In a match, if that's what you need to do...

But in a pub, just not good. Sure, you get kills, but people just hate it. It's a cheap tactic.

Wrong, Guns on buggies take it down easy, also M249 takes a quite of bit damage also. Plus if your good with Anti-Tank you can take it out. Ive taken out alot with those. I think should be just left alone and let the noobs keep dying in the process until they figure it out on their own.

In the MEC's defence their attack chopper has pretty much an automatic grenade launcher rather than regular machine gun.

One guy with a-t can't take out a blackhawk whore team. You can't reload fast enough to keep up with their engineer repair monkeys. I put 3 rounds into a blackhawk, it never even smoked, they just laughed and flew away. Only time I take one of those out on foot is if a) they don't see me, and b) I put a grenade through the side door. If they see you on foot or in a light vehicle---and know wtf they're doing---you'll be dead long before you're a serious threat. What minimal damage you do will just be monkeywrenched away in a few seconds.

Hell, last night I was in the havoc vs. a full blackhawk team, they shot my gunner out of the copter(nice balance there, sigh). So then it is just me. I put a FULL STICK OF ROCKETS into the blackhawk. It was smoking...then about 3-5 seconds later it was fully repaired. I just said f*ck it, nosed over and rammed the bastard.

If I am in transport, or don't have a gunner, I'll ram a fully loaded blackhawk every time. It is a valid gambit.

Put me down for a vote against nerfing the hawk's guns. I love those things. However, I am in favour of beefing up the hawk's dedicated opposition. We should ask that they bump up the effectiveness of armour against the miniguns. Despite their ROF they should not seriously bother a Tunguska/M6 or even the LAV. I know this is "an arcade game" (yeesh) but no amount of engineers should be able to keep a transport in the air when it's facing a dedicated antiair AFV.

Also, make the hawk land to cap a flag, or else make it take ages (I mean so long you think it's not working).

Ramming is acceptable if you do it once or two in a game but I played with people who they ahd only one objective: ramming. After 3 kills like that you get really pissed ...

After getting moed down by miniguns 3 times in a row, you be pretty pissed too... Hell, the miniguns penetrate right through the cihinese and mec choppers...

this is EXACTLY what i do. its one thing to go and ram them and make it obvious, but when it says they were killed by c4 instead of just a suicidal helicopter, they start to question how the hell c4 got strapped to their bhawk and they start checking the helicopters for c4 for about 5 minutes before they fly off....

Also, make sure that if you do ramming tactics you DONT do it on a clan server.......where the clan happens to be the ones loading up the blackhawks over and over jsut to get pwnt by you and your suicidal rage.....ive gotten perty good at gettin banned from lots of servers that way. however, if you wanta take the blackhawk outta action for good this is how you do it. most the time they just hover over flags anyway = easy target to fly into.

Towel heads love suicide bombing, so it's only fitting to crash your mec chopper into the Americans. You have to do the battle cry too. alalalalalalallalalalalalala!

The first real arguement towards ramming... Personally, I don't do it, I prefer the more civil act of missles/gunners. A really good gunner can TV Missle a helo, I've seen it done b4. But I do understand the frustration..I've pounded it with missles with no real damage. I don't think it should be weakened, or the guns nerfed, but maybe make the mec/chinese attack helos missles a bit stronger...have probs killing even apc's with them at times...

The Blackhawk is seriously unbalancing the game and needs to be reassessed, no question about it. The actual question is how?

The guns? They are pretty valid, no one wants to be on the wrong end of a minigun as they're obviously hella nasty and have a murderous rate of fire. But their real.

The Helo armour? Choppers are designed to have their vital parts withstand small arms fire, some up to 50mm machine-guns at medium range, but NO chopper can take 2 or 3 dedicated anti-aircraft or anti-tank missiles and live. In the game however they would be useless otherwise, and need to be tough.

