Honestly, since when did snipers get close to there enemies ?
A snipr should never EVER be even close to a enemy,
If I wanted to get close to a enemy i would choose another class.
Just admit it, the sniper class need alot more tweaking because it sucks right now.

I have no problems with snipers either. They are great to knife or shock paddle.

The funny part is where you said they're fine at medium to short range.

        LOL.

If I'm killing things at medium to short range, I think I'll take the class that has armor, an assault rifle, and a grenade launcher, not the skinny gimp with the bolt action rifle.

I totally agree, there's little worse. I always warn my whole team as to my whereabouts and that there's a claymore covering my back. Somehow people still manage to get themselves killed on them. Ok, they miss the warning message but what about the glowing red skull icon that appears?? It can't be mistaken for a mine as who lays mines at the top of ladders!??

Snipers are fun to use. I find that when I move around a lot, helping out my team with defense/capping/spotting I end up with a good k/d ratio. Damn, I had a pretty good round last night. the m24 is fantastic for headshots and accuracy. 125/51/10 aint too shabby for a sniper?

I have no problem using the SVD or Chinese rifle and hitting targets with around 75% accuracy at the very edge of 100% view distance. I dont think the rifles are really that inaccurate although a small bump in power would be nice.

Snipers aren't useless: Once i played Kubra Dam being USA, took the Sniper, was hiding in front of the CP under the bridge and took out one MEC after the other. I think this is teh ideal range, every shot was a hit, nearly every hit a headshot = instadeath. I was even hitting running soldiers in the head, and usually in dont play sniper!

Evidently, it is easier for the enemy to avoid your claymores than it is for your own teammates.

That has been my claymore experience. :-)

Ye...i put a claymore DIRECTLY in front of a ladder on top of a building. I heard someone coming up the ladder but thought the mine would handle it. The other player somehow didnt set it off.

I have accidentally set my own mines off (and died) from 12 metres away FROM BEHIND...yet Ive seen people stand right on top of them and walk away... tut.

It's pretty fun but only in the right situations. All too often you only see people in tanks, apcs, aa, or moving attack helos and can't do anything about them.
(Snipe the moving helo pilot? Yeah right. Maybe a few percent chance of that)

But... snipers are where I get most of my knives :) so I have no complaints.

Sniper class is not for everyone .. which is nice ... I always hated snipers in almost every game I have played :)

With that said .. I play sniper more often than not. While I do not think I am the greatest out there, I do my job well. I have often been able to keep 3-4 guys pinned down for long enough to keep them out of any real fighting. I have provided cover fire for my team's tanks as well as warning them about that AT guy getting ready to shoot them from around the corner. Or that incoming APC. Honestly, as long as you dont have too many people on your team playing as a sniper, they are a very handy class to have around.

as far as close range .. Well using the m24 or m95 at close range is just asking to die. Since the pistol damage is so low, you are normally going to lose. Also, with the m95 I have shot many people in the head from under 20m and not done any damage (actually saw the dust cloud on their head like I was hitting the ground).

you guys are ****in stupid *******s....playing sniper is more enjoyable than any other class when theres no teamwork going on(80% of the time on a pub server at least)

you should be thankfull that EA balanced everything so this isnt like Joint OPs where theres snipers basecamping the whole round and ****ing you in the ass
and sorry for being all touchy......ive been playing the sniper class since i first got into games back with Quake1 teamfortress and its early in the morning and im drinkin my pot of coffee for the day

I have had that happen more times than I would like to remember. Clays seem to be more prone to going off if it is either you or someone on your side, the safest seems to be on the other side.

Mind you it was satisfying the other week when someone decided to go looking where I was and there was a satisfying explosion

If you have a squad of 6 people who all know eachother, and have "trained" a bit in teamwork and strategy, you can do killer. The sniper can hide in the trees and scope out bases for a squad, spotting whoever he can. Then the squad can run from cover to cover, staying hidden, eventually hiding inside the base. Then all at once they throw some smokes and pop out and kill everyone, and take the base, :). Alll because of the sniper lol.
I concur with this guy. Sniper is very useful and it's all I play, but finding a server, and I have been asking and seeking one out, that uses team work and VIOP it can be great. I was on one last night from 8pm to about mid-night and all I can say we we kicked butt. I was look out and helped picking people off who might be coming to help defend a flag. I didn't score a lot of kills, only about 7-8 a round but it didn't matter because we would win rounds. I did score a lot of kill assists. I would like to have the sniper accuracy improved and damage increased so I could get those kills, but I am more than happy wounding those guys and letting my infantry with machine guns mop up. I would call out anything I saw in range of the flag. We all commuicated a lot and I cannot begin to tell you how much fun it was playing last night. It was exactly why I got the game.

By the way, if you see me Prof.Chaos34, holler at me. I'd like to join a squad that played like we did last night. We are out there, just too few of us.
