    There's still hope for BF3

Heroes: Free to play, 2 maps currently, no server browser, 16 players, PC only
1943: Downloadable, 3 maps, no server browser, 24 players, PC and consoles
BC2: If anything like BC 1--24 players, PC and consoles
3?: 64-80 players, PC only? The classic Battlefield game.
    Fifth Battlefield title? Korean BF?

Let's hope DICE can do something good with BF3 and the 5th title.

Pretty sure BF:BC was included in the 5 games.

Maybe yes? Maybe no? It was a little ify on what they meant. I mean BF2 and BF2142 are still technically under development also.

        Look up.
        http://blog.wired.com/games/2008/06/...s-working.html

The list of 5 games includes BF:BC and BF:Heroes. The 3 remaining are BF:BC2, BF1943, and the Korean BF game.

The Korean BF game you refer to is Heroes. It uses the Asian/Korean micro-transition style marketing. I believe that was explained in an early Heroes interview...

            I don't think so...

and another a title that is being developed with Korean studio Neowiz -- which EA holds a stake in -- and aimed at that country's market.
            http://blog.wired.com/games/2008/06/...s-working.html

            and

With Battlefield Heroes, Neowiz is also working on it with EA, is that correct?

Danny: No. Battlefield Heroes is independent of Neowiz. We actually have another product. We're actually taking Battlefield, the original product. We're discussing whether Heroes is right for the market here.

One of the interesting things I've said to one of my guys about Heroes is that the cartoony graphical style was very much like some of the earlier Korean games, so it is perceived as being somewhat older. I still think it's a great-looking game.

It's fantastic, for free, very high quality. But Koreans would see that kind of cartoony style and think it's a little bit older.

The other thing is that all the Korean men, at least, do national service here. So they know what an M16 looks like, they know what an M1 tank looks like. They're very hardcore into the military side of things. A World War II shooter is maybe not as appealing as a hardcore, modern combat type of product.

So, with Neowiz we're working actually on the Battlefield franchise. We're taking a Battlefield II engine and we're converting it to a free-to-play model.

The Korean game seems like it will be more like BF2 in graphics and time zone (modern as opposed to WW2). At least, that's what I've gathered from the interview.

Re: There's still hope for BF3

The only hope for BF3 now is that DICE will develop BF:BC2 in the spirit of BF3.

The 5 games included Heroes, Bad Company, Neowitz Korean Game, Bad Company 2, and 1943. They specifically said Heroes AND a Korean game, they're not the same thing.

All 5 titles have been announced. If we see a "Battlefield 3", it will be in a few years time.

It's possible but I don't think they would be releasing 2 PC games of the same franchise anywhere near each other. If they want BC2 to sell well on PC, they wouldn't make a PC exclusive battlefield in the same year.

Yes, they got inspiration from games like GunBound and Maple Story where micro transactions for items buff and outfits will help pay for the game. This was in on of the interviews and I remember them saying it.

Do you think after the so called 5 bf games, dice will stop making battlefield games.

What makes you say that? I would really like for them to announce a traditional style BF soon as well. These two look like a lot of fun, but nothing beats out the originality of the past bf's

                        this is completely 100% true.

i remember perfectly in many BF:H interviews they said exactly that.

no it's not I've posted the link a few times already. They're completely different games.

But the team is also at work on three other games based on the series, including a traditional core game aimed at consoles, and a new collaboration with Neowiz specifically for the Korean market

You guys seem to think BF:H is the Korean game, so why would they say BF: Heroes AND a game with Neowiz for the Korean market?

Tomeis hit the nail on the head. The Korean game and Heroes aren't the same thing. All the articles on the matter specifically differentiated between the two.

thats not what we are speaking about, we are speaking of old BF:H interviews where they were asked why they were making a free game, and Dice dudes replied that it was supposed to be like the asian market with all the free games they have.

they said it was revolutionary because not many companies outside of asia do that.