I think the best way to stop flag-hopping Blackhawk whores is to make the aerial vehicles unable to capture flags without first landing, and to make it impossible for engineers to work on them from the inside. If they land to cap the flag they then become vulnerable to hand-grenades and C4, as well as ground fire of all types. If they want to repair they have to turn around or find a safe place to land and let the engineers do their bit. At a stroke we have a balance that still allows the BH to be a useful vehicle and anti-personnel platform, but stops it from being a flying, self-repairing tank that captures flags in moments.

Almost nothing in BF2 is more rewarding than taking out infantry with the mini-gun...all that dirt flying up around the target...just satisfying. So I wouldn't want to see it toned down or removed.

All the crazy things that happen in BF games are what make them worth playing over all the other online shooter. I want to see choppers colliding in mid-air. I love BH whore teams because I'm defending with a few other AT guys, it's so sweet when it's my rocket that drops the bird and I get to see my name repeated 5 to 6 times over as the killer. My only issue is that a fully loaded BH caps flags in mere seconds. You should have to be on foot in order to help increase the rate at which flags are capped.

I think ramming other choppers is fine. It's what BF is all about. I LAUGH when I play BF2. I didn't laugh when I played AA or any other game. That's what makes BF so enjoyable. It's not about realism. It's about insanity and killing anyway you can.

I always get Dalian and Daqing confused, but when I'm playing the map that's showcased in the intro movie, I ALWAYS drive my vehicle up that ramp as fast as possible. I know that anyone on the opposite who suddenly see's this vehicle coming through the air into the base probably has a smile on their face. I know I do. It's not the wisest action, as I can't really see much until I land, but it's too fun. That's what BF2 is about...FUN! It's fun to watch choppers collide, period.

If you're a dedicated pilot, well then you just need to deal with the fact that being a pilot has both rewards and consequences. One of those consequences? You're one of my main sources of entertainment. I encourage everyone to ram, ram, ram! Else, this game is just going to get stale.

                              Just my opinion, anyway.

I was playing on Dalian yesterday and watched as our (MEC) attack chopper was trying to dance with a US attack chopper but a blackhawk flew through the patch of sky they were fighting in. So, predictably, our guy (who by now has lost his gunner thanks to the fact that not only the miniguns but also the gun on the Cobra go through choppers, it seems only the gunner is vulnerable though or at least I've only ever been/seen the gunner killed this way) just tips himself over into the blackhawk (Ourguy [MEC Chopper] 2 folks) and then the combined wreck falls *on* the US chopper (Ourguy [Blackhawk] 2 folks). Ouch!

My view is that while it is cheap and obnoxious and leads to mis-assigned TKs, ramming is often the most expedient way of dispatching an enemy BH. If you're in an attack chopper you can USUALLY take them down especially if your gunner lands his TV missile but if you don't have a gunner for whatever reason the rockets are only good against a Pilot+1 situation most times. So, its either you let 'em rampage around the flags or you put your nose down and run right into their passenger bay. If you're in a jet the BH teams are even more obnoxious, because you either are flying fast enough that you are relying on passes with your gun to kill it (which is promtly repaired) or you have to slow down to the point that you are a VERY easy kill for anything else, especially the BH's own gunners while you wait for his flares to go away. So, after a while, people are going to get frustrated with their 'biggest threat to a helicopter' not being a threat at all and just burn right into the thing, and I can fully understand having been on both sides of it.

The helicopters are incredibly survivable, and the blackhawk is the toughest of the bunch. Until they are actually somewhat vulnerable to the tools that are intended to take them out (like AA sites, mobile AA (if the gunners and pilot are alert and working together, that 4 seconds they need to kill a tunguska is easy to find, especially if they have an AT guy hanging out the side too) and fighter missiles) people will and should continue to ram them out of the sky when all else is failing them, because that's about the only dependable way to take them out (you can do it the 'right way' but it usually gets you killed first or soon after anyway so why not just get the job done now?).
