*shakes his head in disbelief* how can such a simple idea that only benefits be so confusing to so many people
Limit Flag Capture Ability to Infantry

I completely disagree. I havn't read this entire thread but don't you people realise the problems this would create? Heres just some of them:
1. You would be completely vulnerable to artillery, many sites don't have much cover, atleast in a tank there is some protection.
2. camping snipers from far away would be a nuisance. With vehicles you can take cover and they can't do much but if there's a sniper a long way away it will just pick everyone off.
3. All the enemy has to do is camp in a tank watching the flag and slaughter all the infantry. You need tanks to protect yourself when you are stationary and the enemy is launching artillery or coming with tanks.
In general it would make capturing flags way harder, very bad idea.Comment

A lot of people are missing the point here, like the person above, the point is that you should not be in anyway, using the tank to cap a flag, this would mean hopping out of it too. if you are in a tank you need to support your team, provide covering fire etc. And not be getting into a enclosed space, like a flag area.Originally posted by glaekenThe problem with not being able to cap flags when in vehicles is you hop out to cap the flag and the enemy then hops in to take the vehicle kill you and stop you taking the flag. I am really talking about APC's and Tanks on this.
I am sure many of us have had something like this happen anyway from time to time but forcing players to get out of a tank or APC to cap would just make it happen all the time or worse have the armor driver not bother capping the flag and just spawn camp.
I think the idea is brillant, i do think the tank should get bonus points. maybe the flags have a larger cap radius for tanks, they still dont get flag cap points, and they cant make the flag go down, but if they are in the same area of a flag, that is being capped by infantry then they could get assist points. Having the larger cap radius for them, means they can go about there job of providing covering fire.
same goes for helis, let them get an assist point, but they cant cap it from the air, there must be infantry at the flag to cap.
There is only one issue i see with all this, and that is if you have no flags left, and you are the only person left in a tank, you would have to get out and cap it. But you should be supporting your team more so this situation should never happen. And if your facing a team that manages this, you would be dead anyway.
Once again Brillant idea :)Comment

I knew you could not read, there stands heliCAPTURES. moron .This is just a quickie to you saying that you NEVER said ANYTHING about Helicopters being delted.
Just, hitting you with a little bit of fact.
Have fun with it.
And people saying the one should stay in the vihicle and one take the flag, well, again, if you need two people to take a flag and only one to defent it, where is the balance.
Also, if you and your tank can't take the flag, you won't get want to get out of it, what will happen, yes, the guy stays at enemys base in his tank and kills everything what moves.
The vihicle capture isn't realistic but it is something realy needed to keep a good gameplay and balance, think about it plaese what things would happen if it was otherwiseComment

Clearly your the dumbsh1t here. The point of the game is to get points. The point of real life is not to get points. I don't know how you confuse the two, maybe your just not smart enough to seperate them. Why would you fly a blackhawk in the video game (for the idiots who think I'm talking about real like*cough*) when you get no points for transporting people(except DAA every 2 minutes) and the occasional DKA when badguys pop up. I know I wouldent want to fly a fixed rotored bullseye if there was little to no reward for doing it. Yes it does transport people places, but so do the other vehicles.....so why make the blackhawk different and take it's falg capping abilities without taking the others. IMO keep all vehicle capping, its easy to counter (with an IQ over 13 *cough* odinpalen*) keep repairing in the air also, without it the Bh will go down way too easy.Originally posted by OdinpalenThe point is for him to transport troops quicker to areas they may want to go. Now that is a stupid question. Why do we have real pilots in real life, for points? gesus get a life, stop posting dumb $hit. Smaller flag triggers would make mines alot easier cause you could just lay mines by the flag and stop the armor.
Black hawks capping is fine, just make it so you cant repair the bh in the air. You can killl a bh pilot with one at shot to the window, and nobody can take his spot cause his body is stuck in the seat. Of course only noobs don't know this stuff.Comment

Everyone has a right to their opinion, but, you're just wrong here; I'll tell you why:Originally posted by ud!tI completely disagree. I havn't read this entire thread but don't you people realise the problems this would create? Heres just some of them:

1. Artillery can and HAS destroyed tanks. Heck, tanks should tank damage from Arty more-so than infantry considering the odds a shell hitting Armor. Also, SF are on tap to disable Arty, if they do their job in support of the team, you won't have to worry about this.
2. Sniping is so gimped in this game, you can't be friggin' serious.
3. So what!? You shouldn't have gone in for a flag alone, without Anti-Tankers in your unit. Or! You should have maybe brought an APC or some Counter Armor for support. Heck, radio into your Commander and let him know you need Helo support... there are so many ways to destory a tank with proper team coordination that this claim doesn't even hold water.
Thanks for your input though, at least you're giving your honest opinion instead of insulting.

The only good Idea that I agree with is from hypeblade. Dependign on what you are in, the flag radius shoudl differ. Vehicles would need to be right up on the flag, infantry could be slightly further, helos would need to be hovering on top. This would in essence make the infantry raise the flag faster, and seems to make it fair(even though it already is) in my book and hopefully and one intelligent enough to spell jesus(not gesus...good try though odin)mine. But I also believe alot of Paas' ideas are wrong.Comment

when one artilery shell drops like 10 feet from infantry, they are dead, when one artilery shell hits a tank, he still stands.Originally posted by {WP}PaasEveryone has a right to their opinion, but, you're just wrong here; I'll tell you why:

maybe you can't snipe, but other people know how to work with it
and again, answer may questions paas, why must you get out of a vihicle to take a flag and the enemy can stay in the vihicle to defend it.
And why should you be with more then one to take a flag but only one to defend it .
Serious balance isues here pal.
Have you read my thread above about the helicaptures paaz ? when you acused me from things ? you pieve of s h i t, crowl back in your mothers A S S please, and you will fit in perfectly because I screwed her big fat A S S just yesterday.Comment

EA or DICE rather, understands that the MAJORITY of folks just wanna frag with a machine gun. Infantry Vs. Infantry. Thats why Special Forces pack will be comming out.
Nothing sucks worse then having a squad, attacking another squad, in an awesume show of teamwork between both teams to defend/attack the flag, Only to have some tank or cluster bomb su, spoil the fun. Least thats how i feel.Comment

I don't mind the idea of infantry only capping, and I think it could work and be fun.
Personally I prefer more of a compromise though. The Battlefield series has always featured vehicles, and not in a strict support role. BF2 is a departure from 42 in terms of speed though, so I think some change is justified.
As I've said elsewhere, there should not be any capping from the air. The flags represent control of ground, and you fundamentally cannot do that without being in contact with it. No more capping while airborne.
However, any ground based unit, armour or infantry, can control ground. I think that you can make an argument along these lines with some consistency that you should be able to cap from inside a vehicle on the ground. To moderate things though, my other suggestion would be along the lines of one made earlier in this thread - when it comes to flag capping, make a single vehicle cap at the same speed as a single trooper, regardless of how many are inside. This would mean that the single tank or APC would have to sit still, vulnerable, for a looong time to actually cap a point. If they want to cap faster, some of the occupants are going to have to bail out.
BTW I note with some interest the posters who advocate the requirement to have a trooper actually involved in the raising of the flag. I don't support such a change. The flag is symbolic only. If you want to claim that the act of raising the flag is more realistic, let's get even more realistic and remember that real soldiers don't fight over flagpoles.Comment

yes, some people just won't understand this, it's battlefield and not counter strike or something like that, those gys should go and play AA, CS, .... if they don't like the gameplay of battlefieldComment
