Ya, but I've found it's pretty powerful. When you can hit something they go down fast, espically with the MP5. The thing that bugs me about AT is that they're not very good at taking out armor!!!!! The AT rockets need to be more powerful, because right now they suck.

I disagree, if you made them more powerful it'd defeat the purpose of a tank entirely. You just have to use them in teams.

Same thing as the BH, just tanks can't auto heal themselves the whole time. 2 AT guys from different directions will take out a tank in no time. If one person could do it all the time alone, what would be the point of the tank? I think the balancing is fine.

I have to add one point: you are not able to steer normal bullets.
Good addition. I can't believe I left that one out. :)

Yeah, you can literally guide the rocket you fire, which really helps when sniping someone or a vehicle from a distance. I've shot down helicopters with the SRAW.

I also love taking down snipers with it--they never think you'll actually hit them and they just lay there.

Dont blame it on The SMG's and DAO, Pistols are pretty decent at mid range shots if you know how to use them. Another fact is for some strange reason the Anti tank class has no grenades. Which is a bummer, seeing as every class has them. So snipers on roofs or taking out lots of people in an area.

I think most people think its an RPG and its going to explode on impact, but it just is meant to penetrate armor, mostly the reason why it goes through vehicles.

You have enough time to see the rocket coming so you can just sidestep and then own them while they are reloading. ( Often hard as you have taken that time to get a clean shot then you have to move, sacraficing your life to get a kill. )

Unless the person I'm fighting is extremely close to me, I will either:
                    1. Try to get closer to them to use my automatic weapon (or shotgun unlock.. which I don't have)
                    OR
                    2. Launch a rocket at their feet... or if they're standing still, guide it into their body!

It's very effective, and if you can find supply crates or Support teammates nearby, you can restock on rockets and go out hunting some more.

                    I love the AntiTank class!

Now, if only guns such as the MP5 didn't suck so much ass...

The problem with using the pistol at midrange is that it isn't as good if you're trying to take someone down without them knowing you're there (since it doesn't exactly give you 1-shot-1-kill). It can take someone down quick but against an assault at ranges where it is hard to make sure you get all headshots, why give the guy a chance to turn around and feed you a grenade or a couple bursts of AR fire?

I haven't noticed too much "hunting" being done by ATs, mostly just people deciding between their SMG(or DAO), Pistol(which most folks don't have all *that* much practice with at range), or zoomable steerable exploding rocket when they see an infantry guy that needs to be addressed (sometimes you *can't* leave them to someone else), which is how it has always been. What I HAVE noticed though is that more people are playing AT more often on a lot of maps because of how vehicle-heavy they are (or because of how big a pain the vehicles on the maps are, like karkaand) and this leads to a lot more people deciding they'd rather burn a rocket on someone than hope someone else gets 'em before you die.

Though, I *am* guilty of switching to AT at times after a sniper gets me and blowing them out of their roost rather than trying to snipe them back, largely because after I kill my one mark I'm not very useful if all I've got is a sniper rifle and there's a boatload of tanks/apcs/AA roaming around (kubra dam anyone?).

Wow, the level of idiocy of many people is just mind-numbing. This is about the 5th person at least to completely miss the point of the original post. Are people just responding to the title of the thread without reading the post?

Hey, "Five-nakeEy-three-s", I'm sorry that the 'E' key on your keyboard seems to be malfunctioning, but, if you'd care to grow a few brain-cells and then re-read the post, you might be surprised to discover that the entire point was that I, as well as most others I know, find it extremely easy to defeat AT guys that are using the RLs against inf. Thus, the question was asked: Why the sudden abundance with AT guys seemingly choosing the AT class specifically to hunt inf. when it appears to be so ineffective?

Allow me to try and run it down again for you in simple terms, so that you might be able to grasp it:

                          1) I have noticed a recent, and fairly significant, increase in the number of AT players engaging inf with their RLs.

                          2) If you are playing AT, and you happen to come across me playing as an inf.(support, medic, assult, what-have-you), or most other players I suspect, and you attempt to engage me with a rocket launcher, the odds are overwhelmingly good that you're going to lose.

So, by playing such a tactic, you're cheating yourself of points PLUS you are being a detriment to your team as you are wasting ammo that could be effectively used against vehicles. Also, you are dying a lot, so you are taking tickets away from your team.

So, with these points in mind, the questions are raised:

                          A) If you are playing AT to hunt inf., then what exactly is the attraction?

                          B) If you are playing AT to take out vehicles and you come across enemy inf that is outside effective range for your regular weapon, why engage him and waste the ammo etc., when you could find cover, avoid a battle that you'll likely lose, leave the enemy inf to your friendly inf. classes that are designed to engage such enemies and go an find an APC to blow up?

                          Simple isn't it?

I hate using AT, but with all the fricken tanks and apcs in the game sometimes I have to. And when Im lining up my shot, and someone jumps in front, which is like 50% of the time, I AT you. I get a lot of kills I dont mean to with it. Solution-dont give the MEC tanks and APCs.

But, why would you want to? That's not your job. You're playing with a whole team of people who are playing classes that are specifically designed to do that sort of thing. Your job is to take out vehicles. Your DAO and carbine are there for self defense when you get cornered. If you want to take out snipers and inf. at long range, go play as another class who is more effective at that sort of thing.

When I'm playing support, I don't run out to the enemy's UAV trailer and start lobbing grenades at it. That's not my job, that's for spec-ops. When I play engineer, I don't climb up to roof tops and try to drop my mines on the heads of infantry I see walking below.

I'll clarify again: I understand that as AT there are times when, through no fault of your own, you find yourself in a fight and don't have time to switch, or there's no way out and in a certain circumstance, your RL is more effective than your regular weap. I understand that, and I'm not raising issue with that. What I'm raising issue with is AT players seemingly hunting down inf with their RL. And, I'm seeing this all the time now.

I'll give an example. Last night I was playing on Karkand and I was making my way down the road where the fruit stand is. As I'm walking, there's an explosion on the road right in front of me. It did a little damage but nothing major. I look around, and way up behind the concrete wall, probably close to 70 meters or so away, there's this AT guy who saw me walking down the street and decided to get a shot off. I would have never noticed him had he not shot at me. Now, I was playing medic with my L85 at the time, I went prone, zoomed and put a bullet almost directly in his head. He dropped behind the wall and a moment later came back up and tried to get off another shot at me from his RL. I hit him again and he was dead.

I'm seeing this sort of behavior more and more from AT, and I just don't get it. If that were me, I just would have let the enemy inf on the road scoot on by without ever seeing me. I would have spotted him for my team and moved on looking for a tank or APC and let some other team member deal with the inf guy down on the road.

Also on Karkand, you know the concrete wall in front of the last MEC base where their UAV and arty is? You get a lot of snipers sitting at that wall trying to snipe USMC coming over the bridge. Well, more and more I'm seeing AT guys up there. And, that's fine, it's a good place to nail vehicles trying to make it over the bridge, but countless times lately, I've been advancing over that bridge on foot with my squad, there's not a vehicle in sight, and the AT guys up there start firing their rockets down on us. 9 times out of 10 they either don't kill any of us or maybe they get one... but now we know the base is being defended and we end up picking off every AT and sniper that's up there using that wall for cover. It just seems pointless to compromise your team like that to get perhaps one kill.
