous to increase the damage it does to infantry, because at some point you have to consider game balance even if in the real world it would blow you to smithereens.
I like the idea of having it do a bit more damage to vehicles. I'm not sure how much it does now, but something on the order of like 5% damage would be about right I think.

The biggest bs in this game is the damage difference between weapons that fire the same round/same cartridge.
m24 308.
SVD 7.62mm or 308.
AK47/M57 7.62 or 308
all of these weapons fire the same ammo yet the damage they deal is completely different.
unfortunately the mods-yes- even pr have failed with weapon damage just as dice did.
another example would be the difference in damage between the M4 and M16 both use the same 223. same cartridge and every thing yet the m4 does less damage for some reason.
yeah there is going to be slight diferences in the way the round hits fired from
different guns but it wouldnt be as drastic as say one taking two rounds to do the job and one taking 3
and a 50 cal. I dont care where it hits you. you will not get back up maybe you wont be dead but you sure as hell wont be mobile.

actually a 50. even with a toungston dart wouldnt penetrate a tanks armor at least not a modern one, the rifle is made to engage apc's and other lightly armored things but It would be nice if you could shoot through a HMMWV and hit people that arent only behind glass.
and any dip **** who looks at animalmothers post and thinks that the LM is any where near the 50 BMG need only look at this.
50 BMG is the bigger one incase you couldnt figure that out that little dip **** 30. cal doesnt even compare.
Well the M95 is not waisted on ppl irl cause the bullets cost allot and its considered a waist so I dont get when they have this gun in the 1st place since its just for noob ejecting bad pilots.... ohh wait, thats a god dam gd reason to have it.

Actually the rounds are completely different as well.
In terms of out and out power, the SVD's round is the biggest. It's 7.62x54mm round fires the heaviest round the fastest. It launches a 185grain bullet at 2700fps, which gives around 300ft/lbs of energy. IRL it's closer to the .30-06 than the .308. But it's still a 2 hit to kill in game terms.
The M24's round is in the middle, it's 7.62x51mm NATO. It launches a 175 grain bullet at around 2500fps for a total of around 2500ft/lbs. Incidently it's the same round the G3 , L96A1, and the SCAR-H fires. Game terms it's also a 2 hit to kill round.
Then you get the AK's 7.62x39mm round. It's much less powerful than the other two. It launches a 123grain round at 2300fps to produce a measly 1500ft/lbs of energy. It's an assault rifle round instead of a higher powered battle rifle round like the other two. It's like the M16's round.
another example would be the difference in damage between the M4 and M16 both use the same 223. same cartridge and every thing yet the m4 does less damage for some reason.
Not really, it's easily explained by the M16's 20" barrel propelling the round faster than the 14.5" of the M4. 3000fps compared to 2600fps. As the threshold for the 5.56mm fragmenting is 2500fps, the M16 will have a longer "useable" range.
any dip **** who looks at animalmothers post and thinks that the LM is any where near the 50 BMG need only look at this.

While Animalmother's info might to two years old, it is a load of garbage. Anyone who uses the word "AWP" in a gun debate should be hit with a "deagle".
The .338 Lap Mag does not do anywhere near the damage a .50 BMG will do, however the trajectory of the .338 is closer to that of the .50 than the 7.62's, but it is less punishing to the shooter, and the guns are lighter. It also delivers killing wounds at 1000m, through body armour and the 7.62 is limited to around 800m, mainy due to accuracy issues.
The .50 has the long ranged sniper kill of around 2400m. :)
Personally I'd have used either a .338Lap Mag or a .300 Win Mag for the M95.
True you'd have to change the whole weapon, but Barrett are making a semi auto .338 Lap Mag and IIRC the Marines M40's are able to be chamberedin .300 Win Mag. It would explain the harder hitting without the problems of people expecting the .50 to remove heads intoto.
For what it's used in BF2, the M95 is overkill.
What we need is for the M95 to actually do some real damage to choppers, tanks, APCs, etc. Getting hit by one in real life wouldn't be a "rofl noob trying to snipe a tank", it would be "****, my engine's gone. Bye bye world".....

True. The .50 won't hurt a tank, but it is custom made to mess up light skinned vehicles. Especially if it's loaded up with SLAP ammo. The SLAP might not be as accurate as standard match ammo, but it should pose a real threat to parked aeroplanes/helicopters and be dangerous to light skinned vehicles.
I'd like to see a couple of small hitboxes on the non amroured vehicles to allow death by anti material rifle fire.
I'd also like to see something like the new Barett 25mm sniper rifle, or the NTW-20, which is now chambered in the 20x110mm round. For gameplay probably the NTW-20. Smaller mag and bolt action for balance. Have a payload of HEI :)

Not really. The .50 is often used against people.
Infact the current sniping record is, IIRC, held by a Canadian sniper in Afganistan, with an McMillan.50BMG at around 2400m.
