The BF community made it pretty clear to Dice that they did not want a sci-fi shooter.
I don't see them trying that again, just look how much whining there is whenever BF3 looks to be deviating a bit from BF2. Now imagine that they announced that it would take place in 3041.

i would absolutely play a 2143 or other sequel to 2142. let's just hope that IF it ever makes it to the shelf, it will actually be in true bf franchise form.

It should never be called "2143" though. More like 2200 to move things forward. I want a Battlefield game with space combat (some mods have proven it can be amazing) and DESTRUCTION 3.0 on capital ships' hull panels (vacuming marines to space) and destructible ship subsystems affecting their function.

It should never be called "2143" though. More like 2200 to move things forward. Thats what I keep saying! 2143 is too little of a move. Though personally I reckon it should be more "2158" or something.

I think people are just saying 2143 to associate it with 2142 and be an upgrade version. Bf2 -> Bf3

I know lots of, well not sure what they were beyond that, but BF2 players (annoyed ones I guess) QQ'd over the whole idea but dam 2142 was simply ****ing immense

Yeah, the battles ranged a few years apart. What muffinmn said was correct. Its like 1942 maps were not all battles only in 1942. 1943 had frostbite, BF3 will have frostbite, 2153 can have frostbite. It doesnt matter.

anybody read the bach interview recently where he pretty much called 2142 a failure? he singles it out for the fact it didn't get high review scores like BF2 or 1942 and pretty much insinuates they won't revisit it.
