  • The Choppers are made of n000b.....so how do I activate the parachutes.

Contrary to some pointless rumous invented by losers with no life, the choppers in BC2 are nothing like their BF2 counterparts which were practically perfect. In BF2 they were really hard to master (for a novice) but deadly in the right (experienced) hands.

In comparison, the choppers in BC2 are like big flying rowing boats and flying them is absolutely no joy at all, except for the amazing firepower that they have. Since there is no skill or learning curve involved with them it will be impossible to get really good which means choppers pilots are gonna have to get used to getting blown up quite a lot....

...so my question is...what is the parachute button?

I have seen guys use it.....is it unlockable or is it an automatic thing?

Try comparing them to the choppers you got to fly around in BC1.

Yeah, was just wondering, when does this ridiculous comparison with BF2 stop?

            Why are you trolling, Jake?

Ive been looking around for opinions on air, even asking a few people I know who were competent with aircraft and so far the people who have no experience with the choppers disregard them as "fine", not a single person has come out and raved about them. I would rather you to come out and say hes wrong, so those of us on the fence about a lot of aspects of this game could have some good information.

The "its not a Battlefield sequel" excuse doesnt work here, Im afraid.

              Hello Mr Redfield.

I am a veteran BF2 Air whore, particulary specialising in the jets but also a bit hot in the choppers. For me, the air element of BF2 is unbeaten in any other video game flight combat, simulation or arcade. It doesn't bother me one bit (like it did many) that the jets/helis in BF2 behaved in not so a realistic fashion. The crucial point was that they were very fast and manouverable and there was an enormous learning curve required to master them. Indeed, this was a learning curve that seemed to go on indefinitely as there were always opponents that were that little bit cleverer than you.

I must admit that one of the main attractions of BD2 was that I heard there were going to be choppers in it. But compared with the BF2 flight aspect, the helis in BD2 are just a little bit silly. Pretty much anyone can jump and fly them just as good as anyone else within a short space of time. They are very heavy and slow to control and very easy to take down. Had I never played BF2, then I would be quite happy with them. But the reality is that they are hugely dissapointing...even worse than the choppers in 2142.

I suppose the offshoot of this is that casual gamers wont be put of playing the game due to some vet hogging the choppers and wiping out everything that moves for the whole round.

See it as positive, anyone can fly now. Ain't that great? I like it.

In term of maniability and skill threshold = Desert Combat>BF2>BC2. It's true that the BC2 chopper is heavy but on the other hand you no longer have OP air support like in BF2 and unlike BF2142 you have no stinger and the AA is **** so your only real threat is .50 cal, the enemy chopper and drone. Your gunner can seriously rape every inf and light vehicle on the map.

MadTheCat, much appreciated, it confirms my suspicions. Im still waiting on the resident "whores" to chip in, although its very strange that noone has come forth yet. Reviews on air vehicles for BF2142 pretty much came in 1-3 days after the release.

Ok. I like logic, don't you?

Say there are 32 people in a full server, so 16 players per team. A MCOM is blown up and now one team has use of a chopper (or both depending on the map).

The player who hops in the helicopter (and his gunner I would hope, Redfield shut your mouth ), proceeds to rape and pillage because he has 500 hours in a helicopter (/nolife). Now he and his gunner are happy. That is 2 (or 4) out of 32 people. This correlates to there being 30 (or 28) un-happy people in the server (and 16 who are REALLY un-happy, because they are getting raped.)

Now what do you think DICE would do, appeal to the masses? or to the 1% of all all Battlefield players out there who are flying aircraft more then they spend hours in daylight?

I don't find anything wrong with the choppers in this game. The choppers in BF2 weren't hard to master either and were just as easy to fly. The jets were ridiculously overpowered in BF2 and I'm glad they've never been in since. This game is for everyone to enjoy not just for you to pwn every last player on the map over and over again so if they're easier to fly and gives more people a chance then thats better than 1 person dominating a whole game at the expense of everyone else.

If I remember correctly in BF2 they made modifications to the choppers in a patch so whats to say that changes won't be made to this game.

Why do you keep posting BD2? Do you mean BC2?

If they put a chopper in this game anywhere close to a BF2 Chopper you would be dead before you could say chopper. Only one chopper would ever be up and he'd kill everything.

Also you have the UAV to help take out choppers in this game where as this wasn't available in BF2. This makes the chopper in BC2 more vulnerable and not as easy to dominate.
