I'm with you, Nishidake - well said. i do get kind of pissed, however, when i'm flying a chopper and a jet flies into me, especially if he didn't even try using missiles. Here's a question - has anyone tried sitting in the back of the MEC chopper as a spec ops and, with the MEC pilot flyin gover the BH, dropping c4 on the BH? then, fly a few hundred feet away and detonate the c4 - all the kills with none of the suicide/waste of MEC chopper/crying that ramming is cheap...

i'm going to try that tonight.

A good tactic I've found is to make your way to the US base, steal their blackhawk when it finally crashes (this bit takes some skill :P), fly far far away into some corner of the map and park it there so noone knows where it is.

I'm sure they blow up after a while, but I think its a long while.

A fun thing to do when you are bored, in the begining put 5 c4 on a jet and crash right into the carrier before any chopper take off, kills 2 chopper at once and then you can repeat this unless they sneak out, in which case you play normal from then on.

Hmm..never thought of that! Not a bad idea, but wouldnt the mines or c4 just be thrown clear by the spinning blades? Also, I understand that it you could take out a chopper with only 1 -2 missles might be too quick and take away the ability to use them well. However, I dont know any plane or heli that can take a direct hit from any missle and still fly away from it. Damage should be increased. Hell, a rocket powered grenade can take out a BH.

I'll tell ya, I play this game becuase it is more realistic. I dont play Quake or Doom becuase it isn't. If I wanted to jump 5 feet in the air with a full pack and weapons..again I'd play Quake.

That leads me to another issue. I noticed alot of ppl using the jump/ shoot/ prone, jump/ shoot/ prone thing alot now. It's to the point that it's annoying. Not only does it lag you but you can't get a good bead on them, and they know it. It's unrealistic and unfair IMO. try jumping with 60+ pounds of stuff on you.

Sure, it's part of the game, but it doesn't make it a good part of the game. If you want to do that stuff, please go play quake/ doom/ counterstrike and leave the realistic games to those who want it.

EA should consider taking the jump function out of the game. There's no reason to have it, and only brings frustration to the game play.

Sure, this is an arcade-ish style game, but it's based in realism. Hence all the realistic guns, maps, and game play. So saying that's an excuse for the jumping stuff is just lame IMO.

Personally, I like being able to jump over fences and other stuff to cut down on the time it takes to get somewhere. But I do agree that bunny hopping seems pretty lame. However I have to admit that I sometimes do it as well. I think it comes from my days of playing Q3. I never really played CS. I don't really mean to bunny hop, it's more like an instinct. I do feel really pathetic when I hop and get a kill. However, the only time I find myself hopping is when I'm surprised by an enemy...like I said it's like an instinct.

I'll be running around a corner, meet face to face with an enemy, and just start jumping. I always feel like a jackass afterwards, especially if I die. But I'm trying to get better about it, because I too think it detracts of the gameplay somewhat.

However, all other tactics I've seen or encountered I think are fine. Ramming, etc. I just think its funny and get a good laugh out of it. But I always feel stupid for bunny hopping. But if they take out jumping I think it'd be more frustrating not being able to jump over objects. For instance, last time I was playing I came across a tank face to face. There was a drop off to my left with a guardrail. If I couldnt jump I would have died by the tank. But I since I was able to jump over the rail and hide I as able to survive.

Bottomline, there has to be a better solution to bunny hopping besides removing jumping altogether.

hmm..I see your point. There's got to be some kind of compromise in this. May be if there was a "hurtle" type of jump then it might work out. A slower climb over the object instead of a large jump would work out? You could still move over objects like walls and fences, but more realisticly. If there's no object to "hurtle' over, then nothing happens when you hit that mapped button? It would keep the 'bunny hoppers" ( I like that term!) at bay.

Dont get me wrong, I like the arcade style games, but the realistic arcade style, if that makes any sense. I dont play flight sims becuase it's too realistic and I dont like having to d oall that work. It takes way from the fun of playing IMO. Still, you have ot admit, the jumping stuff is kind of wrong.

Well I'm not programmer, but that sounds like a good idea. The player would have to be very close to climbable object to traverse it. When doing so the player could go into an animation that takes a hand off the weapon to help them get over the object. That way you can't fire while doing so, thus those purposfully bunny hop couldnt exploit it by hopping back and forth over an climbable object.

It does make sense that someone wouldnt be jumping with that equipment. If a soldier had to climb a fence or get over some other object they would probaly have to use a hand or two assist themselves into doing so. So I like your idea. Have a "climb" action that is only usable when you are near and facing the object you need to get over.

                    Gotta run, happy posting!

EDIT: sry for bad spelling, I'm in a rush

I love crashing into BlackHawks  another thing that's fun and cheap is setting mines infront of enemy jets this way they cant get off the airfield  do this as commander and camp with supplies i spent a good 15mins doing this without being killed or do the same with C4

'Ramming noobs'? Lol I love the rules people make up and assume that everyone else wants to follow. If its in teh game and not a cheat, its a valid tactic.

Sorta like how player A in a fps thinks weapon X is cheap and player B thinks weapon Y is cheap... so what? =p

Similar thing happened to me as I was using the big MEC SU-34. We were on Kubra Dam and the incident ironically happened right by it. There was a full BH flying toward the middle dam CP, I spotted it and since I was getting bored with bombing, decided to ram it. Well, I hit the lower portion of the helo and somehow my jet bounced off of it and crashed into the Dam (with me still inside ). Anyways, the momentum made the guy flying the helo loose control and the whole BH also crashed into the Dam. I look up at the text and see 5 TK, LOL. I was like, "Somebody is getting banned...". Couple seconds later the guy got banned and I laughed my ass off...

i have to admit, I do use the specops c4 to blow up air and land units. I'll run over and drop the kit then wait ot explode them. Still, that's what a real spec ops guy does. Sabotage. The enemy still has a chance to see them, and avoid. Or even shoot me in the process. Atleast it makes it fair for them. Not that it has to be, I just liek making the game fair. Why win with exploits and cheats. It's a hollow victory that I get no statistaction from. Ofcourse, nothing we've talked about here is really a cheat. Just bad game play that EA either didnt see, or doesnt care to address. Either way, it's only a game and I enjoy playing it. I guess I'm just venting some frustrations.

All the crazy things that happen in BF games are what make them worth playing over all the other online shooter. I want to see choppers colliding in mid-air. I love BH whore teams because I'm defending with a few other AT guys, it's so sweet when it's my rocket that drops the bird and I get to see my name repeated 5 to 6 times over as the killer. My only issue is that a fully loaded BH caps flags in mere seconds. You should have to be on foot in order to help increase the rate at which flags are capped.

I think ramming other choppers is fine. It's what BF is all about. I LAUGH when I play BF2. I didn't laugh when I played AA or any other game. That's what makes BF so enjoyable. It's not about realism. It's about insanity and killing anyway you can.

I always get Dalian and Daqing confused, but when I'm playing the map that's showcased in the intro movie, I ALWAYS drive my vehicle up that ramp as fast as possible. I know that anyone on the opposite who suddenly see's this vehicle coming through the air into the base probably has a smile on their face. I know I do. It's not the wisest action, as I can't really see much until I land, but it's too fun. That's what BF2 is about...FUN! It's fun to watch choppers collide, period.

If you're a dedicated pilot, well then you just need to deal with the fact that being a pilot has both rewards and consequences. One of those consequences? You're one of my main sources of entertainment. I encourage everyone to ram, ram, ram! Else, this game is just going to get stale.

                                Just my opinion, anyway.

                                Brilliant. Post.
