never cared about someone roof camping or camping a roof myself;a squad never really achieves much up there anyway;the best thing to do is place a beacon up there and get your squad to drop onto the enemy positions.Ive had some really entertaining firefights with opposing squad who have also camped a different roof and thats what the games about enjoying yourself;its not an exploit if DICE say it isnt they programmed the game not you so I guess they get the final say on this..

I think it's totally valid game play. Last night we had an entire enemy squad on the roof top south of Comm Tower in Berlin. They were quite easy to snipe and pk rocket over and over. In the end we just got ontop of the next building down using a well placed beacon and took them out from up close using hand guns much to their shock

The people that say they it's bad because you never look up there, well that's your bad for not looking up there. It definately adds to the realism. Usually someone on my squad will point out that we have snipers on the rooftops.

No one's pointed out the fact that usually the enemy squad will stay on the roof since they are more interested in their head shot count than actually taking flags/silos.

It is an exploit, just one that DICE are quite happy to use themselves. They've already admitted that it wasnt intended, thus an exploit.

It wasn't programmed by DICE, however they found out about it and said it was okay.

How can you call it an exploit when DICE has said it isnt? or are you some kinda sharholder in DICE lol

I don't believe DICE have said it isnt an exploit, because that would be daft.

I know it's an exploit because it's something that hasnt been programmed, and DICE have admitted it wasnt intended, it's an exploit by it's very definition.

I just think a lot of people like to do it, and dont like to admit that they're exploiting, which is essentially cheating.

I feel it adds a dimension of reality to the game. One of the first (and key) rules of combat is, and has always been, to secure the high ground. If there is way to get a sniper on building with good field of view from multiple angles you can bet your sweet a$$ that ANY military power on this planet will try their damnedest to get them up there.

#2 because no one ever looks there because of reason #1.

#1 The game has f--King pods with people in them falling from the f--king sky! Who needs a f--king ladder?

#2 those types of people are the reason hunters use deer stands. Deer are too stupid to look up for predators... ergo...

#3 The roof top covers a limited area, go the f--k around if you can't get them off of there! They can't cap flags from the roof top, and even if they can lock down one CP from their roof top perch, they can't protect them all.

Or am i not allowed to share my opinion now, even though that's what this forum is specifically asking for, i.e. My opinion on the topic of Roof Camping.

There are too many idiots like you running around these forums.

It would've been an exploit if DICE never said anything about it. But DICE found out about it and liked it, so even if it was an 'exploit', it's a legal one.

Because the buildings are generic, they get recycled in other maps. It's appropriate for them to have roofs in case they're on a map where the player has the ability to fly over them, pod near them etc. It would look a bit stupid if when they reached the top of the building there was a big hole in the top.

No, it is an exploit. It doesnt have to be unknown to be an exploit. It doesnt matter to me whether or not the exploit is a "legal" one or not, as it's still an exploit. So at the end of the day, you're cheating..."legally". Feel better now?

                            1. If you haven't noticed, there is no description of the SLSB telling players it is used to get into locations other players can't access without it.
"The SLSB (Squad Leader Spawn Beacon) allows players to quickly deploy at the beacon's current location via drop-pod. The training for proper use of the device is only available for Squad Leaders."
No f--king ladder means you shouldn't be up there. It should drop you to the spawn beacon location and not on top of a roof.

                            2. That's nice. What does that have to do with BF2142? We don't hunt deer. Point still stands that unless there is a ladder people should NOT have to pay attention to the roof tops. Now if there was a ladder and every player can easily access it your argument using deers might of had a point.

                            3. Roof topping can easily do any job you want it to do. Simply get up there as a Support. Resupply yourself with another beacon. Put it on top of the roof. There is your defense for the flag. If the enemy still captures it you re spawn on the beacon, drop down, and recapture it for your team again. Do not give us the bullsh!t ideas that it is also a handicap. Its not. Support players can spam grenades in the middle of the roof where PK rockets can't reach. Roof campers may also move to diffrent locations of the roof therefore you won't know where to shoot your precious PK rockets since the enemy is in a constant movement.

Artillery strike is the only sure way to get rid of those campers and yet it is also not fully capable of doing the job 100 percent. There are few weird roof structures that may give you some cover against it. Commander's assets can be destroyed. When the commander is using an artillery strike it may also kill the players trying to get rid of those campers.

I know this is your opinion on the rooftop "expoilt"... but can you asnwer me this...

                              1. If we are not allowed on the roofs why have air transporters/attack choppers in Bridge from Remagan, Minsk, Suez, Shuhia Taiba which enables easy access to any roofs

                              2. If we are not allowed on the roofs why can we pod onto any roof on a titan map that isnt accessible from the ground?

                              3. I dont know if this counts but why is there 2 spots on the Central Camp roof flag on Camp Gib that allows you to cap the flag.

I dont know if you joined in on the Northern Strike Beta but rules were very important there and had to adhere to, however roof camping was allowed in the beta testing.. seems very unprofessional for DICE to encourage exploiters to test their game..

It's more of a fact than an opinion. The evidence is all there...

Is the game programmed for it to be possible? No.

Have the developers admitted that players weren't supposed to be able to do it? Yes.

It's different when you're on a map that allows for it. Using vehicles (air transport, titan drop-pods) is fine. It's on maps that blatantly dont allow for it, and the only way to get up there is to exploit, where there is a problem.

I'm not sure what you mean, but if you mean why can you cap the flag from the roof, then it's because you're able to capture the flag as long as you're in proximity of the flag. Imagine a large spherical area around the flag, if you're anywhere inside it, you can capture the flag. Whether from an elevated position or not.

Like i said in reply to your first question, if you have the means to do it i.e. Transport ships/Titan, then it's legit. However, it's cheap.
