Why do people care if someone else "stat pads"?

I think some you guys dont actually know what the term stat padding means, especially you Samelson.

Stat padding is defined as doing things in game that are not in the flow of the game and are not intended to win but to raise a statistic to the exclusion of all else.

Just giving ammo and health is part of the game and is needed. Two guys sitting at the side of the map, one throwing nades while the other constantly rearms him is stat padding.

I've heard EA has a system that tracks down these stat-padders, and a few peeps have already had their scores reset. I certainly hope you're next on their list.
Imo this isn't half as hars of a punishment as it should be. Players doing stuff like this should have their CD key globally banned - atleast from ranked servers, but that's just me.

Man, on mastuur city just spawn as specops, drop 4 c4 on the flagpole (with jumping) and wait for the BH. BOOM. 6 kills and 18 points. (each kill counts as flag defense, and worth 3 points) I usually get gold star against BH whoring teams. 3rd time they won't come to that base, that's for sure. :evil:

Now working for veteran explosives.. :) I'm at 250 kill, 50%.

Actually, the reason that most people have problem with stat padders is that they do it in populated servers, taking away 3 players from the game that could be helping out the team.

Surely if there giving out medi packs or ammo to gain points then they are helping? In fact surely there doing exactly what there supposed to be doing? Isn't that the whole idea of a stats system? To encourage people to work together and help each other ingame and in so doing help themselves by gaining points?

They don't work together and help others..
They find a silent corner of the map, and one guys lobs grenades into nowhere, while the other constantly resupplies him to up his points. Where's the help or usefulness in that? They're just ****ing up the game for their teammates..

hey man i applaud you for having the guts to start a thread like this. At least your honest about the issue unlike many people on this forum.

To be honest no it doesnt bother me. Why should it ? it is a game but too many people have their heads shoved up the stats arse to notice it is a game. People from time to time get bored and they paid there money for this game to have fun. What happens if people dont have fun ? they muck about hence the revive knifing etc you name it weve all been there. What i would say though to those who do it is EA DO LOOK at stats and if youve only played a week and have your expert knife and pistol it is a giveaway.

What would bother me is anything outside of stat padding like aimbots , wallhacks and hacks which allow you to see where people are. Now thats when i get pissed off. The stat padders i can beat outright with skill any day the people who cheat you cannot

What's the point of the ranking system if stat padding is allowed? I played a game yesterday in Mashtur and there was one squad in a blackhawk that had 4 guys as engineers, 1 pilot, and a sniper. I took a screenshot of their scores at the end and the pilot had like 105 points with no kills and no deaths, and the other guys were in the high 80's and 90's. I've seen clans do the same thing with ammo and health. Sit back at the main base and throw grenades and keep giving ammo. They never leave the base and they come in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. How is that fair? At least the guys in the blackhawk were capping flags. I usually just go into a different server.

It's not their stats that piss me off, it's the fact that a squad on my team is effectively left out of battle do to "stat-padding". Suddenly an even 10vs10 game becomes a very unbalanced 10vs6 fight, because 4 ****ers on my team are acting like idiots in the middle of nowhere, doing NOTHING to help their team win.

Allow me to break your post down and address each issue you bring up separately.

This type of gameplay is not considered 'stat padding.' This type of gameplay is a demonstration of solid teamwork and dedication to helping your team win the match.

People that stat pad do not earn their points, ribbons, medals or awards. These people take away from the over all 'fun factor' of the game by receiving gold medal after gold medal every map with their 200+ point maps. This does not allow the 'honest' players to receive gold medals for their hard won efforts of trying to win the match.

According to EA's EULA agreement, (you know, that thing you agreed to when you installed the game?) stat padding or otherwise finding ways to inflate your points artificially is against EA's EULA policy.

As I said before, it ruins the fun factor for everyone else in the game. People artificially inflate their stats, which negates anyone from receiving Gold/Silver/Bronze medals that they honestly worked hard for.

Personally, I have no respect for stat padders whatsoever. People that are caught stat padding on the TFH server are summarily banned and kicked permanently. My disdain for their kind of 'fun' knows no bounds.

you made a lot of good points there. it also has to do with integrity too. i'd say most people play the game it was meant to be played. the stat padders are just cheaters, basically. also if you are trying to be high ranked on the ladder board, you can't compete against stat padders if you play normally.

this is also a team game where teamwork is almost required to win. if several people are out stat padding, then they are not contributing to the teamwork.

yea thats true berren. The only time ive been in a situation like that were 3/4 usmc were having knife fight against 2/3 mec we won the round but i do accept the point how if for example we lost that round then yeah i would be pissed too. But at the end of the day id either leave the server and go to another server or turn the computer off and go relax with the missus

Scenario:

3 friends go on the server with the intention to raise points.

One player plays as any class he wants to raise stats in. So we will put him on the China team. His two friends want to spawn as medics on the US team. All three will find some spot far off out of the main battle areas, preferrably near an out of bounds area.

The one player for China shoots one medic. The other medic revives him. So that is a point for revive and a point for the one who shot the medic. Now it is the other medics turn to make a point, so the enemy player shoots him now and the other medic can revive him. This keeps going round and round until all the tickets are used up.

This is a prime example of illegal padding of points. These three players in the scenario are not contributing the game at all and will have an overinflated score in the end for kills and the other two in honor score.

In reality they are cheating the ranking system along with wasting 3 spots for real players waiting for a chance to get on the server. This happens all the time on official servers.

If you play commander, check and see where your troops are and sometimes you might find an odd dot or two someplace off of the far map away from the battle and then check the scores and there you will have your points padders.

lol last time that happened i dropped artillery on them :laugh: it was a clan server though so i promptly got kicked and banned :p which reminds me avoid the cta clan server. Those guys like to abus admin powers and kick people for no reason meh didnt bother me i just banned all cta members from my server :evil:
