I think Dice is likely dissapointed regarding BF2 on some levels.

When bf2 was released I believe Dice had high expectations regarding the acceptance of bf2's squad functions and voip. I myself had great expectations, and I believed the masses would adopt them.

The hype was very high with regards to these features, forums were abuzz with way's people were gonna use the new assets. It was thought the features would be revolutionary in bf2, transforming the battlefield and the way the masses game.

Fast forward a month into bf2's release and I notice the features going unused for the most part in the majority of public servers.

A team that forms squads and spawns on their squad leaders is nigh on impossible to beat unless the opponent uses the same tactic. The commanders job is 100% easier if everyone is in squads, communication is a breeze if the chain of command is utilized as it was designed to be used.

9 squad leaders = 9 spawn points. This in itself is a huge advantage.

I myself am very dissappointed in the fact that people seldom join, and work in, squads. Because of this squad leaders are going unused as spawnpoints for the most part.

I am dissapointed that it is rare to find someone using voip in the majority of pubs.

Really, I am just dissapointed in the overall lack of cohesive teamwork in the average bf2 round.

I think Dice problably feels the same way on some levels.

    Anyone else a little dissappointed?

Before bf2 I played alot of joint ops. There was alot of spontaneous teamwork in that community. I just dont see much of it in bf2.

I coulda told you this before the game was released.

All the features seem like they would be really great, and they are if you are lucky enough to find a great squad.

BUT, the majority of people that play online games either:

    1. Play for their own personal gratification...be damned with anyone elses game experience.

    2. Dont really care if they win or lose.

    3. Are too preoccupied with their own stats to play as a team.

    4. Too cheap to buy a mic. The same people that havent gotten a damned DVD player for their PC are probably these same folks.

I'd say roughly half...probably more fall into the above categories.

Dice could have remedied this with clan support, but they dont even let you change your damn name, and with the stat situation and unlocks in its current form, most people dont wanna give up their stats and start over with a clan name.

Just create one account for clan-age and another for pubbing if your having clan probs.

Righty. See there arnt alot of guys like us, using forums to talk about this game, and/or a clan to game with, and/or comms to use. Most ppl that have this game are here just to have some simple fun and arnt into using their brains or taking full advantage of the game.
If you really want an experiance like that most of the time you need to join a clan that enjoys playing tactfully (if that is a word). Im sure almost all of us here on these forums play 99.99% f the game in a squad, as a squad leader, or a commander. But we are in the minority.

Ya noone I know uses Vo-Ip. I get into squads each time I go into a game and I check to see that everyone has it activated (in my squad) Everyone usually does but noone uses it....Whats the use

I don't have like a mic on my laptop so... If need be Id plug in one but noone uses it so...Forget it!

Maybe if some start to use it'll pick up. Once they see how nice it is (Which Im sure its great from reading and thinking...)

I think as more people get used to the game the more people will use the VOIP.. If you got people who use Ventrilo and Teamspeak in a MMORPG type game (Guild Wars) for PvP.. why don't they do it in a FPS?

I knew it was gonna happen, its to hard to organize random people.

I've only used the voip once or twice. it works, and itz a great feature, but i rarely need/want to use it. i just use the radio hotkeys. (wich i don't think a lot of people use as much as they should). I'm usually on skype anywayz talking to a friend playin in the same game.

I disagree, although on some games I dont use VOIP much, I always start a squad and if the guys dont comm, i give them the boot...Simple..I also have gone to some clan websites to see where they play and have had great luck finding servers that if you dont join a squad they kick you. Usually once players are in a squad they try to work together....I dont think the EA servers are setup right, they should have some servers where people have to join a squad or they get the boot...Anyway, I hate the bugs in the game but the addition of these features are really cool...I cant rememeber how many times I played BFV and would load a huey slick in hastings and all the guys I took to a flag would just jump out and not work together....Its gotten better with BF2 but still room for improvement.

At first i thought that the game was going to be shipped with a cheap headset so that everyone who played the game would be able to use VOIP, but obviousally that wasnt the case. One thing that really annoys me is that there are alot of perople who will join a squad, but who will refuse to take orders, and alot of others who just wont join.

I have no problem with people that dont have a headset using the radio keys to communicate, but that its self is rare.

some people are just in it to mess around. others are literally, no lie, stupid and run around like idiots not knowing what they're doing. a case of the idiots is 50% of this post's problems, lol

                          Hate to say it:

But what did you think was going to happen?

EA was strutting around saying their official servers were going to be very organized and basicly ripped on the "other" servers saying they'd be very leniant and people would be unorganized....

Basicly, you can't force people to do anything... it's all about ladder.

Well I just press the "K" for team chat and I think thats preety easy and another reason why people dont use VOIP: They can type fast.

Well another advantage of VOIP is that It would make the game much more fun! I mean more realistic and such... And people would be talking fast because they would be holding down the button and be defenseless and such so I would make the game more lifelike
