So, did you get the MX518? And has your K/D ratio doubled yet?

Actually, I've used a trackball the whole time I've played BF2 and BF2142... (BF2 was my first FPS.) I liked not having to pick it up & move back to the center of the pad all the time, but it really wasn't that precise, and it would get dirty and stick.

So, I picked up a MX518, and I like it a lot. The precision was like, OMG! This is what I've been missing!! And the selectable DPI is great- the high sensitivity for armor and Rorche guns lets you spin faster, but is too twitchy for normal running and gunning. The low sensitivity is perfect for t.v. missile and sniping. (Not that I do the latter much.) The added buttons let me crouch, etc. right from the mouse, which means I do it more often while shooting & moving.

The down side is that I'm still adjusting to the mouse. I was *so* used to the trackball, it's taking me a while to develop the same "2nd nature" comfort level with the mouse.

For those looking for a new mouse try this article:

It's very long, so if you want only a summary, go to the last few pages for the charts.
