Outrageous, banned from BF2 HELP

I hate gamespy, however, going on any forums and spouting off a bunch of cr*p isn't the smartest thing to do...I mean, wtf did you expect to get from this other than a ban / tempban / etc..? If you didn't do it in the 1st place this thread wouldn't be 3 pages long.....think before you write next time :)

As far as the acct. server goes.... I didn't read the entire thread, but has he tried to create a new account? The ban on the forums is prolly done within the forum, and is by IP. However, the gameserver acct may be the actual acct that's banned. Otherwise, you could go online with that acct. using the 'retrieve' function from another place (LAN center, friends house, etc..)

I'd try making a new acct. (yes, you'll loose your 1337 stats) and see if you can login from home. If not, then yeah, ur IP banned from the acct. server and screwed unless you can get the release time for your ISP and renew your IP.

If they can legally ban you from the game due to forum conduct, there's no way you're getting your money back.

I would just calmly and politely contact EA regarding this issue. Don't make any assumptions, don't even mention the forum mess. Just a general "Hey, this happened, what's up?" sort of thing. You can go from there :)

omfg.... I hate EA now.. I think I rather go back to 42 becuase of things like this .. and i know this is random but WTF i want my name change without getting a new account !!!!!! *talks about other issues.

To get a new IP you could try an Ipconfig /release and then follow that with an Ipconfig /renew. If you are getting IP's via DHCP this often gets you a new IP. Just run Ipconfig with no switch's after that to display what the assigned IP address is now. This is of course all from a DOS prompt.

As to the banning its interesting no link has been posted to the post that got the ban. Maybe it was more out of order than is being made out. Having read those forums it would have to be pretty dodgy to get a ban.

No offense intended mate....but I don't think this would work. Most people I know are running in their own little DMZ. This would only release the lease on this IP on there own VLAN. However it would be worth a try. I know with my own ISP you can do a remote disonnect and then I'd try to reconnect via the DSL modem and hope they give you a new IP. Only problems though are thaat DHCP server policies don't usually give you random IP's in their subnet. Still worth a try though.

Just a few comments:

Removal of service for saying offensive things must be highly justified and will always be granted hearing in court.

Removal of service for *threatening* another person is justifiable and will be defended in all courts.

And before anybody starts to claim "Well if it's in the EULA then...": The EULA is not a be all end all document. I can't write a document that says "If the Red Sox win the world series you have to live in a 4'X4' cell in my house for the rest of my life." Some things just aren't legal, even if you do convince somebody to approve a document saying it is. I question the validity of banning somebody for saying something deemed 'offensive', because it is such an ambiguous term.

Also, EULA's or "Shrink Wrap Contracts" (because they are contained within the shrink wrap of a game) have been found to be non-enforceable before, (See Klocek v. Gateway Inc.) because you cannot review the contract until you have actually opened the product, and thus rendered it un-returnable.

However, the affiliation between EA and Gamespy is also highly questionable and I doubt they mean for it to extend this far (into the login screen). From my perspective, this is almost certainly a glitch in the Battlefield 2 system, and, when brought to the attention of EA, it will be dealt with and fixed properly. Unfortunately this is not Dice's responsibility since the game is not in their responsibility, but EA's right now, although they may be part of the solution (ie. new login code).

EA may be hard to get through to, but I suggest the multiple-roads option: call, e-mail, call again, write a letter-- to as many people as possible. Better to have 6 or 7 people returning your calls and e-mails then waiting on 1 person who's ignoring your problem. If you do that, I think you should be back up and gunning down all the LaM3Rz like myself on this board in no time.

You make a dumb move, and they ban you. However, their ban is not in anyway related to BF2. Infact you this cannot be done unless EA pulls the banned IP list from them, which I highly doubt. Now, if you were acting like a retard on a ranked server, and they found out about it, then yes, you can be banned from ALL ranked servers as they all share a master ban list (along with individual ban lists). You agreed not to act retarded when you clicked "Yes" on the install box.

No as for getting yourself unbanned. You need to contact Evil_Homer. He has the power to unban people. Explain the situation. If they have decided otherwise, he will inform you of it.
