    I couldn't agree more.
Nothing worse than seeing the "sniper tower " (you know, that two leveled, white, roundish sort of building) copied and paste about 4 or 5 times around a CP/silo. At least in BF2 the snipers had better buildings to climb. Not ones with just a little catwalk circling the building, leaving the snipers not many places to run or hide. And where the ladders were, were much more random than in 2142. And snipers have far fewer places to hide and snipe in 2142 than in BF2, with the possible exception of the Titan or Titan-Conquest maps.
Also, in 2142 it's the same buildings over and over and over and.....well you get it. Each map seems to have 1 or 2 "theme" buildings, and a couple of different props. Other than that everything's the same. In BF2, each map had many different buildings for it. Not entire new sets, but enough variety for them to be different. I'd point to Kubra Dam in BF2. It seems that entire map was built just for that map. The outlying buildings are repeats, but the main area is completely unique. There is no other BF2 map that shares that. 2142 Seems to lack those types of structures.
Plus, many buildings had actual internal areas. Not much of that exists in 2142, except for the occasional staircase or hallway.

However, 2142's ranking and unlock system is far better than BF2's. There is much more persistence, and the rewards are better and more frequent. Nothing worse in BF2 than getting 2000 points (near the beginning of your career) only to get one additional weapon. Which, sometimes, completely sucked.

Jets are ridiculously overpowered. BF2 jet maps can be fixed by adding a new kit to the Class. Anti air... SMG, pistol, knife and an SA7 Grail (I believe thats why they call it). That would fix it. I find infantry much more interesing as inf is about skill instead of sitting in an APC obliverating infantry o.0
I enjoy playing as infantry, but I enjoy the challenge of playing with vehicles. And at least with vehicles, you get a lot more initiative to use different kits instead of just jumping in and playing medic or support all round.

And you sound like you've never been in a battle in a APC vs. a tank. Screw blowing up infantry, the real action is taking on the enemy armor. I never even liked just sitting there blowing infantry away in an APC either. It's really boring. More fun to ride off, help take bases and cause trouble for the other team's armor.

And I can't be in a clan. My computer is way too crappy to keep up with matches (most large BF2 maps I lag all the time on).

        1. Fixed positions, known to every pilot
        2. No radar, so no warning
        3. Pilots, on the other hand, would always get a lockon if the AA was manned
        4. The planes had better range than the AA.
        5. If you managed to launch a missile, it would most likely lock on to a friendly helicopter

The AA was crap, that is why nobody bothered using it.
Only the guns on the Essex were worth manning.

You're right on almost all your points, but those together still didn't make using them suicide. I say this as a guy who burned alot of midnight oil trying to get my AA pin with the things. Every pilot may know where the missle turrets are located, but the lock on warnings still don't tell them which out of half-a-dozen positions or more the missles are coming from. Nor have I ever seen pilots concentrate all their time and firepower blowing up missle launchers. They may take one out if it's on their way and if there are other targets near it, but I've never seen pilots gun for launchers just by themselves.

With that being said, yeah the AA missle launchers definitely need some serious tweaking. A speed and/or range boost for the missles and a lower likelihood of the missles locking on to friendlies midflight would be very nice indeed. I'm not so concerned about the warnings though. MOST pilots I've seen- the second they get a warning they release flares. If the guy in the AA turret isn't as trigger happy, waiting just a second or two will gurantee that those flares will be for naught. But then the problem is by that time, usually the aircraft will be far enough away to out run the missles you fire hence the need for a boost in speed and range.

You just look on the minimap and the grey icon that represented the AA will have diseappeared when an enemy got into it

                  Yeah.. AA is useless.

I just discovered the M16A2. I first thought it was a piece of crap but OH MY GOD it OWNS! Aim, burst, burst, kill. Yeah! No G36E noobage needed, the M16 > AK101 for me.

                    uh? :hmm:

I threw my first two unlock on G3 and L85 just to get rid of burst only M16. I can't kill with that thing. DICE should have an check-able option "GRIND DOWN BURST DISCONNECTOR" in the control manu.

Maybe that's why I suck at BF2.

On the off-chance that you weren't aware of this, I will mention that there already is a booster called Northern Strike.

                          1) I just when back to play BF2 and freakin' hackers crashed 5 servers in like 1 hour with their gay "It's raining jeeps" crap. I really enjoyed going back for about a day - but longer than that combined with hackers just makes me want to head but kittens

                          2) My friend said (and I fully agree with him) "I wish that they had made BF2 with the knowledge and experience they had making 2142"

Pff, nekomata is way better then some tread tank. :p

Also, in response to you question, methinks the latter.

DICE advice FTW. You know, I recently came back from other game forums, and it strikes me anew how much better a forum seems when the game devs are actually active forum members.

Tank with treads > hover tank

Because with treads you can boast about how you crush those sissy capitalist pig dogs under your iron communist treads.

Also, BF2 armor > BF2142 armor, no stupid shield to hide behind. should have seen me on highway tampa take on 2 full health USMC tanks in my 1/2 health MEC tank and win. :)
