The sniper rifle is pretty bad, the only way to kill then in less than 3-4 shots is getting them in the head and most players dont stand still long enough to shoot them in the head. The snipers bullets act like any other gun, they should make single bullet damage far higher. Even if they did this i doubt that many more people would go sniper, as it can be fairly boring sometimes.Comment

Snipers are far from being a useless class, they are a major pain in the ass when you cant find them and they're picking your people off one by one, and used as spotters and backup in a squad they work great in defence. Having a man apart who has a good view of the area and is hidden is not a disadvantage.Comment

The trouble is that people are used to snipers that are way over the top in games. Look at JO that and other nova games where nearly everyone takes a sniper profile and use these uber classes in ways that are totally overblown. Then when a game comes out where the sniper is not the uber class that people expect then it is branded as out of whack and rubbish.
I normally play sniper or support in any game like this and it really annoys me when one class is overblown in somany games and becomes so common as to exclude the others. The accuratcy and damage of the rifles are out of whack but at least it is not a sniper fest. Instead it is a Spec Ops fest :)Comment

Sniper useless? Hardly. The other day when I had all my weapons unlocked I grabbed the m95 because its the gun I was thinking about unlocking second. I took out some helis hovering over flags which is pretty funny. Also when I played daquin oilfield or however its spelt, I kept the usmc helis on the ground for 5 minutes because I kept sniping the pilots. That all seems pretty useful to me. As for the m95 or any other rifle sucking, they don't the sniper does. When I played the demo alot of times I thought I had a head shot when I simply didn't so it took another shot to kill. As for medium/short distances, I have no idea what the original poster is basing his distances on but my crappy video card can only let me see about 400 meters and its current settings and I can get a head shot from there. I think I found alittle quirk for sniping in bf2 but it'll take a few more maps before I'm sure.Comment

yesterday played Mashtuur city with sniper class..was having 5 kills per one death with m24...I don't really like SVD in this game since even if you do a headshot, it won't kill the enemy from the first shot...then he runs away and say bye bye to the target...m24 is teh real deal....
would be better if snipers would get 4 pts per one kill instead of 2...so unless you're not looking for huge pts, sniper class sux...even if you manage to kill 15 ppl in one round your scores would be a lot less than of some dude who've been flying in chopper getting assist kills.......and the nature of sniper is not to go cap flags but to hide and take out the targets.....Comment

i am a sniper tried and true and after finally getting my first ranked i decided to unlock the barret only to find is is barely any different to the other sniper rifles except from close range. i mean its 50.cal it shuld be able to take out jeeps in 2 shots at least i seen a movie of it being done, and dam that was coolComment

I am a sniper 100% of the time. I see two problems with snipers...
1) Everyone thinks snipers are crap as a result there are few good snipers.
2) Squad leaders think snipers are crap and have NO IDEA how to use them properly.
As a sniper i have no problems what so ever, both lone wolf and team based. As a result of no.2 we get labeled as non-team players...mainly by idiots though.
edit** i think maybe snipers should get more points for assists. I mean, engineers get fix points, medics get heal points ... ... especially since sniper spend alot of time out the way of medics and ammo...Comment
