Roof Camping? Yes or No

So does hiding behind some cover and then popping out when the enemy has his back to you so you can fill it with bullets.

The reason most people don't like people on rooftops is because they don't habitually check up there when taking fire from an unknown direction. As a result, they can do one of two things:

    1. Learn to always look up as well as left and right when taking fire, and then take the bastard out

    2. Refuse to learn this skill and instead keep getting killed and/or ***** about it on forums

As I've said in this thread already, Battlefield 2 had rooftop enemies in pretty much every map because in pretty much every map it was possible to get onto them via a ladder or a vehicle. Yes, even huge buildings like those in Fall of Berlin had ladders on them in Battlefield 2. Heck, I remember constantly encountering people on huge cooling towers. You know, chimneys like those at the power plant Homer works at.

It made it more interesting, kept the combat that little bit fresher, and generally forced you to become more environmentally aware. It genuinely saddens me that DICE didn't include ladders everywhere this time around, because it's resulted in games that're that bit more predictable and a community that simply can't handle incoming fire that's more difficult to trace and deal with than usual.

I read the article. The dude could be lying. If he wanted to be sincere he would have included a screen shot of the email. This is secondary evidence or "hear-say". This could all be falsified because he dislikes roof campers and/or pod surfers. I don't believe it.

Depends on the rooftop I suppose. The ones on berlin are quite tall so the only way to get up there is to pod surf.

I don't mind the occasional person getting onto a roof but when it's an entire squad it screws matches up.Sure I love sniping them off the roof tops but they just spawn there again and again spamming pk rockets.

I hate getting number 3 or 4 in a match with the zeller just because someone went onto a roof while I only went to easily accessible areas to snipe.

It is considered an exploit. Using that mouse or sensitivity is not. We are not going to post items like 'The following are OK, the following are not OK'

First off, the EA spokesman just contradicted himself, and as the spokesman stated "they're not going to say if it's OK or not OK". What does that mean? Nothing. The email means nothing. The spokesman had no say on podsurfing. He was neutral.

The poster got all hyped up over what he though was a certain message which it was an exploit. Hell, the spokesman didn't even know what he was talking about.

PS. also, read a little bit farther down in that thread.

                1) It is not against EA's official ROE for 2142.

So, no rules are being broken regardless.

If you put a beacon next to a tall building you can still get on it by chance. Happened to me alot of times in Berlin.

I just had to ressurect this thread after reading the change/fix log for the second phase of Beta 1.40 that was just released.

                      - Further fix to prevent "pod surfing". Note that some pod movement will still be possible and is an intended gameplay mechanic to allow the player to have some small choice of landing site and to access rooftops
All I can say for those players crying about people on roofs is.

'Woot woot! Big yes on roof rabbits, "Be wery wery quiet. I'm hunting wabbits."

Honestly its never been an issue with me, you can kill ppl on the ground just as easly as ppl on the roof.

No it won't. The next patch (1.4) will not stop people from getting on to the roof tops. It will just make it slightly harder with limiting the pod surfing ability. But if you can get up there the good on ya. In war the higher ground is always the better vantage point. It should be reflected here as well since this is a war game. :salute:

I hate roof campers, but I do it myself from time to time. Killing them is not hard, it's not really intended to be part of the game though.

It does give a slightly unfair advantage on certain maps, but my real problem with it is this, you shouldn't be able to put a beacon up there, if you just landed up there by happenstance, or even if you shuffled your pod a little to land there, I'm cool with that, it's part of the game. Just take away the ability to drop a beacon up there and that will take away a LOT of the complaints.

I don't think that you should be able to cap flags like in camp g in central camp. Other than that, it's fine.

It is part of the game after 1.40 comes out, oficially.
