Snipers on your team...

Sniping is as valid as any other gameplay tactic that people complain about. I'd rather have a good sniper on my team, then a useless assault guy that isnt very good and just charges into every fight. Anyone who says snipers are useless is clueless themselves, and has never seen a good sniper in action. The problem is that 90% of players who choose sniper aren't very good, so people get tired of them and their low scores. I myself am not the best of snipers, but I am proficient enough to get kills, even on moving targets. Will they capture flags? No. But they were never meant to. They were meant to have what is known as "overwatch" for their team. A skilled clan squad could definitely put a good sniper to use. Think about this.. you're about to rush out into the open and dive towards the flag, to start capturing it. Just before you start running, your sniper in the tower 500 meters away calls out armor approaching. If you're paying attention, he just saved your carcass. People in this game rarely seem to pay attention to the minimap and where the commander or others might call out spotted targets. Thus, people think snipers useless. I for one always appreciate them, if they are skilled.

It's a figure of speech man. They cant see everything, but they are usually in a position to see most, or more than anyone and have a line to a target.

I could see where they would be usefull in a clan/private game no dout about it and agree with you 100%. When trying to get my sniper award by using the rifle, I saved a few team mates/defended the flag a few times because I was in clear view of the flag and took them out while they were prone.

But in a public match, its a bunch of people wanting the cool factor or just wanting to not die alot, tons of snipers just opening fire on people at spawning grounds is what is makes me HATE snipers, not just the enemy but my own team mates!

1 to 2 snipers would be great in a eal battle between clans with real objectives...in a public match they just piss everyone off

It's not that I'm going to the same spot and getting killed....its that as soon as I spawn, I'm taken out almost instantly, or I leave the spawn ground jump a fence and prone to try to provide fire for the front line ahead of me. Me and team will be trying to hold back enemy, and you cant always just run around, alot of proning is used on large scale fire fights....and nobb snipers will pack into buildings and just shoot the opposing team while they are proned. And again not just the enemy, i hate tons of team mate snipers too.

And the funny thing is I would beat you at Total points every round we played probolly.

I can't help my squad? So the 50 guys I kill in 1 round isn't helping them? I also cap flags.

I'm not a fan of snipers, and think they are not only a waste of a team mate but a coward. I understand they are suppose to be this one shot one kill gunsman, and in real life they are great tools for warfare but in a internetgame its just gay.

You have a stand off between the two teams, and some guy in a tower who only comes down for ammo, shoots everyone on the ground on the head. It's takes no skill to be a sniper other than learning to use the mouse a little more. It just really takes all the fun out of the game to be shot by somone hiding and doing nothing more.

I dont even mind campers at all. You have a AK and your in a bush or popping around corners and killing, thats cool; atleast your in the field, and your open to shots too. The only way snipers ever killed is if artillery lands on top fo a buiilding or they are spotted everynow and then and then sniped out themselves to make them feal stupid.

As far as them scouting, lowering tickets or clearing the way for advancing troops. BWHAAA! The ticket loss MOST snipers drop are far lower than other kits. Unless they are spawn camping its rare for them to get many kills because people are usually running, which makes it impossible to be killed unless its coming toward the sniper.

I picked up my sniper basic combat with a pistol and gernades just to get the award. It's just so annoying to be killed by the same guy everytime to spawn and just get into battle. I even tell my own team mate snipers they need to pick up a diffrent kit. I'm not biased on that.

I like my sniper rifle. I like to think I use it well, defending our flag's by taking out the enemies which slaughter my team mates who dont have as good a visual as I do. I can get headshots from very far away now, they're pretty easy for me at this point... before i hated the rifle, but after a while you learn how to use it properly.

Taking out the gunman on top of a tank, I can' count how many times I've done that. Taken out drivers on the offensive or trying to capture a flag. I've even gone in a captured flags myself, since i knew the area would be safe and then call for backup once I'm in there.

If I had a microphone I'd like to start joing squad's and helping them out thay way, telling them where the enemy is etc.

Sure there are those people who just want to pwn some newbs with their leet sniper rifle... but I find it a lot better taking out that Anti-tank who is on their base roof, aiming at one of our tank's capturing a point. Or getting rid of 4/5 of those approaching squad's coming across the bridge or even going down underneath it. I can kill someone running sideways on me with 2 shots usually, now that i've got the timing right.

With the sniper class, it's hit or miss (pun intended). You either have the good sniper or the bad sniper. There is not often an inbetween.

Ok I'm not bragging here but I'm the #8 ranked sniper and Ranked #3 with the sniper rifle and you people saying us snipers don't do **** are morons. I usually always WIN the combat and sniper award and ontop of that I'm capping flags. I don't spawn camp, I assault most of the time. So me killing 50 enemies in 1 round is pointless?

I play as a sniper about 99% of the time. I don't get any huge number of kills, but I usually get a few usually the rifle, but other kills are made with a vehicle. I also make a concious effort to actually support the team by offering as much support as I can, but let's face it. The purpose of the sniper is to kill the enemy, just like the other packages, in addition to the individual specialties.

It is possible to kill witht he rifle, a running enemy. If the enemy is close, it is actually much more difficult to kill them and with distant shopts, it's not as easy to get a one shot kill as it may seem. With the m24 or m95, there is a long reload time, and it may be easier to kill with an auto or burst weapon because you can adjust the spray.

Personally, I thing having snipers adds another element of danger and suspense to the game. Of course it's not comparison to real-world combat, but a least the added challenge of dealing with snipers in the game adds another positive element tot the game.

What kind of blows is when you have a lot of snipers or you're on a team where everyone is a sniper. I think that's pretty lame.

I know some people complain about snipers because they are probably being killed by them, but I think they should just try to see the added "danger addition" to the game.

Snipers are a part of modern warfare, and BF2 is a modern warfare simulation. So............Let's keep them!


BTW, it's fun playing a sniper sometimes! The other day I was able to take down 2 choppers in a single round! SHot the pilot and watched the chopper spin and crash! That was pretty neat. My lucky shot!

I dont think that snipers should be able to be squad leaders becuase generally they are more lone wolf than anything and plus I hate it when im a sniper and I randomly become squad leader and then like 5 people spawn on me and get us killed.

Then dont join a squad. Lone wolf=squad less
