Flak Jacket works on anything explosive, artillery now pretty much has to DIRECTLY hit you to kill you, aswell as grenades, any explosive is nerfed a HUGE ammount. Betties NEVER kill you, I walk up to betties and get as close as possible and it still never kills me.

The only thing is not very many people use FJ so nobody has said to nerf the perk, thank GOD!

OK, so the other day my team and I were getting killed in the subway station and our lame excuse for snipers were getting taken out by machine gun fire across the map. I didnt have my sniper kit but I picked up this guys rifle and thought it was strange. It looked like the M1 with a scope on it. I used it and it was the most accurate semi auto sniper rifle in the entire game!

It was great, hardly any recoil and I can shoot multiple times. As I ran out of ammo it went **PING**. It was the Garand! I was shocked. I made a sniper kit with it and it has to be the BEST scoped sniper rifle in the game.

Im sorry, it is. Thats it. Any other sniper rifle, that is scoped, doesnt touch it. It has good sights, its not annoyingly loud, rapid rate of fire (for sniper rifle), accurate, and good stopping power.

So there you go. Now, without a scope, I dont like it at all. Its OK, but I would still pick the Gewehr.

Yeah the M1 Garand does have a sniper variant. Usually has a huge flash hider though.

Wow...did they improve it in a patch, or has it always been this way? I need to try this out as I like to play aggressively, so explosive items and arty are usually the stuff I get killed by more than bullets. (I mainly play the WAR mode)

Ok if you play war like me you NEED flak jacket.

I used this is the BETA and now, it works wonders. I am not even kidding you, I've thrown nades that have landed RIGHT next to somebody and it didn't kill them. So yeah here's my kit:

M1 Garand /w Bayonet
M1911 pistol
Frag and Smoke
Bandolier
Flak Jacket
Extreme conditioning or anything really, so long as it's not martyr. I use dead silence and revive a lot with my clan, revive works wonders, and dead silence is wonderful simply because you can walk right up to somebody and bayonet them without even hearing you. An FPS game is played by sound. Especially COD4's promod, so I know what I'm talking about

I will try the flak jacket, but my kit is a tad diff and I have 2 main ones I use depending on the map and/or how people are playing in the server. (For War mode)

I voted the M1A1 Carbine, mainly because it has really low recoil and I find it easier to get a second or third shot off with it than a second shot off with other semi-automatic rifles quickly.

I tried using the garand with a scope and I'm quite impressed. Without stopping power, it was 2 shots to kill, but I used the flamethrower for up close stuff. Wasn't a bad combo.

Also, flak jacket does work well for War, but juggernaut also does really well and it also works against enemy fire. I'll have to test more between the two. It's always hard also though giving up my stopping power perk b/c I like to kill instead of worrying about my health.

JoMaMaz I know what you mean with losing the stopping power. Whenever I shoot somebody with an M1 Garand, I always let him shoot first, because I take the time to line up a perfect 2 shot chest tap. I just aim, take my time, and bam, bam, he's down.

Like if somebody is running in the open, instead of aiming for him, then spaming like an idiot. I take two perfect shots, usually with a full second of time between.

So losing SP makes it 3 shot kill, or 4 if he's jugering, so it can be quite annoying.

I use flak jacket on my 'Anti-Tank' kit. Because I'm a satchel charge tank killer instead of bazooka's, the flak jacket saves me from most tank shots. (Of course direct shots still kill)
