I'm not a fan of snipers, and think they are not only a waste of a team mate but a coward. I understand they are suppose to be this one shot one kill gunsman, and in real life they are great tools for warfare but in a internetgame its just gay.

You have a stand off between the two teams, and some guy in a tower who only comes down for ammo, shoots everyone on the ground on the head. It's takes no skill to be a sniper other than learning to use the mouse a little more. It just really takes all the fun out of the game to be shot by somone hiding and doing nothing more.

I dont even mind campers at all. You have a AK and your in a bush or popping around corners and killing, thats cool; atleast your in the field, and your open to shots too. The only way snipers ever killed is if artillery lands on top fo a buiilding or they are spotted everynow and then and then sniped out themselves to make them feal stupid.

As far as them scouting, lowering tickets or clearing the way for advancing troops. BWHAAA! The ticket loss MOST snipers drop are far lower than other kits. Unless they are spawn camping its rare for them to get many kills because people are usually running, which makes it impossible to be killed unless its coming toward the sniper.

I picked up my sniper basic combat with a pistol and gernades just to get the award. It's just so annoying to be killed by the same guy everytime to spawn and just get into battle. I even tell my own team mate snipers they need to pick up a diffrent kit. I'm not biased on that.

ummm instead of mocking each other lets get back on topic. What I want some people to do is think about what it would be like without snipers. Honestly, I think it would be really bad, there would be so many random Spec Ops sneaking behind artillery pieces and wrecking havoc all the time. Also what about tactics used by everyone else. I think there would be a lot more of a run-n-gun tactics going on, and no one would really use building for cover or think about the moves they are gonna make. I think it just adds to the tactical level of the game and really helps develope teamwork (depending on which side the sniper is on). Commanders now have eyes and ears out there and regular infantry squads now have an edge over an enemy squad without sniper support (which can possibly determine the winner)

Who cares what kit someone else uses? The way I see it, no one's forcing you to stay in that server. And if you're getting owned that bad by a sniper, try some counter sniping. It's not that hard...

i like snipers on my team, well i usually only have one, my friend, hes real good at sniping with his M95. we like to camp the carriers and pop people in the cockpits of planes and helis lol.

SNIPERS ARE THE ULTIMATE TEAM PLAYER!!! HOW DO U PEOPLE NOT SEE THIS. a sniper as the commander or squad leader is the best. In a good spot he sees most of the battlefield. I am a sniper (with the medic gun) and my team loves me. I arty a base before they cap it, and while the caping it i eliminate or point out any enmies to them. You can spot all the armor and you can keep your team mates from being ambushed! I think in bf2 a propperly used sniper is the greatest asset a team can have!

I could see where they would be usefull in a clan/private game no dout about it and agree with you 100%. When trying to get my sniper award by using the rifle, I saved a few team mates/defended the flag a few times because I was in clear view of the flag and took them out while they were prone.

But in a public match, its a bunch of people wanting the cool factor or just wanting to not die alot, tons of snipers just opening fire on people at spawning grounds is what is makes me HATE snipers, not just the enemy but my own team mates!

1 to 2 snipers would be great in a eal battle between clans with real objectives...in a public match they just piss everyone off

I agree with you to a point. But in your earlier posts, you pretty much said snipers were useless. Even in pubs, they are far from useless in the right hands. Yes, pubs tend to suck in the way of teamwork, I will agree wholeheartedly to that, especially after the past couple days of playing. My last two days, for some reason I end up on the team where everyone seems to just charge into the enemy and die, not using any team tactics at all, and half the damn commanders don't do their friggin job. But back on topic...
Snipers in general will not be the "best" team asset, as far as pubs. Why? 80-90% of them have no skill at sniping, or at "spotting". They run to the enemy spawn and camp, just as you describe. This is not a downfall of the class though. It is a downfall of the idiots playing the class.

I love it when snipers try to spawn camp, personally. It gets under my skin, gets me into kill mode, and makes me want to wipe their blood off my knife. The best part is its usually only 1-2 people at most doing this... which is easy to defeat with good tactics. I was playing a few nights ago and we had 3-4 snipers trying to camp our chopper spawn from a hill. I snuck around to their side and killed all of them. It's quite a good feeling to do such things.

Being a sniper myself, I tend to create my own squad and lock it. It allows me to talk to my commander, and let him know what I am seeing, without having the possiblity of some numb nuts spawning on me and giving me away.

Also if you see a sniper on your team, for the love of god don't look at him, hop around, and lay down next to him, cuz you just ****ed yourself and comprimised him.

I had a really fun game on *forget the name of the map, Dragon Valley maybe?*. Anyways. I snuck into the MEC base, and was sniping from an exhaust tower (no it wasn't the power plant one). I got 8 kills before someone decided to climb up the tower, well I had a claymore so I saw he had tried to come up the ladder. I went to look and see if there was anyone else, when I spotted on the ground the guy who just got killed by my claymore. I knelt down popped him in the head, layed another claymore down, but then paracuted off the tower. I proceeded to teh far end of the MEC runway, and layed in the grass down there for a while. I got 2-3 more kills, before he tried to climb again, and ate claymore for a 2nd time. I laughed to myself. Unfortunately for me, their commander was a total noob so he wasted a scan and artillary strike just to find and kill me.

even if your teams sniper cant actualy hit anyone... dont you think its usefull to have your own private radar somethere above you to tell you if there is someone around the corner/behind your cover? dont you think snipers are pretty usefull for taking out stationary guns/vehicle runners/camper/AT guys? Dont b**ch against snipers - be tankfull because I just saved ur ass 3 times without you even knowing.

Edit: most ppl dont realize that they just managed to take a flag against all odds simply because there was a sniper somewhere doing half of the job

Snipers make capping a base incredibly easy! Also they are the best thing on karkland. One sniper has the ability to point outh the whole enemy force and remove the nes that are givinghis team a hard time?

-The best expierence in bf2 is a snipr battle like enemy at the gates! You and a friend/clanmate be snipers on opposite teams. then instead of killing people just runn around the battlefield killing ther each other!
