We were hacked. Several times over the past two weeks, in fact.
While all passwords are encrypted and salted, it's recommended that you change your password here when you can.
There always were. It was the last support unlock, and it was pretty much unattainable unless you played support non-stop from the beginning, so you probably didn't see anyone using them.
Buut you would need some homies to stat pad your way through; it was 120k points and on my super duper rounds I could only make 3-4k points; best round ever was around 6k on defense.
Too bad the kills in the vehicle on ly count towards vehicle unlocks, I managed to get the missile and coaxial but didn't bother with the optics.
Unlocked everything for all the weapons tough, an dit is like I thought it would be, I hope they put in more mods for the weapons.
I'd like supressors for the assault rifles, even if they reduce accuraacy and damage. Noise is your worst enemy this time around.
I love the complaining on how the weapos are "too accurate". And do "too much damage".
I think we should be able to get all the attachments for all the guns. Why can I have a RDS on my G36 but only an ACOG on the M16? Odd.
What guns were the suppressors for? I saw them on the MP7 a lot, but that is it. But they are definitely very handy as shooting gives your position away very quickly. I also think that if you sustained fire for too long, you would appear on the mini-map (like CoD).
I also noticed all the whining about the weapon damage. Apparently high weapon damage turns the game into CoD? I saw one thread claiming that high weapon damage was for noobs because they need higher damage to aim better. They claimed that it was skill to be able to run down the middle of the map, get a magazine of bullets in your back, and then turn around and knife the person who was shooting at them.
Man, the commo rose is a great concept, it can easly be done so that there is no spam, (for example the option to "enemy boat spotted" can be blocked when in a map without boats...) and everyone is asking for it, so why wouldnt it be placed!??!
The whole point of the comm rose was to streamline the mess that was memorizing several radio chatter commands through Fkeys.
Sure, they were much more complete, but some were too redundant and it was a clutter. It needed up to 4 button presses.
Comm-rose made it possible to do all of that with a single key and mouse.
Any new comm-rose design should not be more complicated than the original one, or it defeats its purpose. Q should be tapped for spotting, and held for context sensitive order but have the radial menu for social interaction.
A misfire in BF3 can cost your stealth and the comm-rose is not as accurate for spotting. While we can't "discuss" the new 3D spotting mechanics rest assured it's not like the BFBC2 3D doritos.
The new 3D spotting have a range of nuances that you have to look for; obviously prejudiced people will not bother to notice how the new dorito behaves and will just shout "wWWWAAAAAH WAAAAL HAAAAACK".
That said, 3D spotting is a MUST for new BFs. Consolized my hairy ass but I digress.
i have to admit the tap for spotting and hold for commo rose that allows you to Thank, say "follow me" or "go go go" or "roger" or "negative" etc is a must...
The way I see the new game design; a 4 people squad should be self sufficient when you are going to play with friends online.
Since you can now effectively survey the servers in real time and find people in and look at their stats in real time and add them from the bowser and a lot of other things; expect to make a lot of new friends.
Whole teams coordination won't be a problem since you can start a 32 man party fro the "lobby" and join a server as a group; and squad up in there, or at least you could coordinate your 4 squads through chat, make them outside, then join a server. From what I could gather you can have one big group in voice chat in a channel, but separate launches or "sorties" so this is more "military like" than previous BF titles.
So in a sense everybody is the commander even from outside the game.
Now, since you are already gathered outside, once you go inside you already have voice chat enabled for anybody in your party, not just your squad; so you can do away with Ventrilo or Team speak for pubbing; so there is the "needless" comm rose solution from DICE, even tough I sustain that it should be in game asset. So there we go.
League gaming shouldn't and wouldn't be a problem to begin with, I don't understand that complain as a dedicated clan will use TS or Vent anyways, bypassing in-game solutions any ways.
3D spotting is a tool, you have it, they have it; you know they have it and oyu know they will use it so you can plan ahead for that. A well coordinated squad can overcome a lot of the drawbacks from 3D spotting and can still be stealthy enough to pass unnnoticed; the reason why, you will find out later.
Since we can't discuss explosives here due to NDA, I will just say they are not your traditional explosives either. This is why I wanted to unlock claymores.
Suffice to say, that a good squad will make use of all of the tools available to them: cover fire, supression, assists and spotting; knifing is long but it's still silent for the most part and it has its uses beyond the dogtag grab.
This will be a game built around tactical advancing and true control of ground.
Soud is pivotal to the experience and fully integrated into combat. I don't know if any of you are or were enlisted; but you should be pleased with the sound design of this game. Not so much for the authenticity of the sounds, but the way it works.
It's more subdued than War tapes, but also removes a lot of the background noise that was not directly related to what was happenning in the actual combat area.
Tap for spotting is okay, they can remove the spotted button thing of the commo-rose. As for the 3D spotting if you were in the alpha and checking the 3D spotting threads you should know the arguments of both sides and I stay on my position : they need to tweak it.
i have to admit the tap for spotting and hold for commo rose that allows you to Thank, say "follow me" or "go go go" or "roger" or "negative" etc is a must...
Yes I mean; when you break it down the problem with BC2 for PC is that there is no way to ask for specific stuff without pointing at someone and using a key; works for consoles (barely) but it is a step back from the old comm rose.
All you really need is context sensitive rose for ordering, if not directed at an objective it should default to "Defend this position" with a radius like in BF2142; then, you can make it contextualize for: Attack this flag, Defend this flag; arm this Mcomm, Disarm explosives and hell, pretty much anything you want to program it for.
Point it at a claymore, spot: CLAYMORE! and an icon shows up for example. Point at claymore, hold Q, order: DISABLE! and a relevant icon shows up. And you would still get the social menu for relevant scondary stuff like pick me up, give me ammo, go get yourself bent, etc.
Fact is, I just thought of this, gimme a sec; sending mail to DICE. It solves problems for both consoles AND PC.
When Battlelog was first announced, one of the confirmed features was that you could create "platoons". There isn't any more information on what this is, but I would assume it would be a combination of squads.
If they are going to stick with the 4 man squads, they need to at least provide some sort of inter-squad communication/coordination. Perhaps the platoons will provide that, but since they said it was a Battelog feature and no a game feature, I would assume that it would only allow you to organize them with your friends. In-game, there needs to be someway to link squads. Maybe a squad leader from two squads can agree to make an alliance of sorts, after which the squad leader from one squad can spawn on the squad leader from the other squad, and vice versa. Perhaps have an order system where if one SL makes an order, the other one will be notified of it and be asked whether they want to accept the order.
Honestly, an easier way than adding in all these features would just be to expand the squads. With four players to a squad, there just isn't a way for a squad to be it's own fighting force. It will likely always need support from other squads. In BF2, you could easily have a self-sustained squad moving around independently around the map. In BC2, that isn't really possible.
