They did it because, like many of us, they were annoyed with all the problems with this game and this just added fuel to the fire.

Get real. There are no reliable, published ways of getting in contact with a competent person at EA. It sounds like he did what you guys publish and was ignored. So he demonstrated that the bug he submitted is real. Would you rather he had released proof-of-concept code to the entire world? Or maybe kept it quiet and let people silently screw up everything in the background over a period of weeks, making a complete mess of the ranking system. You should be happy that the fix is so easy due to his grandstanding rather than flaming the guy.

But, hey, based on the level of QA that has been shown with this game, the lack of communication with the public, and the half-truths and outright lies that have been told, I'm not surprised that you are passing the blame. It is, afterall, the community's fault that EA doesn't have a way of contacting people with the ability to affect change.
Ha, I couldnt agree with you more, it started with some falacies in teh beggining with their advertizements... they didnt deliver with what they promised as we all know the missing vehicles, the missing clan systems... this has been problematic since the very first release, let alone patch, and they had to delay the game about 2-3 times in order to perfect it... i can not find a single place in this game other then sound where they possibly perfected anything, content was a joke, netcode lol, i remember when it was first advertized they said 100 player servers, that alter chagned to 64 player servers that resize depending on how manyplayers on teh server, thats bs, you have to load a whole new map... many things are not what they were promised to be and the ranking system as no reason to be also, how much can you possibly expect... Ill still play this game because its not terrible, just nto what they promised. But I assure you its the last game from this series I purchase.

Server owners throw down an obscene amount of money for this super-duper ranking system only to have a complete mockery made out of it over night by a small group of people.

I/We can only assume that the group that did this attempted to contact the BF2 team at EA about this problem and not just some random ea.com email address. They were ignored. They made their bug public. Now it gets fixed in a matter of hours. Seems like this method of "contacting" EA worked, huh?

I don't care i just think the means are childish, when they weren't given sufficient notice, they commit a crime.

The biggest point here, Sr7, is that we should not have to jump through hoops to get a MAJOR problem recognized.

We should not be forced to post 'grandstanding' threads to get their attention.

We should not have to make numerous phonecalls and deal with numerous clueless EA reps to get a MAJOR problem addressed.

Why the hell are there some people bashing the OP Zero2zero about his or her methods or even the language the poster used. I believe one member stated that Zero2zero's finaly statement was lame and made him look like an idiot.

Well you guys who are bashing are the idiots. He may have done something wrong and hacking and grandstanding may be unorthodox but it seems to me that he tryied to contact EA and made a move after that. i dont buy the " you just didn't get in touch with the right people" crap. There is a good chance EA overlooked his email as well as millions of other complaints.

But for those who think that unlocking the weapons was bad, do you think zero2zero was the only person who knew about it. Im sure there are others who have already been exploiting this without anyone knowledge. You may recall there was a player who had like 2 gajillion point in one day.

You might not like what he did but on the other hand, the issue is out there, EA is definately going to be taking this a little more seriously to rectify it and this may prevent abuse by others who may being taking advantage right now.

Kudos to zero2zero. You may have gone to an extreme but you made your point and definately as we can see from the reply from EA, something is being done about it.

                Thank you

This has to be one of the best and benign hacks ever. This is a perfect ****ing hack! They behave like nice white hat hackers and email EA. EA doesn't respond so they get pissed off and do something benign to show that there really is a vulnerability.

The players don't get screwed over, the hackers get creds and EA get's bad publicity. It doesn't get any better than this.

Very very nice zero2zero kudos to you.

All of the changes made will be rolled back in the next couple hours. Users may have to rechoose any unlocks they would have legitimately made in the last day or so as a result of the roll-back, but no stats should be lost.

I'd just like to get rid of it. I'd rather earn my unlocks, and I'd rather not participate if this is truly an unsanctioned hax0ring.

We aren't forced to. The biggest point is that you can imagine how many ****ing emails EA gets about this game? OOOO I DONT LIKE THIS WEAPON REMOVE IT OOOO I DONT LIKE RANKED SERVERS OOOO I WANNA BE ABLE TO HOST A PRIVATE RANKD SERVER OOOOO I WANT THIS OOO I WANT THAT. Of course its likely that an email would be missed which is why its TOTALLY unpractical to assume they ignored your messages. Its just an excuse to get personal attention.

Until you guys have seen the emails he claims to have sent, and the addresses he sent them to, then you are just assuming he tried to get into contact with EA pretty avidly. Not safe to assume.

Either way, it doesn't justify that we've spent $50 to play a beta riddled with problems.

He felt he needed to start an eyeopening thread here to get EA's attention and guess what, it worked.

erm we are paying customers, we deserve all the support we need with the game this is less than we should expect EA, fair enough they have put effort into fixing a few bugs that have been discovered. for me personally im laughing at EA they deserve this after the torture of waiting and taunting us for the demo and not giving out a release date (i dont support the hax0rz at all btw kaithxbai
