Cheap 6600 or expensive 6800?

Its a plain Gigabyte 6800 GT 256 AGP.... Not an ultra. My gf's Albarton 6600GT is vanilla as well.

Vanilla means no GT, no Ultra card, like the 6800 that has 12 pipelines instead of the 16 that Gt and ultra have, and lower clock speeds, not something like BFG OCed cards. So you have two GT cards, not two vanilla ones.

I fuond a reallly good deal on a normal 6800 256mb... is it worth it? Should I try to find a gt.

Nope, the 6800 has 12 pipelines, go on newegg and look it up, although 6800LE (lame edition) only has 8.But the 6800 does slightly better (lke 2-4 fps) on BF2, but 6600GT is 40 bucks cheaper, i would get an X800 128mb AGP, it's as good as the 6800 (except in Doom 3), and it's only 155 bucks on newegg.com

No no no! Get a 6800 LE (agp only otherwise this won't work) and unlock the piplines and vertex shaders using rivatuner. It everything is perfect (which might not happen) you will have a 6800 LE with 16 Pixel piplines and 6 vertex shaders (as opposed to 8 and 4). Peeps can top 10000 on 3dmark03 with that config + its much cheaper than 6600 or anthing else u hav recommended. Only limitation is 128mb memory

Should I spend half as much money on 6600 or spend more on a 6800? Are the Graphics pretty close.... or big difference?

I don't know what system you are using but hopefully this will help you out.
I have a P4 3.2HT on a Abit IC7-Max III mobo with a 875p, 1 gig of corsair XMS high speed low latency, & dual western 74g 10k rpm raptors in raid 0, all viewed through a 19IN Sony LCD. When I built the system I ran out of money so I used a EVGA 6600gt AGP for vid. The card did everything I wanted, or so i thought. It played BFV on high, Far Cry, movies, etc. When BF2 came out I could only play it on medium otherwise I ended up with chop or graphic corruption. I even overclocked the card up to 495 and 990mhz and still it didn't improve much. So I put that card in my old system and bought a 6800gt on new egg. Now I play on high settings with no prob. & movies come in with a little more clarity. Will a 6600gt do all you want to do? Probably. But the extra pipe lines and increased on board ram do make a big difference in performance when put on the same system. From all the research I did, if you do by a 6800, make sure it is a GT not a regular 6800. XFX, Gigabyte, and Evga have some affordable cards. Some of them even come overclocked from the factory. sorry I missed the post where you said you had already ordered a 6600, thefore this has just been useful reading for you. Not a bad choice though, I am sure it will do better than your previous card.
