The knife is fine, DICE went the more cinematic route with the knife having some slight autoaim and lunge, instead of the more "prestigious" knifing in old BF games. It doesn't bother me.

He didn't say it was. Once you're finger is on the button, you'll keep firing. It's still faster to kill someone running at you with a gun rather than with a knife.

Weren't you the one a few posts back asking if there were throwing knives in the game?

Anyway, don't juxtapose your opinions on the whole community.

The numbers show that knives are WAY too easy to kill with. I have 673 kills, 114 of those are by knife (it's alittle less than 1 in 5 kills). Absolutely ridiculous.

One bullet from a sniper rifle on HC does instant kill.

But yet people arent complaining about it, in fact, people complain that they dont 1 hit kill all the time.

Yet we have a lot of people not liking the knife kill system with its one button press death.

Again.. The physical mechanics are the same.

Just goes to show, can't please all the people all the time.

Lining up a headshot vs. maneuvering close enough for a knife kill aren't the same thing. I don't know why you're even bringing HC into this.

Knife is broken in this game. It's way too easy that some already start to play solely for tag hunting. Knife was way more fun back in 2142 where hitbox is broken and it takes real luck or real skill to prevail. Is it serious? Not really. Shotguns and sniper rifles can both deter knifers quite easily with basic skill. Don't take the game too seriously.

I don't ever recall anything being difficult about knifing people in BF2142. It was EXTREMELY easy to switch between the knife and back because you could easily hit the "1" with your ring finger while still using WASD to walk. It took minimal coordination to quickly switch to the knife and back. Once you had the knife equipped it functioned exactly the same way as it does in BC2.

There is way more difference between the two. In old BF1942/V/2/2142, knife is a gun that shoots only 1m. In BC2, it's a quick time event. When somebody runs at you and hit the button at the right time, you die. When both hit the button at the same time, the one who gets the hit registered first wins. The real problem is not noobification of the game. This game shouldn't be taken too seriously from the beginning.

This happend yesterday:
I encounter an enemy and we both empty our guns. Instead of waiting for the reload I just rush him with my knife.
During the fight two squadmates spawn on him and it becomes rather chaotic but in the end I manage to knife all three of them.

Now this was an awesome fight, but when it all over I realised that my gun has reloaded, so I could have had the use of a Saiga during the fight.
And if I had done that I would very likely have lost. Likewise the two newly spawned must have had loaded guns and it didnt help them.
Once you get into melee range it is nearly impossible to hit someone aware of you, they zoom in and out of your FOV like a cat on speed.

I am actually fine with the way the knife works, but it is a bit sad that you should prefer it over a semi-auto shotgun in a close fight.

I think Knife in BFBC2 is intended to be a stealth kill weapon or a surprise weapon.

all my knife kills are:

1) Backstab Recon
2) Corner stab
3) Too close for comfort
