Not sure. Ive seen a lot of them. I also read the tweets on a number of Dev pages about how they would like to make another 2142 with frostbite. The only problem 2142 had was that it was really balanced and they made the game too complicated for many. People wanted to jet rape and couldnt and others didnt understand the tech trees or objectives in titan mode.

What I am looking forward to is seeing the comments about BF3 after the beta and final release.

Yea, I've seen a lot of dev tweets saying they want to revist. 2142 didn't receive bad scores, they have a metacritic rating in the 80s i think.

Possibly, titan fights are not as straightforward as conquest as there are "too many" variables for a match since you can win by disabling the shields and assaulting the consoles; to just blowing the thing off from the ground.

I think very few people realized that it wasn't enough to bring the shields down, you had to also protect a number of silos on the ground to ensure your own shields wouldn't get depleted fast. And there is the litle advertised fact that you can turn missiles around by capturing the silo that launched it.

Re: Will there be a BF 2143?

No they werent idiots. Its just that it was different from every other Battlefield game. The future aside, DICE changed a lot of stuff like:

            1. No air domination. There were too many weapons to defeat the slower gunships. Walkers had AA and all vehicles had active defense. Titans had AA and cannons. Engis had heat sinking missles. They didnt work until patch 1.4, but still. Only the best pilots dominated.
            2. Kits. Four kits that had these strange options to turn a sniper into recon or a medic into support or assault into uber-assault, all with strange gadgets also.
            3. Unlocks. WHAT? I cant have a complete kit? Thats nuts.
            4. Spawn on SL or beacon only. WHAT??? Insanity.
            5. Titan mode. I think Lordsethonan covered that well. It was strange. Some liked it, some didnt.

It was just a lot of change. Now that BC1 and 2 also had some of these adjustments, it wont seem so dramatic for BF3. Yes, you can complain about it all you want, there are going to be some of these in BF3. Deep down, we all know it.

So anyway, its not that people were stupid, it was just different. Its what I call CS syndrome. Game is fun, but its not Counter Strike, going back to what I know.

No these people were just idiots plain and simple. If a person can't figure out how to play 2142 after a few days then they have an IQ of 0

Actually, if it were released now, after the COD Customisable kits farce, it would probably do better because people might understand it better.

Re: Will there be a BF 2143?

there were a lot of subtle nuances to 2142 and titan, that many experienced BF players would adapt to quickly

gunship flying, yes you had to be dam good, I spent hours in them, even soloed them and you had to be so freaking careful

something as simple as titan mode, a lot of dumb people would try to capture any silo even if it wasn't the most strategic, or they would go attack a silo when they could get to one that was about to fire a missile instead; there were a lot of different variables and things to do, which for noobs (such as those you find in BC2) would fly right over their head

2142 was the most balanced game around, period. Black Ops, BC2 whatever, booooring.

That's not why BF2142 failed. I was one of the most enthusiastic members here. I had high hopes for it. You guys (BF2142 fans) are thinking the game was too good for the stupid masses. But to be honest, the game was boring. It's not only that it wasn't a challenge, every aspect of the game except for infantry, was boring. Levels, lighting, colours, vehicles, the areas between flags in Conquest mode (unless it was a city map) and level design as a whole. Even the kit system wasn't that much of an improvement, as BF2 class system was clearly set up for a squad where people filled a very specific role, with it's ups and downs clearly defined.

And what you've described as balance isn't balance. A lot of people complained about air power in BF2, they never played any of it's mods.

All in all, it was a bland game and a pisspoor effort on DICE's parts to ease the criticism which came from people who were fed up with BF2's problems. And instead of calling those people "stupid" or "someone with 0 IQ" for not actually going to try some mods, which were made by a much better talent pool, I just accept the fact that some of "you" just have way too much money to throw away and you should have given it to me instead.

Then cod customisable kits wouldnt be a battlefield copy anymore, and it would be the other way around.

Also i had mutch more "epic moments" in bf2142 due to the titan mode. One of the best and most refreshing and different game modes ever created. When it came out i thought it would be a sucess and everyone from that point on would start doing similar things. I even thought that the next bf's would have something similar but instead of a titan it would be a carrier, for example with the map layout of wake island or dalian plant, but there would be a carrier for each team

Whatever makes you feel better Chris. Its your games with your computer you can play whatever you want however you want.

I know for a fact that a lot of people had issues figuring the game out and didnt understand it. Games do get boring as well. Its also a fact that many people never bothered with the game at all to begin with and we were a small minority.

I get bored from games VERY quickly and i do not regret buying bf2142. In fact it's unlockables and new features allowed me to spend more time playing it without getting bored than in bf2

No need to go all "lets agree to disagree" here, Crunch. I gave BF2142 a chance without judging it like others did. I was here when we all had to deal with the naysayers complaining about the futuristic look of the game or it being a mod for BF2. The only aspect which was interesting, was the infantry one. I particulaly liked the new gadgets and tools, aswell as using "carrots" to promote teamwork. Unfortunately that's all that it was. As a whole, the game still felt like a sci-fi mod, with a hell of a lot of neutered and castrated aspects, which made the game not into "all-aspect-warfare", but "infantry combat with vehicles". One of my biggest disappointment was all the wasted potential which you allow yourself with going into science fiction territory. As time went by, it became fairly obvious that the game became a refuge for those who couldn't hack it in BF2. It's a pretty strong statement, bordering insulting, but that is how I still see it.

The whole "but teamwork and balance" flies out of the window, there is no contest. Better looking BF2 mods managed both of these much better. All aspects were much more enjoyable, immersive and fun. And POE2 even had some bland looking maps to boot!

yet you are diving right into the part that you didnt like, the future. So fine, you got bored and didnt like it because they didnt go far enough. OK. I agree with that. DICE could have been very creative and did a lot more things. They had some robots and space pods and flying fortresses but it could have been more. DICE said themselves that they didnt want to get too crazy about it. So thats how it went.

My entire post was based on it being harsh that people were stupid for not liking 2142. I gave some reasons that friends of mine didnt like it and why. That entire list is based on their opinion of the game and why they didnt like it.

My opinion is that it was more balanced than BF2 and its not going to change. Mods may have done a better job then that, but I am not comparing mods to 2142. Im comparing BF2 to 2142.
