I think someone has hacked them to make them see how long it takes for people to unlock stuff.

Well personnally i dont like the idea of a couple guys hacking and unlock weapon for everyone,pretty cool to have all guns,but if they can do that,dont be surprise if someday they f*** everything up,delete your account etc...ive seen that **** before in America Army,that why i stopped playing the game...

Based on his statement, it looks like he believes he and others sent emails to EA to no avail. Hence the reason for his 'grandstanding' post.

Thanks for the info, but we paid for this game and I don't appreciate your condecending tone towards your customers here, especially when it's EA/DICE's problem.

In the future, if you really are concerned about "exposing security holes" to EA (which I sincerely doubt) rather than grandstanding, please e-mail me personally since it appears that you don't have the correct contact info. I will PM you the address.

All of the changes made will be rolled back in the next couple hours. Users may have to rechoose any unlocks they would have legitimately made in the last day or so as a result of the roll-back, but no stats should be lost.

Also, its not his fault that your code was defective and allowed people to obtain these unlocked weapons, apparently through no fault of their own.

Where do you suggest that people submit these bug reports to? The bfhq address that you guys claim to read but not respond to? The tech support section on ea.com that is manned by trained monkies? Oh, I know, the BF2 message board that EA has -- oh, wait, nevermind, you guys took that link down right when the game was released.

Get real. There are no reliable, published ways of getting in contact with a competent person at EA. It sounds like he did what you guys publish and was ignored. So he demonstrated that the bug he submitted is real. Would you rather he had released proof-of-concept code to the entire world? Or maybe kept it quiet and let people silently screw up everything in the background over a period of weeks, making a complete mess of the ranking system. You should be happy that the fix is so easy due to his grandstanding rather than flaming the guy.

But, hey, based on the level of QA that has been shown with this game, the lack of communication with the public, and the half-truths and outright lies that have been told, I'm not surprised that you are passing the blame. It is, afterall, the community's fault that EA doesn't have a way of contacting people with the ability to affect change.

Well, what a wonderful few days it has been. Since EA didn't take the time to respond (or maybe even read) our emails about various stats-server security holes, it clearly showed us how much they care. Therefore, we came to the conclusion that modifying 5 million accounts wouldn't be that big of a deal.

That being said, accounts with ids from 40,000,000 to 45,000,000 now have all of their weapons unlocked.

What will be next week? Perhaps we'll give everyone their Distinguished Service Medal, or maybe we'll elevate everyone to the rank of Sergeant Major.
