Only the default (TGN Light) theme for now. Dark them is also coming back soon. Then CSN. Then Wrestlin' Nation. A lot of WIP stuff right now. There are a couple of things still not working either. Sorry.
He's completely right, though. The MW2 campaign is not a work of literary genius, it's extremely cliched, to say the least. Just look at the snowmobile scene; you're running away from Russians in Kazakhstan and jump a giant chasm to escape. This isn't modern warfare, it's James Bond. Even a James Bond movie is more unpredictable than this, unfortunately.
Wasn't talking about that part of his post at all. I was talking about the generalizing part, where he blamed his age for his point of view.
There is loads of part of the SP that can be linked back to films. They were going for the 'Hollywood' effect.
Honestly though, after reading quite a lot of negative reviews of the SP, I just switched off actually trying to understand any of the plot and killed some bots. Although that is an obvious floor, some missions were still enjoyable.

When I was 17, I hated MGS games and my favourite movie was The Rock.
People mature with age. I wasnt generalizing. Everything IW has done with MW2 points to catering to the teens. Youve got these Pierce Brosnan James Bond scenes. The easily recognizable scenes and ideas from popular action movies (which serve absolutely NO purpose). The plot is taken from Tom Clancys library (teens loved R6V games, older ones were obviously too difficult). You had pictures of Dane Cook playing the game posted up. Then there is the Eminem trailer. Composer Hanz Zimmer, who is recognicable by every teen in the world, despite not listening to him (and he made a horrible job for MW2). All of this and a lot more are nicely finished with plotholes, cheap copouts, overly scripted SP campaign which is so screwed up, that half of the important dialogue is going to end up missing somewhere between the 3000 Russians you (supersoldier) are able to kill in just one act and the blood on your screen which gives the first person perspective a nice reality TV feel.
Theres many more, I honestly do not understand how is it possible that people are calling this "the best game ever made".
Im not venting, these are honest issues Ive picked up over the past couple of months with MW2s marketing and finally playing it.

Well none of that applies to me. I'm 18, I hate the game and not just because of the way they destroyed the MP. I have no idea who "Hanz Zimmer" is, but that's because I don't care much for movie music & video game music. I don't listen to eminem, and dane cook is ok sometimes.
In fact, there are a lot of us who are 19 and younger that think the exact same way that you do... just like there's a countless amount of guys that are your age that think MW2 is the second coming of christ.
The game is catered to 17 - 25 year olds. But to say that all teenagers are going to love the singleplayer and think it's the best thing ever is generalizing. Like I said, I guarantee that there are guys your age, and older, who think it's the best thing ever. Are they immature teenagers too?

sigh* People take stuff so personally sometimes. You're just too hotheaded to get the point.
Chris isn't saying that all teenage males are necessarily going to love it, but that the game is marketed towards a specific demographic, which he just explained (no need for me to reiterate all that). Every product is made with a demographic in mind and then advertised in a manner that appeals to that demographic. Chris isn't generalizing, IW is. This may be surprising to you, but these sort of marketing strategies work extremely well even though not everyone fits the demographic. Just look at MW2's sales. Nearly every company does this with every product.
Obviously, you think you're playing MW2 because the single player campaign is a well crafted and mature work. That may be true, but most people aren't buying MW2 because they think it's a work of literary genius. They're either buying it for the multiplayer content, or because they like shooting weapons, James Bond-esque action sequences, etc.
To answer your last question, no those people aren't all "immature teenagers," but if they truly think MW2 is a generation defining game full of new, innovative, concepts including a well crafted campaign, they clearly have immature tastes. (nota bene, immature in this context doesn't mean acting like a child, jumping up and down, screaming because you can't get what want, we mean a different connotation).

If it doesnt apply to you, then why do you get so defensive? Are you trying to argue my post and claim that I am wrong? That the game is not marketed to teens in a commercially fashionable way? When that target group is especially affected by it? If not, and you feel like you are an exception, then why argue? If you disagree, then put something across.

NO FRIGGIN WAY!

No its not. Reread my posts. I didnt say all teenagers would love the game. I said the game was marketed and created to appeal to most teenagers. Read Jakes post for clarification.

Immature tastes. That's all there is to it. Doesn't matter what age you are. The game is designed for 17+ year olds. Not just teens.
There are just as many 20 year olds that think MW2's SP is genius as there are teen agers.
I just hate it when people bring age into the equation, especially since we can all easily lie about it online. Chris, why blame [TS]4|Rec.Fire's admiration for MW2's SP on his age, when you don't have to be 17 to enjoy the game?
Btw, Jake, I'm not sure why all your posts towards me are negative. Not sure what I did to you, and why you need to get involved every time but... LoL!
There are just as many 20 year olds that think MW2's SP is genius as there are teen agers.
Thats not the point. Read again: IW-s target audience.
Chris, why blame [TS]4|Rec.Fire's admiration for MW2's SP on his age, when you don't have to be 17 to enjoy the game?
Because his claims are completely wrong or overexaggerated and completely in line with what I would expect IW-s target market to believe. I have never said anything about enjoying the game. Its about praise, not enjoyment. Brandloyal and younger people give this game so much credit. Have you been to IW forums? Its a real eyeopener.
I fully expect people below 20-s to fight me on this, I would too. Doesnt change the fact that this is how it works. Not a single one of you has yet tried to debunk my earlier post and youre all responding emotionally.
How hard is it to just view yourself as an exception?

well honestly, i would think someone of 24 would be mature enough not to attack someone over their age....but your right, there are exceptions.
I don't get what age has to do with anything. The only real bearing that age has on personal taste are the trends of that generation. And well some will follow those trends others won't. And well at the same time I know alot of older fanboys that are into alot of the things that the teens are into....its all really just a matter of personal taste. I'm sure they're all so very sorry for being into things that your not.
The weed callsigns, money flying when you get a payback kill and getting XP and setting off bells and whistles for absolutely everything you do, even dieing. God, I hate those ****ign things. They make the game look retarded as hell at times.
Its easy to tell ****ty players by drug callsigns though.

1. MW2 is not the best game ever made
2. The target audience claims it is
3. All facts point to target audience being gamers in their teens to low-twenties
4. MW2 is not just "a game", its a videogame trend and fashion item
5. When you were 7, you liked candy and thought thats all you wanted to eat for the rest of your life. At some point, you started picking a chickenwing over a Mars bar
6. Whether or not a person is 17 is not important and is not the subject here. Its when people are oblivious to these facts and defend their favourite product despite its flaws. They call it brandloyalty, we call them fanboys
7. Yes, Ive been a fanboy too

Its still a better MP game than L4D2.
Indeed, the catering to perfectionists and people who play solely for selfesteem (achieving something turns into a completely separate, primary goal) has been turned into something "cool".

You guys are missing the point entirely, still.
Tomeis was responding emotionally to rational statments... Chris is hardly anticking him, but rather defending his position with arguments rather than emotional nonsense.
Looking at your age, it makes perfect sense. Youre probably blown away at Super Marios plot twist...
no i got the point....chris was trying to get someone to emotionally respond. Honestly, looks like he was emotionally responding in the first place....he didn't like something that was said so he had to attack his age.
Everyone seems to be dodging the real points in favor of shouting and saying "BUT HE STARTED IT!" No one has actually answered the real criticisms put forward by Chris, myself and others.
