Parachute not opening

Chute doesnt open sometimes. A lot of times, at least 2 dozen deaths becaue of this. I press my (F) key many times but chute wont open. Could be lag, but I dont lag on any of the servers i play on...

Press 9 9 times in a row and its bound to open unless to hit the ground before you hit it at least 3 times

yeah i die alot due to my parachute not opening. when im rapidly hammering the 9 key my face looks like im trying to pass a bowling ball through my ass. but it still doesnt work

Nothing in this game works faster by pressing the button more, it only makes it stutter.

the only place where it happens to me is Strike at Karkand, on top of a building by the first flag...the one that has liek a little room inside, next to the second flag, and then some stairs and the roof...sometimes whne I would jump of the top of a building my parachute wouldnt open

Funny parachute story, I was playing Mashuur City last night and jumped off the roof of the building at the main USMC spawn right next to the radar dish (not the UAV trailer).
My chute opened, then I was spotted just as I ended up stuck in a tree….needless to say he helped me out of the tree, only it was my convulsing body that was now laying on the ground..
It was a quick 2 seconds of panic, I didn’t see the tree or the guy that was going to help me out of it :hmm: :cry:

if you slide down a building it doesnt open either. bf2 thinks that if you touch a slanted building/hill 100 feet above the bottom, you're on the ground and the chute can disappear because youre 'safe'. bs..lol

well for all base jumpers out here.
You need to get clear of the building! Once your parachute hits something it wil fold and you'll turn into a nice big pizza on the concrete.

The other night I was playing on Kubra dam and put a AT rocket into a blackhawk. It started smoking and all of a sudden 4 guys jump out and all go splat. The helicopter was just at the right height so they would all die from the fall, but not have time to open the chute. Wish I could have recorded it. Good times, good times.

I am a 9 tapper. I had chute problems a lot more when I first started playing. I think having enough forward momentum to clear the building may be the difference now. All I know is that a lot of my suicides were from figuring out how to parachute well.

I was under the impression you had to press 9 at least twice. Although I'm a 9-masher too.

Well i'm a 1-masher, as i switched it with 9.

I find it a lot easier to smash when it's close to my movement buttons :)

the parachute only opens when youre in free fall mode.. as others have stated, this can be seen when your weapon disappears. you need only to press the 9 button once during free fall mode. I never have had problems opening my chute as long as i was free falling..
