If you have a, or pay for a static ip, then your screwed. If you have a dynamic ip with cable/dsl, reset your modem. If you don't get a new IP, leave your modem unplugged for 24 hours. In fact, usually it won't give you a new ip within the 24 hour range - I'd say a week to be "safe."
Could you handle a week without your internet?Comment

I'd ask for a refund!!!!!!!!!!! I'm sure that their policy has nothing in there about actions on the gamespy forums! The forums and your game should be mutually exclusive.Comment

Good luck on that one, try reading the agreement you accepted when you signed up for an online account before spouting anything off.Originally posted by Dr-XSounds unusual....
I'd ask Dice for my money back. For curiousities sake, post a link to your forum post. I wanna see how bad it was.
I think it's a touch harsh that you didn't get a warning but you only really have yourself to blame.
1 down only a few thousand more tards to go.Comment

To get a new IP you could try an Ipconfig /release and then follow that with an Ipconfig /renew. If you are getting IP's via DHCP this often gets you a new IP. Just run Ipconfig with no switch's after that to display what the assigned IP address is now. This is of course all from a DOS prompt.
As to the banning its interesting no link has been posted to the post that got the ban. Maybe it was more out of order than is being made out. Having read those forums it would have to be pretty dodgy to get a ban.Comment

First of all you'd need to check what EA's BF2 terms of license state, particularly about online accounts and any connection to the PlanetBF forums. I doubt very much that you can legally be banned from playing the game for violating the PB BF TOS. Next make sure your IP is banned, and not your online account. As said before, if you do not have a static IP, just logging on a day or so later might give you a different IP (can even happen after 5 minutes during high inet traffic times). If the account was banned you are having a problem, as the BF2 account in fact is a Gamespy account and Gamespy may be entitled to close that account for violation of their TOS regardless of what else is tied to it. In that case you will lose your rank but can create another Gamespy account and use that one to play. If Gamespy did indeed ban you from playing BF2 and probably even banned your CD key (which they could easily be able to track back to your online account) you're a) severely and b) imho illegally screwed, unless the BF2 license states they may do so. If they mustn't, I'd complain to EA and demand a new game CD/DVD or immediate permission to access your game account again. Btw, I believe that Gamespy could ban your account from their forums w/o inhibiting you to play BF2.
Oh yeah, seeing what bulls quite a few here posted makes me think that the PB BF2 forum is a very nice place indeed. A badly moderated forum quickly degenerates into a sink for idiocy, apparently.Comment

Sad commentary on the Internet, when you think about it.
