If they take the vehicle fairly, and dont TK u for it, and manage to keep the vehicle reparied all map, they have the right to be in it all map, after all, its part of the game!
I do this at Karkand, I grab an APC and every time im damaged i drive south of the suburb in that houses, hide and repair...I keep this sequence throughout the map..I do like being on foot on Karkand, good CQB.
I do have a problem with SERVERS THAT KICK YOU IF YOU GET IN A VEHICLE
I dont mind vehicle whores but I love the ones who get whipped when the round changes to a map with less vehicles, they dont seem to knwo hwo to aim very well with a gun.
Usually peeps that can't aim a gun well, can't aim a cannon well either
But it isn't aiming alone, it is periphial vision, situational awareness, & information management
But the skill most likely to help you survive in a tank is manuevering IMHO, I can't begin to tell you how many missiles I dodged to become ranked 2320 in the world in armour in BF2, & how many times I have hard reversed hard & killed special op's tryin' to throw C4 on me, or how many times I have had to "wheel" in tight city streets cutting down enemy infantry, running over them w/ my tracks if necessary, & sniping w/ my cannon to gain my "status"
Hell, I have downed dozens of choppers, & a couple of jets w/ the main gun
Commanders use me to their advantage, supplying me (first priority) when needed, supporting me w/ artillary when requested because I sway the tide of the entire battle
My personal biggest "pet peeve" is "bunny hopping" MF's
btw 2320 in over a million ppl playin' the game online is better than 1-in-400
Tactics
Manuevering
Markmanship
Coordination w/ the infantry, & Commander\
Helps you become a MASTER of the Battlefield
The Tank is the dominant force in city maps after arty, & the Apache when properly implemented
ps. JackLavender has good advice, I am married, & my wife thinks that my gamin' 24/7 is better than when I used to "run the street"
I hate whores, I don't mind if you take a few rounds but when you're using it everytime for death upon death it is time to give it up. If you shoot me to get into a vechile, watch your arse cause im gonna come looking for you before the enemy.
I only have a problem when its someone who is obviously not helping the team by being in that vehicle. If one player keeps taking a jet and gets killed ten seconds later; does this the entire round, then yes it bugs me. I do use the jets a lot in this game, but I do it to help the team. If I can take off at the beginning of the round and survive the entire time, while getting 60+ points, its worth it. I do what helps the team most.
whats the actual defenition of a vehicle whore?... I always thought it were the ones waiting for let's say a chopper wich is still in use.. those people do bother me...
i'm a chopper fan myself and when i see it isnt available i go do something else... but when its available i will go for it (without shooting the others that are also trying to go for it)
sorta random? i guess one of the most evil* men in the 20th century is 'random' these days.
*before you go and decide to go smarty pants on me and say 'well stalin was a key part of winning the war: he kept the pressure on the eastern front (after hitler a few poor choices, stalin was practically given the victory), stalin was a sick son of a *****, that sided with the allies only because hitler played him like a deck of cards.
if you don't believe me, google 'stalin liquidation' or 'gestapo'
And America, left Europe to be under the jackboot for 3 years whilst it was busy making stacks of money by trading arms and supplies with both the allies and the nazi's!
In fact a big part of the reluctance for the U.S. to join the war, was that many American politicians were nazi sympathisers at the time.
I do agree that Stalin was a scumbag, he killed far more people than Hitler..
But I don't really see any harm in using his name in a game, its just a game.
They often don't bother helping the team, in karkand they often drive to near the wrecked APC is, and stay there for most of the game. It's so easy to punch through and take flags, 3 or 4 guys in an APC working as a squad, capturing flags can make or break the game.
They drive like maniac's straight for the largest congregation of infantry, drive over everyone and then start screaming that they ran in front of them when they get punished.
Tank noobs, a bit of advice.....
You are in the vehicle, so you take responsibity when you are around your team mates not to run them over, people in mid battle aren't all going to line up, look both ways and then cross the street at the pedestrian crossiing in a nice orderly fashion just because some pimply idiot in a tank wants to crank up his score.
I've had this dozens of times now, where I'm in a nice open area, running in a straight line, and suddenly from behind, vrooom! squashed flat by some p*ick in a tank looking the other way...I'm just about to press forgive even though I'm a little ****ed off, when I get called an ar*ehole by the guy....so I think sod it....Punish!
They also start screaming while their driving around to get off the road!...Have any of you guys seen any sidewalk pavements on these maps, I haven't...so they seem to think they also own the roads..
Also because they often get pretty good scores due to using a tank or APC constantly, they seem to have this twisted view that they are better than everyone.
I prefer being infantry, I generally never bother with going for vehicles at the start of the game because then you have to deal with the childish tantrums of these people cause they can't get their favourite toy.
Anyway, it all comes down to teamplay... or a complete lack of respect for other people.
