The Herzog

The main problem I see now is people consider Pk-Rockets much more useful even when using the Baur.
PK-Rockets are either for flushing people out or killing them behind an object from long range.
This in my opinion though gives the Baur a blindspot in close range just like the Clark has in long distance.
The Herzog elminates this flaw. No one ever expects me to charge in head on with the Baur because of the more common Pk-Rockets. I use this to my advantage of course

The Baur is quite powerful in close range. Sure it has a slow rate of fire but it is extremely powerful.Comment

I have recently started using the Herzog/Baur combination, and I prefer it to the Clark.
The thing I miss the most when using the Clark is the ability to retreat and heal myself. But the lack of medium/long range is also important.
I had several one-shot kills with the Herzog, the trick is to aim just below the head so there also will be headshot pellets. But of course I cant guarantee that they had 100% health.
The increased ROF of the CLark will make it very good, but I think in most situation two Herzog shot will kill just as well as two clark shots.
And who cares if you kill someone a 100% or a 150%?
Sadly enough some rounds becomes PK-spam-party, in which case I will be forced to drop the Herzog for the rockets. But I prefer the Herzog.Comment

The Clark is really much more forgiving for OHKs at slightly longer ranges, so I think it's going to have the edge in close combat post-1.40 by a significant margin. Its larger clip size also means it can be effective against more than two targets, which the Herzog has difficulty with without a reload. Regardless of what weapon you have, if you're close enough to test this out against an enemy with a Clark, you probably deserve to be killed. Run the hell away and pick them apart with the Baur :pComment

Plz enlighten me on how you would accomplish this when your oth facing each other? Lets say the opponent has the Clark or Herzog.
God woke up from sleep and have nothing to do:dead:Comment

Thats the problem, if I am close enough they will just OSK me as I turn to run awayThe Clark is really much more forgiving for OHKs at slightly longer ranges, so I think it's going to have the edge in close combat post-1.40 by a significant margin. The Clark is (and will be) a better shotgun, but I feel very limited by the lack of healing and range.
A Clark user doesn't have to lose much health before he becomes a much easier target for a Herzog OSK, while the Herzog user can top of his health between engagements.
If you are in a good squad with efficient medics then that is not so important, but I see a lot of people charging into combat with less than 50% health.
A lot of the clark users we see now are also much more experienced with shotguns than the average Herzog user, so that is a factor too.
Unfortunately the Herzog doesn't appear to be tracked, so it is hard to estimate my accuracy/efficiency with it.Comment

The element of surprise is a key factor as well.
When I have the Clark and im in CQC with a Voss or a Baur, I would personally expect to win. The Herzog looks exactly like the normal so they would never realize anything coming. Also as Diamond pointed out they are probably gonna have some damage on them regardless making it just enough for the Herzog to one shot kill. No ever expects the Herzog is out because of the Pk-Rockets over use.
The thing is the Clark post 1.40 is going to roughly have the same speed or a little more than the Herzog. This means opposing players have roughly have the same amount of chance of killing each other but the scale slightly tips to Clark for easier one shot kills.
Then again you should never be that close anyways :hmm:Comment

And I have no problem with that, the Clark users are handicapped in a lot of other aspects, so it fair enough that they have the edge.
Obviously if I know someone is using a Clark, I will try to get some distance between us.
But I mainly have the Herzog out when I have no idea what is around the next corner. If something surprises me I can give them one or two shots to the face and retreat.
One of my best movements with it was me being the first man in my squad to turn a corner, and seeing a prone support. Normally that would have been unpleasant, but one instance of buckshot dentistry took him out before he had fired a single shot
Disclaimer: I am very new with the Herzog, and in no way an expert.Comment

contrary to belief it IS very possible to OHKO with the clark. most people aim at the largest possible area, which is the lower torso. that does massive damage like a shotgun should, but not enough to OHKO. aim for the upper chest, the damage multiplier is higher. not to mention that some shots will hit the head which gives a nice fat bonus.Comment

This is the means to one shot people, even those with heavy armor, with the Herzog as well. Aim for the upper shoulders and neck.contrary to belief it IS very possible to OHKO with the clark. most people aim at the largest possible area, which is the lower torso. that does massive damage like a shotgun should, but not enough to OHKO. aim for the upper chest, the damage multiplier is higher. not to mention that some shots will hit the head which gives a nice fat bonus.Comment

I almost never am face to face, always flank 'em and with my Otus I can see them :)
And the average clark user is easy to take out with the baur in 10~20mComment

That's where the Clark user's grenades come into play! :p I love the Clark, but will admit that it limits your range effectiveness a lot.
When I was first unlocking the Assault tree, I used the Herzog a bit. But, I was sorely disappointed by the small and awkward clip size. Mainly I use the Baur/PK when I'm playing Assault, but that's just a personal preference.
What I laugh at when I see it is someone with a Clark standing still to shoot at someone...Comment

Well a good Clarker will not try and stand still but keep moving while firing. I do so from experience and the faster fire will aid me greatly.
Do you have the ammo upgrade for the Herzog? Before that I thought three was an ugly number and never be caught dead using the thing. After I field unlocked (still dont have NS) the expansion yesterday and started using it again I could not count the numerous times it kept my tags away from the enemies (might I say i got this one guys tags 5 times over so he kinda was angry).
And I feel so much safer go around cornersin small spaces with the Herzog then just a normal Assault weapon.Comment
