Will you leave BF2 when Quake 4 hits?

Nope, Quake has never done anything for me, even when it was first released. The only ones that will tempt me away for a short time are Star Wars Battlefront 2 (hey its almost the same if inferior but has ATATs) but I have a feeling it will be way too inferior and if Duke Nukem ever makes a return. Now you're talking. If Duke Nukem Whenever (or something like that...) ever actually comes out I will definately play that. Duke Nukem 3D was awesome. Gotta love his quotes; "It's time to kick ass and chew bubblegum...and I'm all outta gum".
"I'm gonna rip off your head and **** down your neck". etc etc

There's a certain charm about them tbh.

I will leave BF2 for Armed Assault but not for another doom3 wanna be game (Quake4), although, Quake Wars promises to have huge battles with futuristic armor, aircrafts, etc...definitely looking forward to that....

Nothing beats the Duke. You can have all your Master Chiefs and Gordon Freemans the Undisputed heavyweight Champion of them all is the Duke.

Duke Nukem Forever is rumoured to still be in development (though they have said that for the last 5 years) and its a FPS not some 3rd Person rubbish. If it ever sees the light of day I'll pick it up.

Quake 3 is still pretty amazing, so I think I will give Q4 a shot. BF2 is just too slow sometimes, with large maps and whatnot.

Although they are two very different FPS games, I will have to see which I like better- varied and slow, or fast!

Diffrent game for a diffrent group of gamers. I per-ordered it, but doubt my clan will play it. My son loved Q3 so it's more for him...and the T-shirt was pretty cool.

Many a night into the wee hours of the morning was spent at lan parties with Q3.....Great game. Never understood why so many people hated it.

What a shock, asking if people will switch from BF2 to Q4 on a BF2 forum...

They really are two different forms of FPS's altogether.

I have to say though, there are some heavy-hitters coming in the FPS realm coming very soon.
CoD2, CoD2: The Big Red One, Gears of War(drool), Quake4, SOCOM 3 to name a few. Xbox 360 is scheduled for this fall, so you know there's going to be some serious competition soon. I'm still waiting on the PS3.

one of my fave old school fps games that i don't think got a lot of attention was Rise of the Triad. that game was awesome. i remember a big thing for that was that you could shoot people like in the leg and they would fall down and beg for mercy. i think that was the 1st fps that you could hold 2 pistols/uzis at once.

no, I am not a quake guy, only played the very first edition of the game, same for unreal tournament, only played the first edition, not realy my style of online gaming, only fast action online game I play is counter strike

I couldn't stop playing Quake 1 and 2 when i was 7 years old, i did suck alot, yes, but it was fun nontheless, Quake 3 is boring. I loved the campaigns in 1 and 2.

Okay, now I just feel old. I was a sophmore in college when Quake 1 came out. When I was seven years old the Atari 2600 was still da bomb. Alas poor Pitfall Harry, I knew him well...

The Quake series of gaming in my opinion has always sucked beyond that of the original. The original was Quake, everything else after that was a marketing tool where Id would create hardware straining games that would try and force people to go out and buy top end video cards. I think Id was more concerned with its business partnerships with video card makers versus that of the customer with regards to what a gamer and younger gamers could actually afford to play their games.

Also, Quake 3 was a hackers paradise. Never have I seen so many config files that could manipulate the games looks to do everything from change the enemy shirt color to lime green right up to stripping almost all the beauty out of the game so you could attain the maximum fps possible.

I remember one time I was passed a cfg from someone in one of the Q3 leagues and when I executed it, it basically stripped the game down so much the result looked like maps made of modeling clay. Everything has a dull appearance, but the fps were at the maximum my card could produce. I was saying to myself that if this is what gamers have to go through to enjoy a game, it is not worth it.

I won't be buying Q4.
