No, a ping below 10 is not a "bannable" offense. As for the 10 ping the players a greater advantage playing than the person with an average ping. And saying that, they are just trying to have the server fair to all players. As for the KOF member he was making racist remarks and that is not allowed on this server.

Forgive me, but I always play on a server where I have a ping of 150. I play against people with over 100 less and I almost always get in the top 3 (95% of the time)

Ping is a weak excuse for getting owned, and kicking people for it is disgracful

if pings under 10 are kickable/bannable because its unfair....

then everyone above 100... 50.... 20... should be kicked too right?

please tell me there is a difference between a ping of 11 and 111!... or higher.

how is it not an advantage to have that large of a difference in pings????

oh, and i find it funny that you guys cleared your ban section of the forum TODAY after we all started looking at it. what do you guys have to hide that you had to remove it from public eyes????

          lame... completely lame

Calling someone a nazi in the way they are being treated isnt racist - its about the heavy handed treatment he received by "scimmy" on the forums. Only a neurotic disorder could make such a huge leap that it's racist.

Interesting that the ban forum has been cleaned out. Prolly cause everyone here could see just how badly players were treated on those forums -otherwise you would have NOTHING to hide.

The Ping issue is based off of the rules of TWL and I think that CAL has something long those lines to my knowledge. I have not place in CAL since the RVS days.

Calling someone a "Nazi" is very disrespectful I do not care who you are. If you have not been in the server go play on yourself and make your opinion. I respect the rules of the server. If they are under the ROC that EA has posted then that is fine with me. The T*A*G server does not limit anyone to a certain kit, weapons, or use of vehicles. They just do what is fair and fun for everyone who plays the game. There are several servers out there that do not allow buggy, ramming, spawn camping, beacon camping, and etc. Hell....I can list 20-30 easily that have these rules. Its there rules and they have been reported and guess what...... EA does not see anything wrong with them. Because these servers with these rules are not changing the game.

Now those Knife/Pistol server do change the game because those servers are only limiting the weapons and cannot use vehicles. Its a server to gain the most points, pins, and gain rank quickly and unfairly.

Yes, that was a real confidence builder

But I read it yesterday, so here is my impression:
                  • Scimmy is not always as mature and polite as he would like us to think.
                  • A guest complained over the ping rule, and it was implied that it wouldn't apply if he became a member.
                  • They consider it an exploit if you use the beacon to get to rofftops.
I think that was disproven a long time ago?
They are free to ban that behaviour, but their justification is bogus.
                  • Recons in uncap may only fire when fired upon. That too is bogus since that will mean a 95% casualty rate for any recon.
An AR can kill in less than 1/5th of a second, he who fires first wins.

Unless further evidence is provided, I am most likely to believe the one who did not make strange rules and destroy the evidence.

LOL 150? wow i dont play on servers if my ping reaches 60.

                      from http://www.cheap56k.com/glossary/PING.html
PING - Packet InterNet Groper. An Internet utility used to check the connection with another site. It repeatedly bounces a signal off the remote site and shows you how long it took to complete the round trip each time. If you get no returns at all, the site is either down or unreachable. If only a portion of the signals are returned, it indicates some trouble with the connection that will slow down performance. You can run PING software on your own system with a PPP or net account, or you can use it as a command from Delphi's NavNet textside Utilities menu and from most shell accounts. See traceroute.

ping is a weak excuse for getting owned?:laugh::laugh:

if i ping 50 to the same server you ping 150 to. it takes you 3x the amount of time for you to communicate to the server then it does me. when i shoot my gun the server registers the shots 3x faster then you.

Now even if we shoot at eachother at the same time...guess who wins? :salute::yay::salute:

but in a certain aspect your right. there is no excuse. if you join a server with a high ping you should expect to get owned by those with lower pings. these are the sheer mechanics of the game, which his why you should sort your servers by ping. and play on the server on which you have a decent ping. [50 is decent 100 at most.]

Yes, actually lets get this part settled.

                        Battlefield 2142 NA Leagues

LAN Center players are not allowed to use servers located at their LAN Center. Additionally, any server that allows one of the teams to ping less than 10 is not usable for match play. A suitable neutral server should be used instead.

                        -Ping Discrepancy:
In the event of a major ping discrepancy, (+/- 50ms Average difference between teams) a neutral server must be used unless both Teams agree that the match should proceed.

The EU leagues require the first rule, but the second is not in effect (which leads to american players to participate, assuming they know the different rule set).

Ok now lets think about how this is applied in it's intended environment. Say someone on one team has a ping below 10 (it's rare but I've had it). According to the structure provided here, BOTH parties agree to play on a different server, and every player that was originally on the first server will participate on the new server.

Now the more important thing here is... if you apply the first rule because it's what competitive leagues say to do, why not the second one? Because it's not practical to you and has no real relevance in a public server... who is to chose who gets booted to even out the ping discrepancy? The simple answer is you ignore this rule because it does not apply to the environment you are presented. Will people gain an advantage because of how close they are located to the server? Of course, but why would it be ok to have a guy with 25 ping and another with 130 and why would it then not be ok to have a guy with 9 ping and another with 114?

Restricting people on the hardware level like this just doesn't make any sense to me.

ok, this says TEAMS to ping less than 10. NOT an individual.

so, according to this statement, a player or two could have pings under 10 as long as the rest of the team is higher than 10.

so, if i'm running a quad core and a 8800gtx, 4-gigs of super fast ram, and someone else on your server is running a single core and much older vid card and only a gig of ram.... should i be kicked because of my hardware advantage??? according to the spirit of the T*A*G rules i should be. of course, any T*A*G member with a top of the line computer should be banned from your own server too i assume.

i'm just amazed at this whole thing. wikidone posted on their site with a link to this, which got scimmy to join and do his 1 and only post.... and then all of a sudden their server ban complaints are erased.

                              just silly.

For rooftops: DICE said each server is free to allow or disallow the behavior. While I don't think it's technically an exploit, that doesn't have any bearing on whether they are allowed to prohibit the behavior on their server.

For recon in uncaps: Sounds like a legitimate rule to me. It's worded a bit differently than most servers with uncap rules, but it seems like it would work similarly to other uncap rules.

Things do sound shady, especially the ping rule though.
