BF2 vs BF2142

It's pretty obvious you're gonna get a biased opinion on the 2142 forums :P

THAT and if you voted BF2, why are you even on these forums?

2142 though I miss the foliage and color of the BF2 maps. The 2142 maps just makes the world seem gloomy and I become depressed. I also miss the jets. Never did have a problem with them as a ground pounder or tank driver, boats however were a different story.

2142 however has all the nice gadgets, active shields, accurate weapons, and a better map loading time. Though I do miss the good ole days of blackhawk whoring and shooting them down with a humvee (the mounted machine guns don't even hurt the air vehicles in 2142)

Well BF2 has great maps and as you said yes 2142 maps makes the world seem gloomy, the graphics are so dark also the atmosphere. I think 2142 has map problems, I love the maps in BF2, really fun and there are more vehicles which gives you a chance that you can build a lot of strategies. 2142 has more quality graphics but there is not a huge difference but it is noticable.

I voted 2142 (duh) because bullets actually go where you fire them, its waaaaay more balanced it has no dolphin divers (that can actually kill you) and I'm good at it.

I totally agree with autofodder. Bullets actually kill, game play smoother and no freaking dolfine diving idiots. Excellent game. I havent fired up nilla bf2 special forces since i began this game.:salute:

While I no longer play BF2 I voted for it because it was such a good game, my interest held longer than it has for 2142.

played bf2 last night for the first time in ages, on the new Highway Tampa map.

It (bf2) still has issues in that the Jets just rule the map.
The engineer class is still for the most part useless. (ooh i can lay a mine, but i can't shoot at that tank that is taking pot shots at me and oh... i have a shotgun which is useless over about 5ft... mmmmm... thanks!)

The level of teamkilling and general griefing is WAY worse than i remember it too. There seems to be VERY little squad play at all.

It takes divine intervention (or funny handshakes) to actually hit someone with a bullet (unless its me then EVERY single one hits home)

I finally gave up Tanking and went spec ops (asset destruction) or Sniper (200 - 300m shots and OH HOW I MISS THE ZOOM FUNCTION) when i finally began to make some headway.

Overall i think i have more success and more importantly more FUN in 2142.

I just wish they would clean the maps up, so it had the clean crisp look of BF2

BF2142 seems to have a better game engine. Still lags on Titan mode though? Loads of unlocks and ranks. Some nice little added touches, i.e. salutes when a member of your team/side agrees, points for team player AND lets not forget the DOG TAGS......nice?

BF2 a little more realistic..... its pretty hard to go back to after 2142. Its now full of gamers that OWN it!! know everything about the maps, vehicles and weapons......this dude was kicking my a*se with his anti-tank missile jumping around like he was having a fit!!! takes the fun out of it.

In summary, BF2142 wins for me, however BF2 was my first real online FPS, I will always hold that game in high regard.

In public servers BF2 gives more teamplay, reviving/ammo etc etc
Some 2142 weapons/unlocks are just useless crap

overall i like bf2 more, but i play it less as have many hours on it, much more than 2142 and i think it will always stay that way as i think that bf2 will always be a more successful game than 2142. Alsoi can run it on highest grapics settings with full antialiasing but i can only run 2142 medium with no antialiasing, and im a bit of a gun nut and i just like using real guns instead of made up ones with made up manufacturers etc, i would prefer if ea got some backing for the guns and got actual gun designers to design them and the stats, but still that would cost money.
also i like the gameplay and on my pc it runs much smoother

I prefer the balance of 2142, but we've seen a number of our guys drift off to other things- BF2's slower pace was more sociable, and a lot of folks miss that- You'd see banter on the text chat, and the TS channel was just a howl- more like a frickin' party. 2142's pace just doesn't really allow that.

So, I voted 2142 for the game balance and widgets and more flexible classes, but I do have a soft spot for BF2. Frankly, if we could get a few more dedicated BF2 players, we'd probably run a BF2 server as well as 2142. (Of course, once ET:QW comes out, it's anyone's guess how it'll compare to the crappy ET:QW beta.)

It's true being on a 2142 forum that the responses may be unbalanced, but I find it interesting why they like each game. I hadn't really thought about the prettier BF2 maps and slower pace. I don't remember the squad play being as good as 2142. Am I remembering wrong?

i loved BF2 absolutely, because of the modern setting and because im a big BF fan but the gameplay just...well, i just lost faith as it went on, patches gameplay deterioration

i only got bf2142 because my Uncle bought it and then didnt bother with it so i nabbed it hada go and liked how it was actually balanced, sure it has its flaws but its just better gameplay experience imo

BF2 for mods. FH2 is going to release, that's just a whole new game with graphics better that BF2142. It's going to be WW2 which I love.
